Can't believe this show finished almost a decade ago, time sure does fly. I loved watching it in a full-length feature rather than tiny episodes. I watched the eps upon release, and watching it again makes me realize how much of a lost opportunity this was.
The talk between Liu Kang and Shang Tsung in the diner is so deep. I love seeing Shang Tsung reveal that he knows LIu Kang's past and discloses his own past to Liu Kang thus empathizing with him. I really wish they hadn't canceled this series. It was gold for the most part.
They filmed all or most of it. The actor who plays cage or Kenshi said they filmed a third and fourth season. So WB or at least one person somewhere has a copy of the last two seasons
If the actor who played Shang Tsung was my grandmaster and I didn't recognize him, until he brought up my history with him, I would be honored to bring up good memories with him.
the fact that cary hiroyuki tagawa played is this as Shang tsung is just awesome ! his acting is flawless , the intesity he manage to put in his character is outstanding and a show of his own ! this whole project is the best mk serie we have ever gotten and the best reinterpretation of each characters and was also super impressed on how many big names they managed to get for this !

Hell even Goro was crap in 2021. When Gorobin 1995 was so awesome how did they mess him up in 2021? That really peed me off seeing he is one of my favorites after Johnny Cage!!!

Dude this is 10x better than 2021 movie. My friend recommended me this and I love it. Yeah, its not perfect. Looks more like a cheap Netflix adaptation. But still very watchable
As a Kenshi main, it felt amazing to see him done right in live action. Dan Southworth has been one of the best stuntmen in Hollywood for years now, he was the perfect choice.
I haven't played the series a lot so idk if fans would consider it garbage but I'm really loving these. It's short but not too short, it has a good build-up, good action/choreography, the plot is good enough to get me invested and I can feel passion was put into it. Also they made it more grounded than the games but they kept details in, like Scorpion shooting a spear/rope 20 feet in front of him in a straight line would look silly, but it's a signature movie so they adapted it in his fighting style. I mean they're making something new but they're respecting the source material. I doubt we could get something this good nowadays.
I'ma big fan of the games, and this series is easily my favourite adaption. The new film sucked ass, and the original just doesn't hold up well anymore. This series strikes a perfect balance for all the reasons you mentioned.

But to say Mortal Kombat Annihilation is better than the the new 2019 movie is just plain wrong. MK Annihilation was a dumpster fire green screened into another dumpster fire with shitty CGI animation. Also the first one sucked too. Sorry, but it did. Best part from the first movie was Johnny and uh, oh shit, Kano again. But because of the actor's English accent we got Kano retconned into an Australian instead of the Japanese-American he was in the first two games.

Loved 95, Annihilation was so bad it's amazing, 2021 was awful, and this...season 1 was good, if you take out the Raiden episode...season 2 was the worst cinematic rendition of MK ever, imo at least. Where are Sonya, Jax, Kano, Sektor, Cyrax, and Quan Chi? If the actors bailed that's no excuse, seeing as they recasted Sub Zero, Johnny, Raiden, and Stryker. I guess they just...forgot to include them? Why are we stalling for time so much? The episodes are already super short, I don't need to spend 75% of the episode on backstory, or rehash the same things they've already shown, like the same Ermac and Kenshi fight we literally saw last episode. Why is the finale a cliffhanger before a fight between Liu Kang and Kung Lao...instead of, idk...giving us the actual fight of Liu Kang vs Kung Lao? This is a tournament season, and we got what, 3 fights? Also, is it so much to ask we get Shao Kahn a fkn helmet? 🤣
I always wanted more of this. I remember the Cyrax / Sektor episode blowing me away when it came out. Hands down the best adaptation of MK we've ever gotten.

This was done by a now defunct mid-level marketing company called machinima, and over time I'm sure the ip of mortal kombat became too hype and valuable for machinima (who was pretty much just profiting off stealing revenue from contracted animators and journalists) to afford producing this series. All of that being said, this is such a better love letter than that movie from 2021 we got.

The Cyrax and Sektor episode is Mortal Kombat at its absolute peak. I remember being so mad when they announced it being delayed by a few months, but feeling so rewarded with the final results. The process of cyberization was so cool, and I remember so vividly jumping out of my chair and yelling when Hydro popped up.
I'm a little sad that we didn't get the sort of toned down story that the "Rebirth"short film had(more realism and less magic)but this was quite good. I really like the idea of Liu Kang becoming an angry vigilante after the White Lotus failed him and he was a former champion. I really wish this had gotten a third season, at least to finish the story.
That whole episode was hot garbage. These are like 10 min long and the creators thought it would be a valuable use of time to make us watch the exact same Kenshi vs Ermac fight we just watched in the previous episode, and go over Kitana's story a second time. Imagine what we could have gotten instead of a painfully obvious attempt at clock running

This was free to us and used as a proof of concept and to be fair it has good casting, good cinematography and a decent story and great no money effects... Probably the only time I’ve felt bad for Bi-Han. Dude was actually hurt hearing Hanzo and his clan were slaughtered and felt anger towards whoever was responsible,then was killed by Hanzo after he was deceived.
Because in this timeline (with MK 11 and MK1, it's possible), Bi-Han and Hanzo Hasashi were childhood friends and Kuai Liang was the evil one of the two Lin Kuei brothers instead of Bi-Han being neutral and Kuai Liang being good.
Might be one of the only ones but I loved the new movie as much as the old one. Watched it 4 times already. Could definitely improve on some of it but I'm excited for 2. What a great series, didnt expect an actor I loved in Chicago Med to play Liu Kang, so that was a nice surprise!

Okay, after finishing this series I have to say it's a much watch for all Mortal Kombat fans. So many great actors and if you know Mortal Kombat Story than you won't be able to predict this ;) I LOVE MK!!! SPOILERS: I just wish it didn't end like that and had a continuation. I know money must have been involved and probably the reason it didn't continue but damn. This is the MK we all deserve! Great job guys! Even if I am a few years late :P
To me, I think season 3 will show that Kitana followed Johnny Cage to the fight between Liu Kang and Kung Lao. And if Kitana stopping the fight, she and Kung Lao tries to redeem Liu Kang and with him on their side, they *will* defeat Shang Tsung, with a help of Kenshi Takahashi, Johnny Cage, Kurtis Stryker and Raiden.
Man I’d love to have seen them continue on with this show! Love HBO or some other service to pick this up! Instead of another movie they should fund this!

Shooting the God of thunder with a taser...genius! I've played MK since the first game and have loved it greater with every instalment. I never really liked playing as Malena (excuse the spelling) but as I've got into her background history, I've come to love her. I now see her as a type of Sub zero vs Scopian chemistry. P.s Has anybody seen 'MK animated, Snowblind yet? Any review or thoughts would be good and much appreciated.
Yeah I saw Snow Blind. My two cents are as follows - The premise of the movie had me disappointed (who the main villain is), but the way it plays out made up for that. A lot of minor characters get some much needed love in this movie, the fights are great, the twist at the end was really unexpected but it answered a lot of questions which would have been fatal for the movie had they been left unanswered. The violence is more brutal than in any MK adaptation yet. Given how you've followed the franchise from the 1st game, I'd definitely recommend you give this a watch!

Probably the only time I’ve felt bad for Bi-Han. Dude was actually hurt hearing Hanzo and his clan were slaughtered and felt anger towards whoever was responsible,then was killed by Hanzo after he was deceived.
Because in this timeline (with MK 11 and MK1, it's possible), Bi-Han and Hanzo Hasashi were childhood friends and Kuai Liang was the evil one of the two Lin Kuei brothers instead of Bi-Han being neutral and Kuai Liang being good.
The Scorpion and Sub-zero chapter was amazing, i wish warner made a whole movie but only with Scorpion and Sub, like an origins history.

Might be one of the only ones but I loved the new movie as much as the old one. Watched it 4 times already. Could definitely improve on some of it but I'm excited for 2.

Okay, after finishing this series I have to say it's a much watch for all Mortal Kombat fans. So many great actors and if you know Mortal Kombat Story than you won't be able to predict this ;) I LOVE MK!!!

To me, I think season 3 will show that Kitana followed Johnny Cage to the fight between Liu Kang and Kung Lao. And if Kitana stopping the fight, she and Kung Lao tries to redeem Liu Kang and with him on their side, they *will* defeat Shang Tsung, with a help of Kenshi Takahashi, Johnny Cage, Kurtis Stryker and Raiden.
unfortunately, they dropped the season 3, it's not gonna happen.

Man I remember watching these episodes weekly when they were coming out originally and I was bummed when they cancelled it after second season.
There was very little of this that I genuinely enjoyed, but at least they tried to do more than the 2021 film
Shooting the God of thunder with a taser...genius! I've played MK since the first game and have loved it greater with every instalment. I never really liked playing as Malena (excuse the spelling) but as I've got into her background history, I've come to love her. I now see her as a type of Sub zero vs Scopian chemistry.
P.s Has anybody seen 'MK animated, Snowblind yet? Any review or thoughts would be good and much appreciated.

My two cents are as follows -
The premise of the movie had me disappointed (who the main villain is), but the way it plays out made up for that. A lot of minor characters get some much needed love in this movie, the fights are great, the twist at the end was really unexpected but it answered a lot of questions which would have been fatal for the movie had they been left unanswered. The violence is more brutal than in any MK adaptation yet. Given how you've followed the franchise from the 1st game, I'd definitely recommend you give this a watch!
