Do you already have a Downpipe installed? If so, then take your car to the shop and have them do a 3"inch resonator delete on it. Then order the Catback and when it arrives take it back to them and have them modify it by cutting of the 2.5"inch part and make it into a full 3"inch.
Lol my cold start is the same but at least you have the resonators, I don’t all I have is the small cat on the unitronic dp and awe non res track. Running EQT e85 tune but the warm idle is just about silent on my
I actually don't have any extra resonators. Only thing is the Hemholtz Silencer that comes on the MBRP. Everything else is all pipe lol. That Cat on your DP does make a decent difference in sound control compared to Catless. At least from how my buddies sounds. He has the IE Catted DP.
@@projectjet8096 yeah, when I had my 19 gli I had the apr downpipe which had a much bigger cat lower down and it was raspy sounding like your catless setup is, but for some reason this unitronic dp doesn’t have as much rasp and has a bass like sound to it until about 2500 rpm

Love the vid! I got a ‘19 gli 35th anniversary. Any ideas on how make the turbo spool louder while keeping the stock exhaust? I live in a quiet neighborhood and not a big fan of loud exhausts in general. I have a cts turbo intake and cts turbo inlet pipe so far. Lmk if u have any thoughts! (:
@@Bondovw They were good springs. Had a good balance of comfort and stance. Only reason I switched was because I wanted to be lower to fill in the rest of the wheel gap. I also wanted the ride a bit firmer and planted in the corners.
It had a "3inch resonator delete prior to the MBRP Catback Exhaust install. The shop couldn't fit the MBRP because the resonator delete that they made was 3"inch and the MBRP went down to 2"5inch. So they had to cut the 2"5inch part off the MBRP and widened it to fit over the 3"inch pipe they did. Essentially it's a MBRP that's been modified to be full 3"inch. But thought it was easier to understand by just saying to people resonator delete.
I have the CTS catted DP with this set-up, found that it had a solid amount of cabin vibration when accelerating (not even hard) and honestly I felt it sounded more like a tractor at startup. I also found that their was a solid amount of drone as well... If you don't like how it sounds or the set-up, I put a Vibrant resonator on it and now it sounds absolutely stunning, a lot less tractoy-like on startup, not over the top on just a casual acceleration either but when you pin it....that thing is magical! I am about to put the IS38 into it and make it full stage 3 in the next couple of weeks here, I love this car!
@@jarviskarchewski6556 awesome to hear man! I ended up with that set up and I love the tractor sound you mentioned actually! Lol. But I definitely could see how someone might not enjoy it even with the catted dp. And I agree that drone could be bothersome as well! Good luck in the build
Just bought one of the 2021 GLI jettas in September and I’ve got the MBRP catback was wondering with the ARM catted downpipe if it’ll be almost as loud?
On this setup if it was catted, it would change the tone by a bit, sometimes it might have more rasp or other times it might deepen it depending on the dp.
Hey bro I have a 2015 TSI, I want my exhaust to look like that (dual) but I dont want it to sound like that. From your experience do you know if I can make it happen? I really like the silent sound with the noise the turbo makes. Let me know if you have any ideas, your car looks sick 👏🏼
Thanks man! You can always go to a muffler shop and have them just do an Axel Back exhaust. That will change your tips to 4inch and add a bit of sound. Also depending on your budget, you could do a full Catback Exhaust. Just get one that doesn't delete the mufflers.
I think it also depends if u a 2.0t. And the 35th edition comes with split exhaust. You would have to cut ur rear bumper or switch it with a kit. I’d say just get a straight down pipe. You’ll hear the spoils definitely. Catback just makes it louder since it has a resonator. Which helps with drone big time.
Get a catless downpipe for turbo whistle/sounds, keep stock resonator and add aftermarket mufflers or remove depending on how loud you want it. The rasp I believe comes from resonators
For 2015 it’s only one side so you would first need a new number or cut out space in your current one, and you also have to relocate your charcoal canister
It does, but there was a 3" resonator delete on the car prior to this exhaust and the MBRP wouldn't fit so the exhaust had to be cut from the 2"5inch portion and widened into a 3inch to fit the resonator delete pipe. I just titled and said it has the 3"resonator delete to make it easier.
Can I just take my GLI to a shop and play this video and say "This is what I want" lmao

Do you know if this setup will be too loud for track use? The track I go to has a 103 decibel limit from 50 yards.

Yes, you definitely can!
Any drone or rasp?
Minimal drone if any thanks to the Hemholtz Silencer on the MBRP. Little bit of rasp depending on the rev range you're at, but perfectly tolerable.
how much of a difference would a catted downpipe make
On this setup if it was catted, it would change the tone by a bit, sometimes it might have more rasp or other times it might deepen it depending on the dp.
It’ll also make a difference in your drone being catted vs catless.

it’s a vw ofc
