Don't continuous weld, do little sections 5mm weld move along 50mm then weld another 5mm it avoids over heating and warping the steel. Well at least thats the way the panel beaters did it when I was painting cars.
Great videos Senan, thanks, I'm starting on my 2.5TD Talbot Express Pilote R580 1991 now, a complete welding novice. Is the Jefferson 185 with 0.6mm wire the way to go ? Same repairs as you but not as bad and a bit around jacking points / front cross member. Dave Cork.
I like the recycling panels bit cos it helps keep the project affordable. Still abit jealous about your mig welder... I'll have to save the pennies for one, just makes cleaner welds.
@@VantagePointVideoGarage I bought a flux core welder this year thinking how bad can it be.... really shabby looking welds that pidgeons would be proud of and filthy crap left everywhere. You get what you pay for.
Usually the top half of the wing isn’t too bad and weld in panels for the arches are widely available from places like Coastal Motorhomes and you can just cut out the lower area as I did in this video. th-cam.com/video/cfn--MeCang/w-d-xo.html
I can beat and fab panels. Looks like only way to get to structural elements behind the wing, is to drill all spot welds around from around it. What an awful design!
I like the voice over.
It was out of necessity but it might be the way to continue if people like it.
@@VantagePointVideoGarage I can hear you much better.
Great work Senan. Can't wait to see the progress on the inner arch in the next video. The whole project will come together in no time. 👍
That is a good start. I used a hefty 2 pieces of angle iron to make an impromptu brake in the vise.
I did that once before for a sill that was going to be visible. I’d do it again in similar circumstances. I used clamps on the ends as well 🗜
You've the heart of a lion 👍
A Peugeot lion. I was a bit more Wizard of Oz, Cowardly Lion before I got this bit done.
Puuh ... One of the next rusty puzzles is done ... Stay streng!!!!! Greetings from germany Christoph 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks Christoph, my knees don’t shake so much when I look at it now ;-).

Stubborn dedication, thy name in Senan.

I appreciate the support.

I made do with the old one for 15 years. This one is so much better and there’s still a long way for me to improve.

Yes im gunna teach myself to weld... my fiat coupe aint gunna weld itself
Is there a way of removing wheel arches/wings? There's rot behind them that I need to get at.
