I’m super white but I grew up in south texas. When I speak Spanish I have a norteño accent. I also still say “hijole”, sometimes “hijole de la madre”. I have no idea where I got that. We say chanclas, andale, orale, etc. we use a lot of Spanish in our convos.
Also something super wild-my mother, who is also very white, sometimes has a touch of a Spanish accent when she speaks. South Texas is a different world.

"Regio = Belonging to the King"... is called like that because of the city "Monterrey = King Mountain". People (and stuff, like the language) are called "Regiomontanos" (From the King Mountain), and then shortened to just "Regios".

My grandparents and beyond on my mom’s side are from Nuevo León they migrated to Texas and Louisiana. I’ve always noticed that their accents and words were SO different than what I find to be true for AZ (mostly Chihuahua). I love this!

Norteño viejo (Original/Old Northerner) here. Those words in the Northern Mexican dialect are just broad Mexican words. In the Northwest region, the /sh/ instead of /ch/ ponunciation is used broadly (except in non cultural Northern zones just like Sinaloa and most of urban southern Durango) while in the Northeast they use the normal pronunciation of "ch". Other aspects of Northern dialect is the politeness (we use the "ustedeo" instead of the "tuteo", although young persons use mainly the tuteo, which may or may not be rude for some people) and the shift of /e/ to /i/ in some words (i.e. pronouncing "Norte" as "Norti", "di oro" instead of "de oro", etc.). If you want to hear a genuine Norteño accent, you have to go to the rural areas (and maybe try some good rural food [?]). I don't recommend to pick up this accent if you are learning Spanish (Mexican), as it is probably that you will sound very exagerate. Most people tend to overexagerate our accent and it sounds very odd. That's how we identify foreigners, southerners and Nuevos Norteños (New Northerners, chilangos who migrated from the South to here).
I’m from Ciudad Juarez and my aunts always used the “sh” when saying Chihuahua but I always said it “Ch” and my mom and dad and people I knew personally didn’t either. Very strange.
I’m no expert in accents but my accent as a Mexican-American speaking English sounds very similar to chilango. The chilango accent sounds very similar to the Nahuatl language with the hi and lows of every word but obviously in Spanish
The actual chilango accent sounds more like nahuatl mixed with the original spanish from southern spain which makes sense the conquistadors that arrived first to mexico city were from southern spain the chilango accent you're referring to his more of a hood accent which a lot of the locals from mexico city seem to dislike

I don't speak Spanish (I know a few words) but I can hear regional dialects. Growing up in Southern California, the Northern Mexico accent sounds *very* fast and has a sing-song quality to it: "ya-da-da ya-da-da ya-da-da..." I know there's a theory of language that each language or dialect is that region's "song", and you can hear the beat of the song in Northern Mexican, and how they even I think choose their words to fit the cadence of it. Like you said, "musical." Now like I said, growing up, this was the only Mexican I knew, but then one day I heard someone speaking what I thought was French: unlike norteño dialects which are like you said hard and choppy, this was all pronounced from the front of the mouth and the lips. But then I recognized some of the words were Spanish. I knew she was Mexican so I can only assume she was from Southern Mexico, what you call "Chilango." It was really interesting to see such a vast difference in how Spanish is spoken in different regions.
Can you guys help me? Working as an spanish-english interpreter a client told me his client spoke Mextaco. I couldn't find any information about this mexican dialect. Maybe they pronounced it wrong. Being white doesn't exclude you from speaking Spanish. Millions of Spanish speakers are white, including obviously Spaniards

Maybe Mixteco? It's an indigenous dialect spoken mostly in Oaxaca and Guerrero. I think some people also call it Mixtec language.
