Thank you for your kindness. My Wrangler JL gas cap was broken. The Korea Jeep Center said they will charge 200 dollars for parts and 100 dollars for key setting. However, I bought the parts for 100 dollars from overseas purchases and thanks to you, I completed the work easily. It only took 10 min.! You are soooo good at explaining.
Rob's videos are always good, this one is outstanding. The only thing I did extra was to check all four tabs even after I discovered the correct one, just to double check.
In the beginning of this video I thought this is going to be combined rocket science and brain surgery level complicated but seeing how it's done, it is actually really easy! Awesome video, expertly presented and easy to understand. Kudos guys!
This video was incredibly helpful! At first I thought I was going to have to try to guess 8 different pin locations, have to do some mathematical rocket science and pray to an ancient Mopar god or 2 to get this locking gas cap to actually work with my keys. Rob did an absolute awesome job of simplifying and explaining the process, while keeping everything organized and showing each and every step along the way. I painstakingly followed every instruction exactly and it worked like magic! I had it all put together, locked in place, and installed onto my Jeep in less than 40 minutes! I previously purchased the Mopar Locking Gas Cap and brought it into a certified Jeep Dealership. They seemed incredibly annoyed that I even asked them to attempt to key the gas cap, rushed through the process and ended up fumbling, bumbling and ruining it permanently. The second time I purchased the locking gas cap, I watched this video. Thanks Quadratec and thanks Rob! You saved me having to fork over the extra money for a locksmith and a lot of lost time and frustration! 👍😁
Great tutorial! I was a little nervous at first with their being 16,777,215 (2^24 - 1) wrong ways of doing this, but the video provided an excellent, clear explanation on how to do it, and I was able to knock this out in under 30 minutes. Thanks Quadratec! You rock Rob!
I watched this video twice to get all the information correctly.... I don't even own a jeep, by the way. Great video, though. Hopefully, I will get one of those one day.
Excellent video!! Followed your approach and installed the pins to match my key exactly. I suggest drawing out your work area just as Rob did.....very methodical and works like a charm. You have a new subscriber. Keep up the good work.👍
Dude, you are the MAN!!! I went to the dealership and they told me that it would cost $300 to key the lock. I did it myself fairly easily with your awesome guidance and video. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
Bought the gas cap on Amazon, and most the reviews said “go watch the video on TH-cam” and they are correct. No way I would have been able to do this without THIS video. Thank you!
Hi guys at Quadratec this is RedRex1, awesome video from you guys to patiently showing us jeep owner how to be able to do and work with the products that quadratec sells. Thanks quadratec and all staff members .
Purchased this item from Quadratec BEFORE my Wrangler was even delivered! Followed these instructions to the letter today to set-up the lock and everything went perfectly. Installed new gas cap and tested the locking mechanism, job done! Thanks Quadratec!
I had coffee ready at hand, thinking about how difficult this was going to be, but honestly This step by step video made it much more easier to understand, no need to rush it, pause the video if you have to so as to not get overwhelmed, overall great video and it works!!!👍🏼🗝also it was $70.00 dollars, but well worth it!!!!!
The video is a great tutorial, it was extremely helpful. The gas cap worked perfectly with no issues. The only thing i did differently was coated the springs and lock tumblers in a very thin coat of grease during final assembly. Thanks for the help.
I agree with what Juan said: Your initial description of the procedure made me a bit nervous, but it turned out to be kind of fun. Thank you, Rob and Quadratec for that fantastic video! I’m not sure, but that might have been the first time I’ve worked on my Jeep at my desk.
Hey Rob! 21 Gladiator and actually had gas siphoned from me overnight a week after I got it! Excellent demonstration. I'm a 6th grade math teacher, and your "trial and error" technique is the epitome of "guess and check" problem solving in my class. Not to mention a real world application! Using this in my classroom as an example. I was blown away by your organization and step by step process - equally amazed when it worked. Thank you!!
Best install video EVER!!!! I watched it a couple of times... did my paper just like the example and literally blew through the install of the pins. Great video and way to assemble this cap!
Rob the 🐐 !! Just installed on my 23’ Wrangler. Had me a little shook in the beginning and was thinking what have I got myself into, but it was a piece of cake! Thanks!
Got this for my new Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited Rubicon, with this Video was it very easy to assemble. Thank you so much for this ! Greetings from Germany ;-)
Outstanding instructions to set up the Mopar gas cap. Easy to follow, lots of pointers. I was able to complete it in no time and it worked great. Thank you Rob.....
Awesome! After watching this I was able to get it keyed in less than five minutes!!! After I was told by some service people they couldn’t do it unless they had a special technician...
Thankyou so much You made that so easy and the tech at the jeep dealership said he couldn’t do it so he gave me employee discount and said that would cover the locksmith’s cost So I saved money for once lol Well explained and Thank you again
Thanks for making that so easy! I do agree with the others though... paid $60,000 all said and done for my 2021 jeep and I don't think I should have to be doing this lol. But thanks to you guys for helping a brother out!
I got the Mopar locking hood kit for JL’s. It’s the single center lock in the top middle of the grill. It’s the same concept for keying that barrel lock. Except the barrel has 3 “left” slots and 4 “right” slots. Comes with the same kind of keys, A-D left, A-D right. Keep in mind they in no way match up to the key combination from the barrel on the locking gas cap. Completely different key combination. Also, this kit is almost 100% in pieces. You have to put almost everything together.
Great video Rob! This video was perfect, I bought one and followed your steps. Took me about 10 mins once I opened and sorted the little bags. Thanks for making this video so easy to follow!
Awesome job Rob! Thanks for breaking it down and making it look possible. I’m going to order my locking gas cap and set up a work table just like he video and do this myself.
@@wizardsyndicate5505 The keying process held up but the gas cap part started to lightly rust and started to feel a bit grindy to get it unlocked/locked turn motion (where you put in the key). I would only do it again if you live and park somewhere urban or suburban where you have to worry. But be ready to monitor it and replace it before it gets too badly rusted.

I’m going to be able to use this to rekey the under seat lockable storage i was able to snag off eBay. Had to buy new handles and locks, but this should make it a breeze. Thanks Rob
Thank you, this was indispensable. I wish you had pointed out that if you "test fit the cylinder in the cap it locks and is unserviceable" i.e. you are hosed, earlier in the video. It would have saved me $130 buying a second one. But the directions are spot on. Also MAKE SURE YOU TEST WITH THE SPRINGS IN. I did it without the springs and got BL, BR, BL CR and it worked fine (in my first botched attempt) when I got the new cap I tried it again with the springs and I got AL, AR, CL, CR and it fit perfect. So IT MATTERS! But the vid is great, if a bit slow, otherwise. Thanks again.
Your instructions are superb, makes it look easy and fun (yeah, I’m a puzzle fan). I’ll go get myself one of them. I’m thinking I’ll work on pins 1 & 3 at the same time, then 2 & 4. If that works, I should be done in 5-10 minutes tops. Thanks!!
Thank you for your kindness.

Nice job Rob, Even I can do it ( I think? ). But a lot off these parts should be already installed in your $50,000 plus Jeep .
Excellent walkthrough. Followed the process exactly as outlined, and it was much easier to DIY than scheduling an appointment at a dealer.
Glad it helped!

I would need a day off to do this job properly : )

I just completed this a couple of hours ago. All I needed was this video to show me the concept, and the rest was cake. Thanks for the info!

Received their product this afternoon, followed this tutorial video this evening, and all done! Amazing, very clear and clean , step by step! Bravo!
Thanks for the video. Made the job easier! Took me only 5 mins to set the lock after I watched the video.
Fantastic tutorial video! Got the lock keyed in 25 minutes after watching the video once. Works like a charm! Thank you!

Yeah, hope you support quadratec now by buying from them vs amazon. Amazon didn’t take the time to make the video.
Hi guys at Quadratec this is RedRex1, awesome video from you guys to patiently showing us jeep owner how to be able to do and work with the products that quadratec sells. Thanks quadratec and all staff members .

I know its been a few years since you installed but how is it holding up?
@@geofflau3002 Holding up good. Still locks as it should and holds the seal as it should should.
Purchased this item from Quadratec BEFORE my Wrangler was even delivered! Followed these instructions to the letter today to set-up the lock and everything went perfectly. Installed new gas cap and tested the locking mechanism, job done! Thanks Quadratec!
Excellent directions. I followed all the suggestions and ended with a perfectly functioning locking gas cap.
Thanks Rob awesome tutorial. I completed the job of keying my new gas cap with ease thanks to you!
Excellent instructional video. Clear and concise! Got this done quickly without a glitch on the locking gas cap. Superb job Rob.
Totally worked for me. Watched the video once and then keyed the lock. Didn’t need to refer to the video again because the explanation was so solid.
I can't believe I was actually able to do this myself thanks to this video. Thanks so much!

Just installed mine, worked like a charm, thank you for your videos, because of you now, i have a peace of mind.
Thank you for the detailed instructions. Was able to get this done for my wife's wrangler and she's pretty happy. Thanks again

Awesome video! Just competed doing mine and after watching this it only took 10 minutes tops. New locking cap works flawlessly. 👍🏽
Thank you for a wonderful demonstration! I had to do this for the Vario panniers on my 2023 BMW R 1250 GS. Failure is not and option. Thanks again!
Excellent video! Worked perfectly on my own gas cap! Rob you made it easy, keep up the good work!

Like Butter..... Awesome step by step. Thank you for the demonstration.
Awesome job Rob! Thanks for breaking it down and making it look possible. I’m going to order my locking gas cap and set up a work table just like he video and do this myself.
Very Good Video ! Got the gas cap and with the info of this vid got mine done in just 30 min. And the best part of this I now have my key code !
Thanks so much for this video. I don't know how I could possibly do it without this detailed explanation.

Excellent video. I did it successfully and if I can do it anyone can. One little hint - a magnifying glass will be helpful. The key codes are small.
Great video, success in about 10 mins. Very thankful!!
This video is spot on! Thanks Rich! It made (what looked like) a difficult task into a piece of cake…and it was kinda fun!
OMG.. great job on making this so simple… awesome awesome explanation!!!
You ROCK Rob, thank you sir… My lock is now ready to install
Great video Rob! Install went perfect, thanks to you!
AWESOME Tutorial! Thank you. Great job with the simplistic and very easy to understand instructions.

is it the 100 $ for a lockable Mopar gas cap ? maybe?
Super easy! Just follow the steps. I color coded the parts chart to make visually simpler.
Thank you so much for your great and easy explanation.!!!
Muchísimas gracias por lo fácil y bien explicado!!!
excellent video! was able to follow along and get the lock keyed... enjoyed the task! thank you
Great video, thanks for your technical and organizational help. Especially since the kit I received came with no instructions!
Excellent video. I’ve just ordered the locking gas cap, your video is an inspiration.
I’m going to be able to use this to rekey the under seat lockable storage i was able to snag off eBay. Had to buy new handles and locks, but this should make it a breeze. Thanks Rob
You're very welcome!
Glad the video helped you out!
Very good video - no problems following the steps!
Followed these instructions ans was done in 10 mins or less. watching the video took longer lol. Thank You!

Thanks for the helpful tutorial. Just installed this on my JL!
Followed along and success…I did it! Thanks for all the tips!
Despite being tricky to set up, this seems like a great idea. I live in the city and park all over the place. Better to be proactive about security.
Very nice tutorial, really seems you have to take your time and have patience! Will give this a go,m thanks for the help!!
Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOU!!!! This video was great and made this so easy.
Thank you for your video! Very easy to follow.
My dealer want 160€ for the job 😮... after this video I did it in 15 min. Perfect 👍

Thanks alot. Worked just like you explained.

Great instructional video! Thanks!
Thanks!!
Update: I did it today, it went very smoothly and yes, I found it fun! If someone is in Manitoba and needs help, let me know.
Great video! I just did this and it was so easy thanks to you.
