The Bob Ross of ukulele. Well done.
Wow - that's one of the nicest compliments on my work I've ever received. Thank you! "Happy little chords" ;-)
That's the perfect way to describe Stu as a teacher!! Never thought of that, #elbowsanchez!
Literally thought that in first few secs
🎶🌸
Hey everyone, the best success that ive ever had was by following the Arthurs Uke Blog (just google it) definately the best system that I've tried.
UKE CHORD PROGRESSIONS:

#2. EM7 EDIM7 AM7 D7-D6
#3. G6 (bar on 7th) AM7
thank you so much
THX!
Thanks UvU
This video was outstanding....you make it look so simple and CLEAR...now to get these old fingers to move and remember it all in this 85 year old head.....I may be slow but determined. You do a great job teaching!!!
Glad it helped!! Drawing out the shapes on a piece of paper can really help to memorize them....but the video will always be here for you Lynn. Thanks!
This actually helped me. And this dude is peaceful AF!
SO glad that it was helpful! Hope you'll subscribe for more vids like this one...Be well & Happy playing, Stu
You’re definitely my new favorite ukulele teacher. I absolutely adore jazz.
As Mark Twain said "It's how you tell the story", lovely little video, thank you !
Wise words! Thanks for sharing!
Just found this on my suggested videos - Over 3 years after you recorded it!!! You explain the concept really well therefore making it easy for everyone to understand. Lot's of great things packed into 1 Fab lesson.
Awesome, thank you Peter! This is high praise coming from a master player like yourself!
Thank you for helping me string more than two or three cords together
You got it! Subscribe to the channel & check out the homepage for more videos like this one. Play on 🤙🎶😊
excellent lesson. I think you are the only on line teacher who has tips on using hands/fingers to get nice sounds without brute strength. What a difference it makes to avoid muscle cramps and frustration. About a year ago I found your lesson on gravity with bar chords. I honestly don't know how it worked, but suddenly I could play the dreaded B flat. Have been a "disciple" ever since!
Thanks Faythe 🙏🏻 For more about bar chords, I have a vid lesson “10 min bar chord overview”...playing can feel light with practice & glad you’re feeling it! it’s a process of undoing & removing the obstacles that stand in the way 😉🎉
I am a smooth jazz musician. I primarily play electric bass, guitar and 7 other instruments. Wanted to get into jazz ukelele and this is perfect!
Just started to spice up my playing with some jazzy chords and came across your video. Thank you so much for your energy man. It is so refreshing and relaxing just to listen to you.
Thanks for watching & for leaving a comment! Hope you’ll subscribe tot he channel for more vids - please become a patron for more goodies & perks for your music! Be well, Stu
“Oh, and don’t forget to smile at your hand”
I love those loon calls at 3:28...they have beautiful, haunting voices....
Thanks…I love them a lot -. Thanks for noticing 😊
Whoever gave this a thumbs down had to have made a conscious decision to be unteachable. VERY well done.
Thanks Todd...I appreciate your kind feedback! (I’m working on an ebook on this subject of jazzy chord intros) Play on, Stu
sometimes you can just open the video and smile about how patient and cool this guy is
Thanks so much 🙏🏻🎶 Music & meditation have served to relax me 😉🤙 Wishing you well
One of the best lessons on jazz chord progressions for beginners! Thank you a mile!
Natural teacher!!!
Thanks & have fun getting these chords under your fingers!
Dude, that painting in the background is RAD
Glad you dig it! It's called "Mother's Milk" by artist Heather Bruno Sears...a brilliant artist I used to know back in college.
UKULELE ZEN. What a great name for your relaxed style. Just what I needed during CORONA VIRUS STAY AT HOME ISOLATION.
Great lesson and I have subscribed today. Love your voice as well as your teaching. I am going to learn a lot from your sessions. Thanks from Robyn, sydney, Australia.
Thank you kindly! I wish you much peace & joy in your life & your music making....
Thanks Stu for bringing a smile to the world...:)
Cheers Graham! Enjoy playing these chords and passing along the smiles 😊

It’s funny. Now I remember.... It’s with this video that I first discovered your channel. Sometimes it’s your lucky day.....🤗
Happy to watch it again, and to work again this very good series of jazz chords with a lot of chords diagrams 😉😄 ...... 😘
Thanks :-) I'm working on more jazzy intro professions....coming soon to a French village near you! Save an espresso for me please.
You got a good voice, could you make a whole video just on that song you were doing at 3:50 "It could only be you..." I want to hear more!
I’ll make more videos of jazzy songs soon! Thanks for watching & wishing you well, Stu
Thanks for wonderfully displaying the cords when you show how to play them - top notch!
My pleasure! Happy playing!
After years of playing guitar I have finally bought a ukulele for myself :) It's my first day, but I have to admit, it has a certain charm :)
Sweet! Ukuleles are SO fun! Thanks so much for watching - please subscribe to this channel and ring the notification bell to keep in the loop of more helpful videos like this one 🎶🤙
i just watched the first 3 min. and only that pushed my uku-game one a whole new level. Thanks a lot :)
Sweet! Good to hear Rumo!
Loved it. Thanks, Stu. Do you have any tutorials on how to grow a couple of extra fingers on my left hand?
Lol Jinni! Wish there was a meditation for that 😉 Playing on a soprano does make the hand really big, really quick! Best to you & Dave
Men, you are a genius, what a good method to teach
Thanks for watching...please subscribe for more goodies :-) Be well & happy playing, Stu
You're a great teacher and very easy to pay attention to!! THANK YOU!!!!
Wow, thank you! Happy strumming 🎶
This is so helpful!! You are a natural teacher Stu!
I'm really a guitar player who owns a ukulele. I find this very informative and entertaining. I can bash out Chinese Laundry Blues by George Formby (the U.K.'s most famous ukulele player - George Harrison was president of the George Formby Preservation society) but that's as clever as I get - so I really enjoyed your lesson. Many thanks.
I like the loon...
Dim7 is my favorite ukulele magic fingershape. 4 chords for the price of 1! And as you say, repeats every 3 frets. It was my motivation for digging into a little theory to find out why.
Great! The dim7 chord is MAGIC...and I’ll share more sometime soon :)
Stu I love what you do! I brought a guitarlele last Sunday Dec 23. I've never played a stringed instrument before but I have played keyboards ,organ, piano since I was a young boy. Anyways I love your style of teaching. After watching this video I wrote a cool jazzy tune using this progression and a few barred chords! Thank you! I'm now a follower please pick up a guitarlele and do some tutorials. I'm all in! Thank you! Help me make the guitarlele famous and Funtastic! For now I'm watching ukulele vids and a guitarlele chord chart and improving, that's the Nawlns/ New Orleans way! Holla back!
NOLA Is one of my favorite places on earth! I listen to WWOZ online all the time... I had the pleasure of spending six weeks in the Crescent city back in 2012 playing in the streets etc.… It was a really life altering experience! Good luck with your guitar ukulele in Mexico they called it a Requinto. I have one of those someday I’ll make a video for it and I hope you catch it 😉
@@UkuleleZen when you make it I will catch it! I'll get notified!
@@UkuleleZen I'm glad you loved Nola! You gotta go back!
I was at a Uke tutorial session with Stu in Northern CAL. The man is good, very good. Jim Hill was there too. These guys are great.
Thanks Michael - I hope to return to No. Cali someday! Be well & happy playing, Stu
Even 5 years later this video is fantastic. Surprised I was able to keep up with
Great lesson. I always have trouble making that Am7 chord shape, but I keep trying!
Hey Glen! You are THE MAN when it comes to jazzy ukulele & chord shapes! Miss you & hope you’re doing well 😊🎶🤙
If you're struggling to play an Am7, don't fret!
Zing!!! Nice one Bill :-)
If you're struggling to play C6, stop fretting.
Thanks Ukulele Zen.😀
I was frowning working on those chords, until you said SMILE at your hand. It helped. I have no music education and your explanations were spot on. Playing those first chord's together as the video was paused was good. The stuff after....well let's just say it will be a finger stretching weekend, haha. Thanks Stu 🙌
Happy day all ways.
Smiling! Yay!! Yes, It’s all about the pause! 😉 Taking the time to notice (and appreciate yourself and your efforts)...the space you bring to your practice is, in my view, more important than the content. Play on!
This gives off some major Bob Ross vibes. Super calming.
Sweet! I appreciate that comparison Anjali 😊 Thanks for watching - please subscribe for more vids from this channel: th-cam.com/users/ukulelezen

I love that little tip you picked up for working the 2nd finger joint. I also have neglected training that very same joint and, like you, was thinking no way I can do it. I thought it was just my biological make up, where some can do it others can't. But there is hope. :) I will trying working that joint. As you say, very useful being able to bar those minor 7th, leaving the pinky free. Great tip thanks.
Love old Jazz cats.
Thanks Steve! Little by little that knuckle can really open up - and...it's a personal thing. No worries if it doesn't of course :). Be well & please subscribe to the channel for more content like this! goo.gl/rMXsnw
