    Matt, I've mentioned before what an awesome team you have. But, I've not mentioned how YOU have created such a large group of subscribers for Fab Rats, Robby Layton, Trail Mater, Bleepin Jeep, Mischief Maker and others. They're ALL great channels and to see you all come together on a common goal to help Ed is amazing. And that's not to mention all the great charity work that you've contributed to as well. ALL of you put a spotlight on what being a caring and giving community is all about. God Bless each and every one of you for that.

      Kind of weird I get the impression that they either think they’re above everyone and most people don’t care to be around them very often. Like trail recon and lite Brite both work for E3 and I think I’ve only seen them in like 2 videos together. I don’t know just made me think of that for some reason
      There’s a good list of 20-30 Jeep channels that get together pretty regularly and lite brite is never around

      I saw that and immediately started worrying that it was going to come off. In my thousands of miles of towing, the only thing I lost was a spare tire which had been on the rack of the tow vehicle. Not sure how it jumped off, but glad I didn't need it for the trailer for the rest of the 1700 mile trip. It had been on a 19 ft Winnebago travel trailer and had a unique large pattern. The trailer had gotten ant infested and the previous owner had Sawzalled it down to the frame.

      While I am not a big four wheeler, I was parking up at a trailhead WAY up in the mountains in early November and another truck pulled up at the same time. As they were unloading, I asked them if they minded me giving them a small 'tip'. I told them to look how I faced my truck downhill instead of flat. With an 'iffy' forecast, there might be some wet snow and, if facing downhill, it will get you moving when you might not be able to on flat or uphill..... It managed to snow that day and the truck was gone when we got back. A note on my windshield said "Thanks for the tip...". Also, I have bounced things out of my bed before, so EVERYTHING gets tied down or is under my NEW cargo net. I learned that when I had a tire go through my back window......

      Awesome quotes! The last time I ran out of gas was 1984, on a motorcycle heading west out of Needles CA. on I-40. The bike stopped 2 miles from a 100 foot tall sign that said "gas" and as I started to push my heavily loaded bike, which was also heavy, a helpful couple stopped and we hooked up a tow rope (wrapped around the handle bar so I could quickly release) They pulled me along the shoulder right up to the pumps, would not accept anything for the tow and left with smiles on their faces. I have not run out of fuel since, 38 years and counting (knocks on wood).

      Her SUV was facing downwards on a reasonably steep incline IN SOFT SAND, (that tends to collapse onto itself), and she prob. only had one wheel really stuck or buried in the sand because of that angle/side incline/"trough" that she drove into, (without diff locks to power that one wheel out), but so that loose sand downhill slope is why even the slightest little nudge from the Morrvair got her out easily. (That would be my guess, from attempting (and failing) to climb these types of sandy hills myself in my totally stock SUV.) That kind of loose, powdery "blow" sand is definitely NO joke, it will completely bury a tire of a vehicle literally in just a few quick seconds if any one criteria of the climb (or even decent sometimes), isn't totally in your favor!

    A fair warning to you Matt, (if you aren't already aware of it), is that any/every time that you ever see cows/cattle on the side of, (or in the middle of), the road, always, ALWAYS, drive by them VERY slowly, so as not to startle them, and because they have a VERY common tendency to run across the road literally RIGHT in front of you, (they're not the smartest of the smartest animals), so if you're going too fast for the road surface conditions, (sand, gravel, mud, etc), to stop on a dime for them when they do that, then you may end up hitting one of them, hurting not only them, but your vehicle also, and THAT would NOT make for a good day! (I live in the SW US also, and I say that from experience dealing with having cows on the road, from living out in the country, ~50 miles of adobe dirt/sand/arroyo/rocky "road" from the nearest town, for about 20 years of my life, so we saw them crossing the road at the last second like that happen numerous times on our trips out to town.)
    Also, in the last segment, why is Lizzy's mouth all numb like that? What happened? (Hopefully not an accident while she was horse riding or cattle roping!)(dentist appt. maybe?)

      Depends on situation and on how good/bad the traction control is implemented in the car. I have seen many cars where traction control made everything only worse, but when done properly it can be better in most situations than any driver simply because it can react faster and can brake each wheel independently.
      On sand though it is allways better to go with traction control off.

    • @jeffking6672
      @jeffking6672 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're going to get off road, traction control, stability control and antilock breaks all tend to cause all sorts of problems. They are just some features that tend to make modern vehicles problematic for off road adventure. On the other hand, fuel injection, electric fuel pumps and switchable lockers and anti sway bars are fantastic improvements. Mostly you just have to understand your vehicle and do what you can to make the most of it's strengths, and overcome the weaknesses. For many people they are totally unaware of the features the vehicle does have and how they affect them in different situations.

      Yeah, I bet that was scary! And that's why, (especially when off roading in a (mostly) stock vehicle), you should always WALK up a steeper (i.e. "blind" top) hill first to see what's on the other side of it before attempting to climb it with your vehicle, that way you don't accidentally end up driving into a hole like that, or even worse, off of a cliff or sharp edge that goes straight down into a ravine or something! (That's also why you should never wheel at night, in the dark, because the shadows from your headlights totally hide just how much of a drop-off something is!)
