It’s brilliant to see Harry’s ‘Have a go’ attitude on the digger there & all those moments will stand for him on the farm going forward so fair play 👍👍👍
That is a great, crunchy drive now. I'll bet the water will drain better through it. Too bad we didn't get to see Mrs. C's excitement at her present!!!
Sorry to say but I think you are going to regret not putting a layer of Terram down first before the gravel, especially having hit the clay seam. It lets the water drain down from the top but stops it coming up from below. Needs a decent roller over that now to bind it together otherwise half of it will be out in the yard in a few weeks. Good thing with it is you will always hear someone turn up to park now. Crack on
Great video👍 Mrs. C must be over the moon😁Over 3 ton digger on a trailer weighing ??? behind a transit custom🤔🤷♂️🙈. If Farmer P came with his it would be on the back of his Defender which will be at its max.
Hi Richard and Harry, Another great job Richard at least you can now hear who is coming or going, We have gravel all around our house 🏠 and not only that your yard looks very clean and nice well done, Take care of yourself and stay safe.🚜🎄🎄⭐️⭐️👍👍
Drive looking good. Nice Christmas present for you and your wife. I went back and watched your videos from 10 yrs ago and got to see your dad and your brother. Jack was young and wore glasses.
this time of year my wife complains about the cold, its always cold, always drafty when doors open, cats let cold in when they go through cat flap, so i thought long and hard... and it took me all of... what... 5 minutes... and i knew exactly what to get her... it will keep her warm and cossy through the night... all day... so i bought her a bag of coal lol
Given Hazza's skill with the digger I'm sure he'll be a good macihne operator ... including tractors at the right age of course! Well done Rich for exposing him to all these things! Merry Christmas Mrs C!
Funky Farmer, we bought mum a vacuum cleaner once for Christmas, it was a real pain because she threw it through the window, Dad ended up cooking the dinner and I had to fit a ply sheet to cover the hole. Pea gravel should only be used in an enclosed space, such as a trench for bedding pipes, or the anulus of a tunnel lining to reduce the amount of grout used. In the trench it aid drainage but does not clog, in the tunnel it allows the cement grout to travel through it and form a seal to the lining. Harry is a natural and don't let H&S hold him back, properly supervised he will be backing up tractors and trailers no bother. I drove my uncles grey Fergy when on school holidays in the late 50s. Just steering a straight line while the hand pickers filled basket of spuds and dumped them into the trailer. My first job on leaving school was on a dairy farm, that grew all its own feed. I got adept at reversing trailers both single axle and ex British Roadways steer axle ones. Did tip a bale loaded one over. turning too sharp but you learn quick when you have to reload it alone. Joined the YFA and my boss entered me in the trailer backing competition at the Herts Show. The course was several backing movements through bollards, a 3-point turn and reverse into a bay. I won and the boss took me to the beer tent, and I don't remember much after that.
We had a couple of those 4 wheel trailers on the farm where I started work. Reversing them is an art, we used to laugh getting the Students to try. 😹😹😹
Hi Richard that happens too ever yard / Street over time , it seals up on top as the mud comes up through the stone over the years , only thing I find for a farm yard or road abit off mud holds every thing together
You have a beautiful home, Richard. Off the top of my naive head I want to call it a cobblestone house. Is it 400+ years old? All the beautiful mullions in the windows. They don't do that anymore, do they? Just big single sheets of glass. Well, if you were in the U.S. prairie or other house out west in the 1800s, windows were without any glass, just wood shutters over them for winter. And maybe only one window. Hafta block the winter wind and blizzards, out in those open lands. Anyway. Love the new stone sound, nice and crunchy!
Great vblog. You need a new drive for all the cars . Harry's, Jack's, and your own 😊 and any visitors You should have let John metal detect over the drive before you lay the new gravel.
That base you dug down to was solid ! Much less came out that I thought. I repaired a track earlier this year - only did about 100m but it took 160 tons 😮. Always more gravel than I think there will be is my experience. 😅
Reminds me of a joke. To impress your neighbours, press rice krispies into tyre treads for that fresh gravel look and sound. I'd be happy with that prezzie as I was with a drop saw, drill, planer and router for my 40th.. don't think cashier at local hardware store believed hubby that it was for me. 20yrs later still using them, though hubby's broken😄
Hi Richard, great video, however I would have put some teram membrane underneath that would let the water flow through but would stop the mud and dirt coming up through the gravel. Harry looked to be a budding excavator operator a useful asset for the future crack on 👍
Anthony is great on that Doosan, well worth the money. I do worry about the 265 Link Arms being down when you have the trailer on. Could be expensive if you catch them with the drawbar.
Don’t knock Subarus. Two of our best farm vehicles have been Subarus😂. Nice drive! I gave “The Cheesemaker” a new parking area in October. It was a thrash. But it sure is nice to keep the Mrs happy!
Have a go Hazza 😁 Harry reminds me how I was at his age, whenever a JCB or other Digger was working in the village I'd go and pester the driver for a play. Then later when I was in farming if any any new machine turned up, even if only on Demonstration I'd try to get on have a go as never know when a bit of experience would come in handy. Craic On 👍
The problem is how thick ! too deep will vehicles have movement problems, I assume the people who you get to do the job will be using a Wacker Plate to compact it and on laying will it be mixed with Dust (cement) to firm it up, I'm sure Mrs P is over the moon with her Xmas Pressie.😂
Im abhored to see a so called professional 360 driver pull or dig across the tracks, that is unsafe and bad practice more so that amateurs watching could do likewise. You should always dig with the blade at front or rear and is the stability of the machine when doing so. Happy New year Richard and hope our weather improves Soon.
Oh yeah I'm just a know it all that spent over 25 years driving 360s from three quarter ton to over twenty tons and seen more turned over than you could believe. This accounts for most 360 accidents per year. Think on.
That statement shows you know nothing. Firstly you don't need to level the machine with the blade unless your on steep ground .secondly the idea of the blade is to have it dug into the ground at the front and you pull against this if not the machine can up end. That benefit is not there when you dig across tracks hence my concern and statement.

No saw it all - just don’t view it as a wise decision having been in construction for nearly 50 years. Just not something you do I’m afraid
Nice to be called a Kiddo at 67
Great video👍 Mrs. C must be over the moon😁Over 3 ton digger on a trailer weighing ??? behind a transit custom🤔🤷♂️🙈. If Farmer P came with his it would be on the back of his Defender which will be at its max.
Little bit naughty. And the trailer of gravel. But we all bend the rules sometimes
Great job Richard, will last for years. Hazza was a natural on the excavator 😊

The concentration on Harry's face!
If I went spray painting cattle, I would be prosecuted as a vandal 😂.

Great video Richard Mrs c is so lucky getting a Christmas present as good as that
If you put Terram membrain down first, it will stop the dirt/mud from raising up and keep the stones from ending up like your driveway is now
Hi Richard that happens too ever yard / Street over time , it seals up on top as the mud comes up through the stone over the years , only thing I find for a farm yard or road abit off mud holds every thing together
Cracking old Marshall trailer
I got a Chainsaw one year for a wedding anniversary present.😂

Good job done lads.
In that excavator he is a smooth operator 🎵 🎶
😂😂😂

Great machine every farm should have one
The gravel looks like graded beach shingle. As long as you don't have water bubbling out from the clay it shouldn't bleed upwards that much

Hello
The Funky Farmer
Lovely Christmas present.
That looks very nice Richard, Harry likes to get in and have a go at things. CRACK ON
Mrs C is a lucky luck girl. 😂😂
I do hope you got her a little something wrapped under the tree. Drive will be great.
Nice job. Looks smart now
Great job looks nice well done
Don’t knock Subarus. Two of our best farm vehicles have been Subarus😂. Nice drive! I gave “The Cheesemaker” a new parking area in October. It was a thrash. But it sure is nice to keep the Mrs happy!
A very Happy New Year to you and all your family
Good job should last a good few year's 👍 good job Harry 👍
Happy new year to you all 🥳🍻🥂🥳
Estimate 2½ tons gravel per cubic metre unless you get a specification from the supplier.
Mrs C will be thrilled.
Have a go Hazza 😁 Harry reminds me how I was at his age, whenever a JCB or other Digger was working in the village I'd go and pester the driver for a play. Craic On 👍
Happy new year
How the heck did you get all that under the tree?
The problem is how thick ! too deep will vehicles have movement problems, I assume the people who you get to do the job will be using a Wacker Plate to compact it and on laying will it be mixed with Dust (cement) to firm it up, I'm sure Mrs P is over the moon with her Xmas Pressie.😂
now you will hear farmer p creeping in to the yard.
Another good video hope u had a good Christmas happy new year too you and family
Does the old 265 need a muffler update seem loud to me,
Great tractor and dump trailer,
We have a digger but it's an old 90s komatsu that is a pain to start the starter sticks so you have to hit it with a hammer to get it to start 😂
Rich you are the last of the great romantics!!
Who is Mrs c when she's at home
New man on the digger. You know how to look after your wife you got her road plannings one year 😂😂 HARR HARR
15 tonnes if you remove 6 inches 😂
I thought you might have a few armchair “experts” commenting 🤣
why didn't you concrete it like the rest?
Does your brother live on the farm richard
It's a pity the driver mixed up the old grass and clay with the gravel you could have used .
you will have to wash your wellies off in the parlour going in now plenty of hardcore for the farm tracks his digging out
I bought my wife two gold bangles for Christmas and let’s just say I didn’t need kaymars 🤣😂
LOL
nice 😊
Should have wrapped the gravel.
???
Think you need 12 tonnes lest have a guess who is closest to the mark
Hi Richard great video ❤
Why didn’t you ask farmer p to use his digger I’m sure he would of been happy to help and saved you a few quid
you need take harry to digger land he will love it
👍

What are you on about. He was only scraping the top off. Dear me. A know it all who knows nothing 😂
Oh yeah I'm just a know it all that spent over 25 years driving 360s from three quarter ton to over twenty tons and seen more turned over than you could believe. This accounts for most 360 accidents per year. Think on.
How else are you supposed to level the machine with out putting the blade down 😂”so called professional operator”
That statement shows you know nothing. I think you better stick to being a keyboard warrior than a machine driver chap lest agree to disagree because there’s no telling you your wrong 😂
Would of been a good job and video with farmer p
😄😁😆😅🤣😂🙂
Hi Richard why didn't you get Ian to come over with his digger would of been a laugh
🇮🇪🇮🇪👍👍🙏🙏👌👌
