As someone whos played every single kh game for the past 20 years. The lore isn't that hard to understand, there is just a LOT of lore and much of it is optional because you have to read the in game journal and secret reports
I think it starts getting convoluted from Dream Drop Distance due to the introduction of a certain thing. Which is another way of saying, there's a lot of lore to keep track of.
Yeah everyone seems to make kh seem like no one understands it but people who have played every game in the collections don't complain about the story by the time they are in kh3 or 0.2
The full lore hard to access, a major part of it is is in a mobile game that shut down, which is preserved in youtube videos but they are several hours long. Back cover tells some of the kh X lore, but not all of it sadly.
Honestly, play all of them on camera. They all hold up, they are all amazing and if you arent hooked by the end of the first game, nothing else will hook you.
Yes, the KH lore is confusing but not on the level of Fnaf lore. Play in release order, some recommend timeline order but that will confuse you worse. KH1 - Sora lives on the World of Destiny Island with his two best friends whom he gets separated from and journeys to fight the Heartless in order to find them and bring them home. KH Chain / ReChain : Sora, Donald and Goofy go to a mysterious castle where he slowly loses his memories but discovers something new. KH2 : Roxas has memories of Sora and doesn't know why, he tries to investigate before his vacation is over. KH 358 / 2 : Learn the truth of Roxas. KH Birth by Sleep : Learn about the first Keyblade Trio. KH Dream Drop Distance : Riku and Sora take a Mark of Mastery test to become true Keyblade Masters. After this you can watch the Union Cross / X stuff. Then finally KH3 / Remind. May your heart be your guiding key as you watch / play these games.
Welcome to the community. And if you want to play the games, get the All in One Collection. It's a three disc combo that has the games that makes up the story upto KH3. With two games having been remade as movies and a movie tie-in for the Mobile game Kingdom Hearts X. In fact, the mobile games X and Darkroad do have relevence to the main series of games. You just have to watch the cutscenes via some videos since the games can't be played anymore. Also we have Melody of memories which is a Rhythm game that acts as a recap for the series while also continuing the story into the next phase. If you don't want to play the game, I do recommend watching the cutscenes via a video.
I've been informed I missed a few games/trailers in the series, if you add them to this comment as a reply I will check them out in a separate video maybe!
So, the games you missed are: Kingdon Hearts Re:coded (Nintendo DS), Kingdon Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance (Nintendo 3DS), Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, The DLC for KH3 "Re Mind" And there are another KH games on mobile.

The reason that KH 3 took so long to make was because a bunch of reason. One reason was that the director Tetsuya Nomura was trying to make another game FF versus 13 ( later named FFXV which he had to leave production to focus on KH) and FF 7 remake. Also the company abandon they're game engine into the production of KH 3 and FF7, so they had to rebuild the games in Unreal Engine 4. The most important reason though was that they announced it WAY to early; the first trailer of KH 3 was literally all they had and it was just a concept. Anyways, I hope you play them and have doing them. I grew up either playing them, watching walkthroughs if I couldn't buy them, theory crafting. They were my obsession and my childhood
I feel like announcing games too early is a consistent problem in the industry. So many companies will push stuff back again and again and 9/10 it feels like it boils down to they probably should have just waited 6 more months to announce it lol

I'm not gonna mention the plot... but what I will mention is that Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 that were re-released on modern consoles and PC are slightly different than the ones in the original American release. In the original launch, they were just Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2... but Japan would get Kingdom Hearts Final Mix versions for 1 and 2.. which was basically the same as the base game but with extra content like additional bosses, extra cutscenes, and special items.... and for some weird reason the normal enemies in KH1 Final Mix were given completely different color palettes than the ones in the original launch. (I recommend looking at a video about it AFTER you beat the game because it's one of the only things where the Original did it better than the Final Mix version.)
This is not a spoiler, and isn’t even a big function of the game, but the black cloaks allow safe passage through a realm of darkness, so they can be worn by anyone, heroes and villains.
Hi Gilbetta! A quick aside for you if you do play this wonderful series, there's a lot of releases and re-releases, and remasters and... just. Wow. When you play, go in order of 1.5, 2.5, 2.8, 3. The games are listed in those megapackages in correct playing order. Like turning pages in a book. They're on every modern platform including PC (but like, don't play it on switch it's horrid) and they're ordered in play order. The only downside is that two of the games are not converted to a new engine and were instead made into movies. These are KH: 358/2 and KH RE:Coded. These are both games that were not converted to the PS2/3/4 like Chain. I would personally say play 358 if you can, but if not the movie acceptable. Coded was literally on flip phones, released as RE:Coded for DS. RE by the way is just the game's way of saying 'this is the version you should play' before they used .5's But yeah, not only are the x.5 editions of the games remasters of the original releases, they have INSANE bugfixes that make them playable. In original KH1 there is no joystick camera control, for instance. 1.5 fixed that. They also added a bunch of content that wasn't possible on the original releases, like things the engine just couldn't handle or content that was Japan exclusive. So in short, no matter what you do play on the latest .5 and .8 releases.
Damn, I never watched them all together like this, I never realized that they used the same song for like 90% of the trailers. From kh1 to kh3. Most of the time it was the orchestral version, but a few times it was the jpop vocal versions, both the Japanese vocal version and the English vocal version, even an edm remix of the English version was in one of them. Also your endless debate on whether the council of cloaks was good or bad was absolutely hilarious the whole way through, especially as someone who knows what their deal is.
I highly recommend this series to anyone that’s looking for their next game series to binge. Yeah, the writing can be cheesy and the voice acting can be not very good at times, but it’s a really fun time and has some surprisingly deep gameplay as well as genuinely heartfelt moments between all the characters.
its really hard to explain kingdom hearts without actually playing for all the context. the first game is simple but they added more and more layers as more games came out. They made a prequel which was birth by sleep fun fact in birth by sleep they got mark hamil and leonard nimoy to voice the two old masters
Hahaha 😂"blood packed" I've played the first two games when they came out, but my interest in it kind of fell off after chain of memories came out.. I never played any of it again until like maybe five years ago when it came out on PSN in a bundle for PS4 and then I'm sure I played some of the games out of order and of course I did not finish any of them. since then I've started watching people play the games, but I'm not really interested in three or four… You know, in hindsight, this is really awkward, but Dragon Ball Z was like this based off of the power of friendship, this would be Dragon Ball Z without the Dragon Balls 🤣🤣🤣🤣 am I as crazy as that sounds
I will say while playing the series, the story makes sense however watching just the trailers…the story doesn’t make sense. Also I don’t know if they made a trailer for it (I’m pretty sure they did) but you missed Melody of Memory.
I’ll say play it all so you can understand the lore behind kingdom hearts series. If you want to I’ll sent you the order of the game to understand the story. It worth it and you’ll fall in love with this game
Yah kingdomhearts just has a lot of lore, and it’s fun for both story and gameplay, a lot of things happenes so just have fun and take your time. The door will open soon for you!
Here's my advice if your a new fan. If you have Playstation, buy the KH 1.5 & 2.5 collection. That has KH1, KH2, KH Birth by Sleep. Those are the main games. I think Dream Drop Distance is playable on there too...(I think, could be wrong.) But definitely play those three games, then just watch a cutscene movie compilation for the side games. They dont need to be played to understand the story. People claim the story is conveluted, but i never found that the case.
whoever compiled this did you a favor a bunch of the kh3 trailers literally just spoiled the game. One was called the final battle and it just showed a cutscene from near the end of the game.
I actually compiled it based on the research I did. I definitely missed some games from being a bit hesitant to look at too much due to trying to avoid spoilers, glad I left that one out!
If you have never played Kingdom Hearts, I think you will like it. The story is a bit confusing based on the actual release order and the timeline in the games. Since you like Alice in Wonderland, I think you would really love what the game has in store for her. Alice doesn't get a lot of screen time during the game, but she has an important role storywise.
Yeah Kingdom Hearts can be a bit to get the full story, the order is Get KH 1.5 collection Play KH1 Play KH Chain of Memories Do not watch the KH 358/2 movie just yet Buy KH 2.5 collection Play KH 2 Either go back to KH 1.5 collection to watch the KH 358/2 Days movie or my preferred route, get a DS and a Days cartridge (or emulate it) and play 358/2 Days since as a cut scene collection it does cause you to miss out on quite a bit of the story Return to KH 2.5 collection Play KH Birth by Sleep Watch KH Re:Coded movie Buy KH 2.8 collection Play KH Dream Drop Distance Play KH 0.2: Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage Look up a cut scene collection of a old gacha game KH X Return to KH 2.8 collection Watch KH X Back Cover Buy KH 3 Play KH 3 Buy KH Melody of Memory Play KH Melody of Memory Download a gahca game, KH Dark Road Play KH Dark Road Wait for KH 4, maybe watch a 6 hour video essay on TH-cam about why Riku is gay (yes there is one)
19:08 The final fantasy characters, care their own people, for the most part. But there are a few final fantasy characters that are just copied and pasted. Implying crazy things.
I suppose the first trailers only focused on attracting the Disney fans and Final Fantasy fans thinking that'd be enough to get enough interest, it certainly worked, but those who don't really care for those 2 may have gotten a "meh" feeling, still the game itself is good, the gameplay great but perfected by the second game, also after the second game the story becomes too complicated since you gotta keep up with the side content coming on other consoles like GBA, nds, psp a gacha game, since all of that is canon, so you can't just play KH1 then 2 and 3 and think you can understand every reference.
The Arandelle world is definitely the result of executive meddling from Disney. It's a shame too, based on the hints that remain of what might have been, both on the surface in the form of repurposed assets and below the surface, and considering that I've heard Frozen 2 didn't do well.
I didn't come across that one, but if its called the "final battle trailer" I wouldn't have watched it anyways because it sounds like spoiler central haha
Yeah the first few trailers for Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 kinda do nothing for anybody trying to get the jist of the story but they do better later. And I really hope you play these someday. I love finding new people that play Kingdom Hearts for the first time 😊
@GilbettaGaming awesome! I don't ever get to tune into anyone's live streams so do you think there's any chance of uploading the vods here to youtube? If not then I at least hope you have a great time with them 😊
@GilbettaGaming ....so if intros contain spoilers for the entire game...why are they always at the beginning? Didn't quite click there did it? 😅 To be quite honest I think you could make an intro video (only do KH1 And KH2) and I think your numbers will be comparable to this vid or higher. Builds hype around live plays as well and it's familiar territory for KH TH-cam community.🤙🏾Gewd Luck
To be honest, I don't remember. There was a reason, I believe it was either too similar to other things I'd already seen or I just didn't really have anything to say about it after it was over, nor did i say anything interesting during it. I tend to cut those trailers for time and because i find it boring just watching nothing happen during what's supposed to be a "reaction" video.
@@GilbettaGaming yeah a good amount of games and trailers got left out of this list and you only reacted to mainly the collections and not the other games like union cross, dark road, and Melody of memory.
I really am having a hard time understanding WHY you are watching trailers of something and expecting them to tell you the plot. Aren't good trailers supposed to NOT do that? You really just need to stop trying so hard to analyze everything, and just sit back, relax and just take in the FEELING of what you're seeing, instead of this unneeded confusion you are forcing on yourself. Over the course of the games, everything will just naturally come in and reveal itself whenever it needs to.
That's why I watch the trailers for that, I know they are the safest option spoiler wise, but still give me some idea about the general feel of the game. I always go in thinking to just watch and enjoy, but as I'm just naturally inquisitive just cant help but trying to unravel the entire plot and subtext from the trailers 🤣😅

I had the first portion of this video on in the background. And then I heard "blood pact". :o
just seemed like the most obvious conclusion to me hahah
@@GilbettaGaming I now see Kingdom Hearts in a different light. =p
🤣🤣🤣
I highly recommend this series to anyone that’s looking for their next game series to binge.
Yeah, the writing can be cheesy and the voice acting can be not very good at times, but it’s a really fun time and has some surprisingly deep gameplay as well as genuinely heartfelt moments between all the characters.
Now you have to see "why i cant introduce kingdom hearts to my friend"😂
for first timers relese order is best, for your second time around bbs or the mobile cutscenes can be first it really doesn't matter.
Don't worry alot of those trailers appeared to the people who know the lore with no context too so you are just about as lost as they were
Please play the games live you will love the story and lore I promise
My advice play in the order of release
its really hard to explain kingdom hearts without actually playing for all the context. the first game is simple but they added more and more layers as more games came out. They made a prequel which was birth by sleep
fun fact in birth by sleep they got mark hamil and leonard nimoy to voice the two old masters
Do we have a new fan
Psh... Nooooo *sweating heavily* Hahahaha *summons keyblade and expertly wields it*
@@GilbettaGaming lol thats what im talkin about
Hahaha 😂"blood packed"
I've played the first two games when they came out, but my interest in it kind of fell off after chain of memories came out.. I never played any of it again until like maybe five years ago when it came out on PSN in a bundle for PS4 and then I'm sure I played some of the games out of order and of course I did not finish any of them. since then I've started watching people play the games, but I'm not really interested in three or four…
You know, in hindsight, this is really awkward, but Dragon Ball Z was like this based off of the power of friendship, this would be Dragon Ball Z without the Dragon Balls 🤣🤣🤣🤣 am I as crazy as that sounds
@28:34 YES TIME FOR MY FAVORITE!!!
@18:03 kh 2 best boys turn
Here's my advice if your a new fan. If you have Playstation, buy the KH 1.5 & 2.5 collection. That has KH1, KH2, KH Birth by Sleep. Those are the main games. I think Dream Drop Distance is playable on there too...(I think, could be wrong.) But definitely play those three games, then just watch a cutscene movie compilation for the side games. They dont need to be played to understand the story. People claim the story is conveluted, but i never found that the case.
Wait till you find out that the link between KH3 and KH4 is a Rhythm music game.
whoever compiled this did you a favor a bunch of the kh3 trailers literally just spoiled the game. One was called the final battle and it just showed a cutscene from near the end of the game.
I actually compiled it based on the research I did. I definitely missed some games from being a bit hesitant to look at too much due to trying to avoid spoilers, glad I left that one out!
KH Lore may be confusing from the outside but onece youre in it youll understand all of it... well most of it
If you want to know the story you'll wanna either play the games or watch A Good Enough Summary of Kingdom Hearts
I will play it all JUST for the Alice stuff! muahahahaha
Kingdom Hearts 2 announced said Kingdom Hearts 3 was coming out on the PS3.
Yeah Kingdom Hearts can be a bit to get the full story, the order is
Get KH 1.5 collection
Play KH1
Play KH Chain of Memories
Do not watch the KH 358/2 movie just yet
Buy KH 2.5 collection
Play KH 2
Either go back to KH 1.5 collection to watch the KH 358/2 Days movie or my preferred route, get a DS and a Days cartridge (or emulate it) and play 358/2 Days since as a cut scene collection it does cause you to miss out on quite a bit of the story
Return to KH 2.5 collection
Play KH Birth by Sleep
Watch KH Re:Coded movie
Buy KH 2.8 collection
Play KH Dream Drop Distance
Play KH 0.2: Birth by Sleep -A Fragmentary Passage
Look up a cut scene collection of a old gacha game KH X
Return to KH 2.8 collection
Watch KH X Back Cover
Buy KH 3
Play KH 3
Buy KH Melody of Memory
Play KH Melody of Memory
Download a gahca game, KH Dark Road
Play KH Dark Road
Wait for KH 4, maybe watch a 6 hour video essay on TH-cam about why Riku is gay (yes there is one)
@43:00 i dunno play the games and find out.
23:10 Trailer Behemoths, my beloved.
@1:09:19 IS THAT SANS?!
Nice video, i also recommend you to watch the openings from each game.
Btw : fronzem is the worst world in KH games
Will the opening spoil anything? I thought about watching them but was worried about spoilers.
@GilbettaGaming yeah you right, I just re watch to be sure and every op is a amv that is a resume from de previous
The Arandelle world is definitely the result of executive meddling from Disney. It's a shame too, based on the hints that remain of what might have been, both on the surface in the form of repurposed assets and below the surface, and considering that I've heard Frozen 2 didn't do well.
Aw, I was hoping youd watch the final battle trailer for KH3, the hurt that that trailer showed.
I didn't come across that one, but if its called the "final battle trailer" I wouldn't have watched it anyways because it sounds like spoiler central haha
@GilbettaGaming kinda sorta. At the time, it just gave off a certain vibe but the actual game was different. But I see why you didn't watch it.
Please tell me you're going to play this...this is my favorite game I shared it with one of my best friends... she's no longer around
Yeah the first few trailers for Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 kinda do nothing for anybody trying to get the jist of the story but they do better later. And I really hope you play these someday. I love finding new people that play Kingdom Hearts for the first time 😊
The channel voted for me to start them next, so as soon as I catch up on FFXIV, I'll be live streaming it on Monday nights! :D
@GilbettaGaming awesome! I don't ever get to tune into anyone's live streams so do you think there's any chance of uploading the vods here to youtube? If not then I at least hope you have a great time with them 😊
@Ranesbane oh I stream here on YT so the vods will be available automatically after the streams end!
@GilbettaGaming oh wonderful! I'm so excited for this! Thank you for the info and I look forward to seeing more of you!
I've never seen anyone react to the KH trailers as opposed to the Intro's.
Its a bit jarring but hey...build interest the way you like
I was worried about spoilers in the intros 😬😅
@GilbettaGaming ....so if intros contain spoilers for the entire game...why are they always at the beginning?
Didn't quite click there did it? 😅
To be quite honest I think you could make an intro video (only do KH1 And KH2) and I think your numbers will be comparable to this vid or higher. Builds hype around live plays as well and it's familiar territory for KH TH-cam community.🤙🏾Gewd Luck
@thedappermagician6905 well its more about intros for later games spoiling events from previous games that was my concern 😂
Why did you cut out the Story So Far trailer?
To be honest, I don't remember. There was a reason, I believe it was either too similar to other things I'd already seen or I just didn't really have anything to say about it after it was over, nor did i say anything interesting during it. I tend to cut those trailers for time and because i find it boring just watching nothing happen during what's supposed to be a "reaction" video.
Kingdom Hearts is the best game series ever made
No missing link trailers?
Somehow that game never came up in all the lists I found, so I hadnt even heard of it until yesterday!
@@JonseyLetsPlays Has it even released yet?
@@GilbettaGaming yeah a good amount of games and trailers got left out of this list and you only reacted to mainly the collections and not the other games like union cross, dark road, and Melody of memory.
@@JonseyLetsPlays I did actually watch the Union Cross stuff but I didnt realize it was so connected story wise, so I cut them for time and brevity.
@@GilbettaGaming oh I see. Well it's fine. I hope you do more kh content
Nice
One sky. Sora=Sky.
that's meta AF lol
Do the openings and lore will be explained better... maybe...kinda😅
She did not in fact watch every trailer. Lol
Well I thought I did at least hahaha.
@GilbettaGaming KH3 itself had at least 5-10 trailers.
@thelazygamer1639 Yea I watched a few of them but had to make a final call for time and I didnt want to spoil EVERYTHING the game has for myself lol.
Watch the kingdom hearts parking lot video pls
Parking lot video? I feel like I'm missing a reference 🤣
Lol
This reaction sounds so fake most the time it was hard to watch.
Fortunately, you aren't required to watch it 💙
