Hello
I have a 56-line Yamaha m3000a analog mixer that uses both midi and vca ports. With what port can I connect it to the computer? Does this allow me?
Hi,
Unfortunately, Mixing station isn’t going to work with your console.
And I can’t see the xtouch working with it either.
Those things aren’t meant for use with an analog console.
Your midi connections are for scene and mute control.
And your VCA connections are for connecting another Yamaha mixer.
Sorry!
Hi,
I am trying to do exactly the same with X touch compact, but unfortunately unable to connect. Mixing station recognises the x touch but says it could not open the input device / could not add receiver. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Also, I am unable to connect my X air edit on PC with X touch compact either :(
Hi, I haven't personally experienced your issue, but the "input device" error sounds like a windows problem.
Do you have other audio devices connected to your computer that could be tying up ports?
You could try disabling any other devices in your windows audio mixer and then giving the connection another try.
Hey! Could I connect directly to the x edit softwares without mixing station?
Hi Joe,
Unfortunately, no.
Without mixing station, the xtouch connects directly to the mixer and not the software.
Which is fine. However, when you make selections on the Xtouch, those selections are not reflected in the X Edit software.
Basically, if you select EQ on the Xtouch for a channel, the software does not change to the EQ page for that channel.
Your changes still work, the windows just don't change with your selection. It's frustrating limitation of using the Xtouch directly with an XR mixer.
The only way to make that window change happen is by using either Mixing Station or OSIMIDI Stage as an intermediary software.
Hope that answers your questions sufficiently.
Thanks for watching and happy mixing!
Could I use any midi mixer with mixing station
Hi JC,
Any device that uses the MC (Mackie Control) or HUI (human user interface) protocol can be used.
Obviously, you’ll be limited by the devices type of available controls regarding what you can accomplish, but the general answer to you question is “yes!”.
