@@swaglordnord370 That honestly proves that point tho! ^^ Bc if there were way more than two and he didn't even realize then that really does show what shark was saying!
Fun fact is that usually when you feel something is off or someone is watching then something is. Your brain has perceived something wrong in the corner of your eye or subconsciously but it hasn't processed it fully so it feels "off" or that something is watching you. The human brain is an amazing organ full of millions of years of instinctual behaviour and experience. Between this and the uncanny valley thing I feel Alternate's would have a hard time tricking humanity.
There's also the theorized human tendency to desire completion in everything. Him going around each scene and seeing the "norm" establishes the "complete" picture of everything and where it should be. Going over it repeatedly is the mind being generally satisfies with the picture being complete. It's the moment where something doesn't quite ride so smoothly and makes the whole thing feel incomplete that our minds really scream out. Like a purple carrot in a grocery store amidst a pile of orange ones, your mind is fine with the pile of orange until that purple one hits your eyes. Suddenly that picture seems "incomplete". That is what can make these games both difficult and easy. It's difficult to establish the normal, but once you do, you can easily just pluck out that a room (not necessarily the specific anomaly) is wrong. In this iteration of the game, it helps a lot but it won't do you much good on older versions.
I mean, this is the same guy who can look at a fnaf camera for a split second and tell what animatronics are on it, this man's brain really is the biggest
At 34:39, you can see the stairs transform in the middle of the screen, which Mark doesn't notice until he moves to the room where it's entirely obvious. It's subtle, but you can just barely make it out. It's interesting how one room's anomalies appearing can be seen from another room.
I love watching Mark play games where he's a security guard handling supernatural forces beyond his control while maneuvering surveillance cameras until 6 AM.
31:28 Moments like these are an almost picture-perfect example of how a "gut reaction" is basically just the subconscious noticing something that the conscious mind wasn't aware of. Whenever you get a "bad feeling", it's not magic, but your brain being a lot more amazing than we give it credit for; and I think that's awesome.
Mark is a god at this game because the fact that he noticed there were just 4 books missing on a bookshelf hidden in the shadows (which I didnt even notice the bookshelf itself was there) just proves it.
I noticed it and even went back to double check tye b4 and after to see if I was right and when lixian pulled them up side by side I knew I was 100% correct and I was proud of myself for noticing
Mark has memorized that house so much he could live in it and know when any possible part of it is chipping or breaking down, he’d know in the blink of an eye Edit: jfc I never expected a comment I made to ever get this much attention and likes, thank you all for that! It’s made my day!
This is definitely one of the biggest accomplishments Markiplier has ever achieved on TH-cam. Dude discovered he had a sixth sense and mastered it in under 50 minutes
@@mnadhil1932 yeye I don't think the op meant it like actual hate, more like mark knows he'll suffer and get upset and still play it (cause he wants to know how much he can take, obvs not cause he's a masochist)
Mark noticing the books on the shelve missing while he couldn't even see what changed after the anomaly was fixed... just so impressive man! Holy shit!
As a life guard for many years Mark sort of gets the idea. You take eye scanning patterns but you also need to mix it up often as to not miss any section of the pool.
This game is brilliant. it forces you to increasingly focus on the minute details in each camera, freaking you out when it does nothing for a long time. Then it jump-scares you with something in your face, yet in a way that doesn't feel cheap. it is a truly unique form of horror
i dunno its kinda like the maze game where it forces you to really look at the screen before a jumpscare. i guess its like playing it after knowing theres gonna be a jumpscare
The blinds in the back being down appeared twice, I caught it the first time and the second time when he glossed over it I screamed inside Till he went back and checked it lol
7:18 I don't think I've ever jumped so hard and screamed alongside Mark before 🤣 I was so focused! I hope Mark plays more maps, it's very entertaining to play along with these.
The lifeguard thing is kinda true, we usually look for signs of life while scanning from corner to corner and occasionally doing a full bottom sweep to check for children or babies that are right below our feet. What I did was also keep in mind how often people came back up for air to make sure that nothin was off.
Yeah, I also worked as a lifeguard, and I'm on observation duty is totally like that, including the incredible anxiety, though usually nothing happens while you're lifeguarding except some folks breaking rules. But I was always concerned I would miss something or not notice fast enough, and now I even do it when I'm just at the beach for fun, which kinda sucks, 😕 but I guess it's always good to have an extra pair of eyes.
(*Pfff* here we go again...) All the anomalies Mark missed during his video: 14:00 ---> Bed changed in the Bedroom (he got it later) 20:37 ---> The plant disappeared in the Hallway 23:36 ---> Stairs appeared on the upper-right side in the Hall 24:45 ---> The far shutters are closed in the Office 27:56 ---> The far shutters are closed in the Office (he got it later) 28:45 ---> Gold ingots rearranged in the Vault (he got it later) 31:00 ---> All the barriers changed position in the Hall (he got it later) 36:27 ---> The dude in the painting is different (he got it later) 42:12 ---> It was the trash bin at the bottom of the Office , he got so lucky XD Wow, he did so well in this video ! He got lucky to not get the PEN disappearing in the Conference Room which is impossible to notice LUL Good job, Mark !
Wasn't the trash can at 23:03 meant to be a plant pot? you can see it as a plant pot when he first starts the level (Ignore me! I see you've written it as 'plant disappeared')
Hey everyone, back for more of Mark's missed anomalies! Mark doesn't leave me much to do here, but here we go: - Mark is doing great! He actually has no unchecked anomalies through the entire House level. The only "exception" is at 13:59, but he catches it at 14:38. - Not a missed anomaly but a fun fact - at 18:52, Mark encounters "the secret" (which will give you a Steam achievement). This man is Timothy, whom we encounter multiple times throughout the Observation Duty games. We love Timmy. - 20:36 - the plant is missing in the Hallway. Mark's "baseline" had that pot as a trash can, so he never even suspected something was wrong until he sees the plant at 25:27 during his next run. - 23:35 - some stairs have appeared on the right side upper floor - 24:46 - the blinds in the back are drawn. Interestingly, this is the anomaly that created the warning, but many anomalies will not occur when you're watching that particular camera. - The blinds that Mark pegged at 28:16 first appeared at 27:56. - Mark's realization of the gold bars at 29:56 was an anomaly that happened at 28:45 - At 31:30, Mark catches the anomaly that happened at 31:00 when he had an instinctive feeling about the Hall. Trust your instincts, friends.
There is a headlike object in the bottom right of the window in the game room at around 5 min and he passes it multiple times Edit: apparently it wasnt an anomoly as he fixes 3 coffe cups at around 8:30 and it doesnt disapear
34:40 anyone see the stairs get added live on camera in the middle in the background as soon ass markiplier looks to the far right? this was the later anomaly that mark saw as stairs
@@marshthecanadian9832 I think what they're talking about is in the upper-middle of the screen, right behind the wire mesh of the closest chandelier, just above the lightbulbs. You can see a kinda gray box turn into a striped box. You have to wait a second after the timestamp to see it
These videos are actually helping me as a lifeguard, the fast moving scenes help me with my 10/20 scan, ten seconds to recognize the guest in distress and 20 seconds to get to them. I've been going slow on my 10, so trying to scan the room in the amount of time mark does it speeds me up a bit while still recognizing abnormalities, or in my field, GID's. (Guest In Distress)

I remember when he said in the last one how he won't play anymore after that. And the person pointing out how "Yeah, okay Mark, can't wait to see you in the next one" was one of the top comments and they called it! I am so happy to see this series back, it's one of those hidden gems!
What these games need is a "What changed" mode after the game ends, where you can watch each room separately and see how things changed in your previous playthrough and how you responded. It'd help a lot in playing.
Yeah, I've been playing Para Eyes and it at least tells you what you missed afterwards, which really helped a lot learning the levels. Otherwise I'm sure I'd never become aware of some possible changes...
i dont think it needs to spoon feed you what you've missed afterwards, especially if you've lost [although it's unneeded when you win]. maybe it counts how many anomalies you missed in which rooms at most? to hint at which rooms you need to focus on more, but them again this game is supposed to be difficult, no hints no nothing.
@@paigethedork9693 No, it needs the option. If you don't want to use it, select "Go to main menu" or "Play again" rather than "See what you missed." That way, rather than deciding to tell people who need or want the help to get fucked, everyone can have what they want.

Gotta say im really proud of Mark for finishing the House level , he did better than me 😂 i didn't see half of the things he noticed either that or im just really bad at this😂
Well he did do like 5 tries, and he also looked up the anomalies that could happen. Plus, he almost finished like 3 tries, just messed up the inside vs outside thing too much. It's still very entertaining though lol
9:52 Markiplier's ADHD brain is really showing there... i know it's a general approach for games like these, but ppl with ADHD can often struggle with noticing details, but are good at pattern memorizing. i cannot, to save my own life, study, but as a 10yo i remembered the EXACT position of all of my LPS toys, and there were like 200 of them. sometimes my father would switch 2 same-colored ones for fun, and then watch me enter the room and swap them back immediately.
After watching Gab and her playthroughs of this game, this experience with Mark is on a whole other level! (It's almost ascending in nature...) I am loving this series - please consider playing more of them, it's been a hoot to watch.
This was so fun to watch! I only started learning that sweeping technique Mark was talking about during this video too so it was very enjoyable when I could finally spot stuff haha XD
i think it'd be pretty interesting if mark tried to play this with an eye tracker. seeing his thoughts and seeing if he ends up looking directly at any of the smaller anomalies would be pretty cool!
Mark is right about lifeguards sweeping our eyes over the pool! I was trained through the ARC (American red cross) and they tell us to not stare and always keep our eyes moving. One of the ways we do it (in my experience) is to count the heads of the people in and around the water (the same way Mark would count the chairs, paper, water bottles, etc). Sometimes to keep myself engaged I'll count how many people wear blue or something to keep the especially long shits from wearing me down. I think Mark would make a great lifeguard actually. His physical strength would certainly be a benefit, and his observation skills would be a great asset on any team.
41:31 As a lifeguard, I can confidently tell you that I did do that. For the first month or so, now I'm too burnt out and I just daydream while looking at people. If something's happening, it will jump out at me. It might be a different thing at the beach where there's more danger.
@@rubiodarkyeti5927 I'm at the pool, so no worries. Also, it's either that or falling asleep. But for real, I do pay attention to people still, it's just a way of dealing with the unbearable boredom because nothing ever happens at the pool I work at.

This is definitely one of the biggest accomplishments Markiplier has ever achieved on TH-cam. Dude discovered he had a sixth sense and mastered it in under 50 minutes
Marks brain slowly melting trying to memorize the places is really entertaining.
mark: im not a masochist
also mark: plays a game he absolutely hates over and over again
i dont think he hates this game, though i do think he hates himself for getting constantly outplayed by the games shenanigans 😭
if you want a game he hates try Getting Over It
Oh
@@mnadhil1932 yeye I don't think the op meant it like actual hate, more like mark knows he'll suffer and get upset and still play it (cause he wants to know how much he can take, obvs not cause he's a masochist)
Do you know the meaning of insanity?
Mark noticing the books on the shelve missing while he couldn't even see what changed after the anomaly was fixed... just so impressive man! Holy shit!
As a life guard for many years Mark sort of gets the idea. You take eye scanning patterns but you also need to mix it up often as to not miss any section of the pool.
We rotated positions every 15 min around the pool. Helped a lot
@@theshuman100 Well unlike the scary maze the things here are very random so you didn't know when expected

When the gold bars changed I started yelling "THE VAULT! THE VAULT! GO BACK TO THE VAULT!" I was glad when he did go back and get that one!

The lifeguard thing is kinda true, we usually look for signs of life while scanning from corner to corner and occasionally doing a full bottom sweep to check for children or babies that are right below our feet. What I did was also keep in mind how often people came back up for air to make sure that nothin was off.
It scared me that I saw this comment just as Mark started talking about it at 41:36 :0
Lifeguarding sucked. That is all.
Grouping too!! Super helpful when I’m lifeguarding imo. Great job
(*Pfff* here we go again...) All the anomalies Mark missed during his video:
14:00 ---> Bed changed in the Bedroom (he got it later)
20:37 ---> The plant disappeared in the Hallway
23:36 ---> Stairs appeared on the upper-right side in the Hall
24:45 ---> The far shutters are closed in the Office
27:56 ---> The far shutters are closed in the Office (he got it later)
28:45 ---> Gold ingots rearranged in the Vault (he got it later)
31:00 ---> All the barriers changed position in the Hall (he got it later)
36:27 ---> The dude in the painting is different (he got it later)
42:12 ---> It was the trash bin at the bottom of the Office , he got so lucky XD
Wow, he did so well in this video !
He got lucky to not get the PEN disappearing in the Conference Room which is impossible to notice LUL
Good job, Mark !

Wasn't the trash can at 23:03 meant to be a plant pot? you can see it as a plant pot when he first starts the level (Ignore me! I see you've written it as 'plant disappeared')
@@nini2swagini Yes, but that happened at 20:37, so its already listed.
I was looking for this comment!
Finally, after over a year, Mark's Observation Duty video title is accurate.
I love Marks hourly “outside” affirmations.
Hey everyone, back for more of Mark's missed anomalies! Mark doesn't leave me much to do here, but here we go:
- Mark is doing great!
- 23:35 - some stairs have appeared on the right side upper floor
- 24:46 - the blinds in the back are drawn. Interestingly, this is the anomaly that created the warning, but many anomalies will not occur when you're watching that particular camera.
- The blinds that Mark pegged at 28:16 first appeared at 27:56.
- Mark's realization of the gold bars at 29:56 was an anomaly that happened at 28:45
- At 31:30, Mark catches the anomaly that happened at 31:00 when he had an instinctive feeling about the Hall. Trust your instincts, friends.
Ty for these!
gahd damn
You're incredible
There is a headlike object in the bottom right of the window in the game room at around 5 min and he passes it multiple times
Edit: apparently it wasnt an anomoly as he fixes 3 coffe cups at around 8:30 and it doesnt disapear
Sherlock Holmes?
34:40 anyone see the stairs get added live on camera in the middle in the background as soon ass markiplier looks to the far right? this was the later anomaly that mark saw as stairs

@@marshthecanadian9832 I think what they're talking about is in the upper-middle of the screen, right behind the wire mesh of the closest chandelier, just above the lightbulbs. You can see a kinda gray box turn into a striped box. You have to wait a second after the timestamp to see it
This game series has to be one of my favorites I've seen Mark play so far
These videos are actually helping me as a lifeguard, the fast moving scenes help me with my 10/20 scan, ten seconds to recognize the guest in distress and 20 seconds to get to them. I've been going slow on my 10, so trying to scan the room in the amount of time mark does it speeds me up a bit while still recognizing abnormalities, or in my field, GID's. (Guest In Distress)
Wow cool man
I love mark saying “I’m done with this game” every week
Maybe Mark will direct a movie where he scans for anomalies. One can dream

8:42 mild - 3 gong sounds.
11:38 mild - 4am gongs
12:05 MAJOR - cuts to leisure room and a freaky bright guy is hunched in the middle of the floor looking straight at the camera.

16:08 moderate - cuts to parlour where you hear piano keys being pressed. In the distance you see a man playing the piano in the distance. He slowly turns to the camera. 32:17 mild - 2am gong, followed by coffee machine humming again.
32:43 moderate - painting in the vault replaced with horrifying abstract SCP face art.

37:17 mild - same treatment on the painting in the directors office. Which he catches and zooms in on. The next shot also has a changed painting way off in the distance to an unsettling face.
38:29 moderate/major - first person in this level, sitting in the chair in the basement. After he clicks to report the anomaly, the guy dies in the chair with a gong sound. Nothing happens and the anomaly is reported successfully.
41:44 mild - there are more lights in the directors office and they're floating upside down from the floor.
44:13 moderate - zooms in on middle painting in directors office, where the man's eyes have been replaced by... Animated eyeballs?
46:22 moderate - in the hallway, there's a guy hanging upside down on the ceiling. Markiplier notices after a few seconds and he exclaims. The camera zoom's in on the creature when he does.
46:51 mild - trypophobia trigger. The screensaver on the PC in the basement has lots of organic holes on it.

Wont be able to watch Mark play indie horror anymore without thinking, "he should make a movie"
Otherwise I'm sure I'd never become aware of some possible changes...
then the whole purpose of the game would just vanish
i dont think it needs to spoon feed you what you've missed afterwards, especially if you've lost [although it's unneeded when you win]. maybe it counts how many anomalies you missed in which rooms at most? to hint at which rooms you need to focus on more, but them again this game is supposed to be difficult, no hints no nothing.
@@paigethedork9693 No, it needs the option. If you don't want to use it, select "Go to main menu" or "Play again" rather than "See what you missed." That way, rather than deciding to tell people who need or want the help to get fucked, everyone can have what they want.
