- New Band to me and this was a solid tune! nice singing from these Danish Rockers. Volbeat are a Danish rock band formed in Copenhagen in 2001. They play a fusion of rock and roll, heavy metal, and rockabilly. Their current line-up consists of vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen, guitarist Rob Caggiano, drummer Jon Larsen and bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen.

Johan Olsen has a PhD in biology and works as a researcher at Copenhagen University. He's also an author of children's books, and a radio and tv host.
He also looks like he’d be the first one off the boat with a huge smile on his face 😂 what a interesting man

That is NOT an arena it's a stadium with the room closed for the occasion. This is a Metallica, U2, Madonna, ACDC, Michael Jackson and The rolling stones size venue, not many Danish bands can fill this place and make a profit with us being just under 6 million people. That is a big reason why this show is special. And even though they've made a name for them selves outside Denmark, they still do these collaborations with Danish artists and like Johan singing in Danish. I'm not a diehard Volbeat fan, i dont even know any names except Michael the lead singer, but i appreciate the hell out of them, and I am proud of what they've achieved.

this concert was the end of their tour, the same live concert had Lars Ulrich from metallica (another Dane) join them to cover Enter Sandman. overall one of my favorite bands, certainly one of the best live acts i've ever seen. their entire catalog is filled with great music.
to get a different feel you could check out die to live ft neal fallon, or sad man's tongue is a fantastic song, especially live
as a dane, this is definitely their most known song. Johan Olsen is lead singer for Magtens Korridorer, a rock/punk band that i personally prefer to volbeat. he sings with more grit and distortion which i personally like.

I was introduced to this band in 2010 when in tech school training, one of my friends was from Denmark, and I asked for some music from his country to give a listen to. He recommended this band. And I’m so glad that he did.
What Johan is singing have now been a very important part for the danish men’s national handball team team and give a lot of hip ind the handball arenas 🇩🇰🇩🇰
Handball Arena? Really? Here in the USA, barely anyone even plays handball in there public parks let alone pay to watch it. That's cool.

@@GulsCult Well, our womens team is great, they were huge in the 90s and early 00s winning multiple World and European Cups and the 1996 and 2000 Olympics. And the mens team then took over and has won all of those too over the last almost 20 years now, including the 3 last World Cups!

Volbeat was well introduced. Johan Olsen is the lead singer of Magtens Korridorer (Corridors of Power). They started out in the mid 90s as a punk sort band and evolved more rock'ish. He's the guest singer here and the song became a massive hit. Besides being a great singer, Johan Olsen is also a well renowned bioligist and intermediator of science stuff with an ongoing weekly podcast on the Danish National broadcasting service.
The guy with the hat is Johan Olsen. He's singing the chorus in Danish.
It roughly translates to:

Dexter from offspring- did his Doctoral thesis for Molecular Biology in 2017 publishing a 175-page dissertation on the molecular dynamics of HIV and general virus/host interactions. Holland graduated from the University of Southern California. Apparently, from then on, he made his band mates call him Dr. Dexter. Lol, he put his PhD on hold when the Offspring began saying he could do that at anytime but he only had one chance to be a Rockstar.

I LOVE that, The Danish Elvis, very cool. I love his voice and he's so diverse especially when you hear something like The Burning Maid when he was with Dominus and then something like this. I personally like the earlier, maybe a little heavier Volbeat but it's all very good music

Since you are reacting to VolBeat who are awesome, you should look at just about anything from Poets of the Fall, they are a rock band from Finland, and Marko their lead singer sounds as good live as he does on a studio album. Fire and Dreaming Wide Awake are two live songs that probably showcase him well, or the M/V for "The Sweet Escape"

When Volbeat started out, they got a lot of help from Johan Olsens band (Magtens Korridorer), which is one reason why Johan is singing here, they have also been included as warm up when Volbeat do gigs in DK.
Volbeat is refreshing because of all their musical influences like Johnny Cash. They play multiple instruments which you don’t see much of these days. I love them and will be seeing them in August!

English is very similar to Danish since the germanic languages with more. actually made the English language. and even today there's word you use that came from the Danish language, such as window, egg, hus, scrike, fjeld. as an example. and even today a lot of words sounds the same.

I have always struggled with "Volbeat". It's the (in house) house wife "rock" band of Denmark. They are uninspiring and VERY streamline (boring). But I guess that's just me.
I'm kinda with ya, they have maybe 3 or 4 songs that I genuinely enjoy, the rest are kinda meh(For Evigt is one of the ones I enjoy, along with Garden's Tale).
The first three albums were really good though.

They started out as a thrash metal band, got a huge radio hit and became a pop sing a long band. The old stuff was so much better. They even did a cover of Sad Mans Tongue by Johnny Cash.
