I have a simple comment. I’m not sure what it is, but whenever I watch your videos, I find myself in a room by myself, with a smile on my face. I don’t usually smile while watching TH-cam videos, but somehow, you two always manage to make me smile. Thank you for sharing. 😊
At first, I thought "I really don't care what goes on behind the scenes for a boat show" then I quickly found myself glued to how incredible these specialists were. Really cool, actually.
How did Uma steal the show? Let me count the ways: 1. Limiting the parade of fancy yachts to background as they are penned in by custom docks. Who’d a thunk it! 2. Showing Uma, Gypsy Moth, and Pip’s Dream. Each a unique example of a solution to different challenges. 3. Not calling the Sir Francis fan on his Slocum faux pas. Classy. 4. Arranging for successive sunny sets and taking people for a cruise each evening. 5. Turning the saloon into a day care. 6. Reflecting on the show in your cabin. ALL IN 22 MINUTES Congratulations on a throughly professional, educational and enjoyable production.
Its been delightful to watch the two of you growing together as you put heart and soul back into a previously unloved entity. Even the inanimate wish to be loved. You treat each other with respect, truly listening to each other's ideas, and as another commented, you both have a sense of grace, a rare and undervalued quality. And your joy at seeing kids' joy was . . . well, simply joyous.
Thanks Bill that is very touching :) at this point Uma isn’t just an object to us our to our followers anymore. She definitely has her own unique personality and character. As you said she deserves to be loved. ❤️And we do love our little home and try our best to take care of her as she keeps us safe and dry 😄
"What's so great about [your] boat?" The two of YOU are what is so great about your boat! Uma is great, but the crew is greater. Your genuine manner and willingness to do the hard work to carve out the life you want is extraordinary. That's why I am captivated, and I'm sure many others feel likewise. As always, thanks so much for sharing. Steve
Lol those two young lads were a hoot during the opening and closing segments of this step. Awesome video you did a great job. Your fantastic story telling, editing and videography just keeps getting better and better. It is going to be a great new season of steps! Thanks & Cheers.
Welcoming, celebrating, and including the kids is flippin' awesome! So often these kinds of shows are places where kids are only tolerated. As a parent and a human, thank you for being so joyfully generous.
As one of your long time subscribers, I must say how very proud I am of your Boat Show success! You did UMA proud as well as your selves. Classy kids, very classy!
THREE bravos !!!. 1) for updating your nautical+mechanical+weather skills 2) for the way you handle the promotion your experience 3) being TOGETHER , so long time ( ...there is an old saying : "leave a group of people, inside a boat for a week, to check the TRUE attitudes and behaviors")
I so loved this piece and it reminded me how much we missed the Southampton Boat Show this year 2020. I am kicking myself as we were at the show in 2019 and somehow we missed you and Uma! Argh. I have even more respect (respect on top of respect) for Team Uma now you are in northern European waters. Somehow I find these sailing couple TH-cam experiences to be "fantasy in the sunshine". Not so here. Cross the Northern Atlantic... welcome to our home! Lovely real people. A blessing to our community.
Seeing Uma was a pleasant surprise. Also caught a glimpse of you two helping out Captain Bryan with the Q&A portion of his presentation. Nice seeing the backstory. If in need of any assistance be happy to help.
This is one of the best youtube cannels ever! The editing of this ep and the knowledge, emphaty, -the "feelgood" i get watching 22 min and 12 sec ep... i just want to thank you for giving me a pause in a world where so much is difficult...and give a big hug to you and your community! Thank you! :)
Uma is looking goooooooooddddddd!!!!! You guys really have come a long way with upgrading the interior and exterior of the boat since you got her. You definitely have a lot of sweat equity in Uma and if you ever do decide to sell her and upgrade the next owner will be getting an amazing boat! Also loved the interview that you guys did and the video of all the work you put into Uma playing in the background. Keep the great vlogs coming!
You two Rock, and so deserve to be in the show. You inspire people with hopes and dreams, and plant a seed, that anything is possible with the right attitude and hard work. Well done, and safe travels.
I like watching y'alls videos, but I think I like this one the best so far. Thank y'all for being a greatly entertaining, fun to watch, and I do learn something every episode. Y'all should be sponsored and have your own main stream time slot. Y'all are examples of what is right with this world ....!!!!!
I was trying to think what I could say about this video but i feel R1CA3do just about covered it all, other than to say I was left with a warm feeling inside after watching. Truly great job Dan and Kika!!!!!!
I think the secret is one, to get over the grown up nonsense we have rammed into us and two, if you're young, to see through the nonsense and take off on an adventure. Most people I know of who have done this are happy, successful and all around good humans. I did the grown up thing and frankly, it wasn't fun and pretty much a waste of 45 years. I got over it, phew! 😎
Great to see that the Southhampton Boat Show is taking an interest in stories like yours. It makes the dream so much more achievable. And yep, Trade Shows are an industry in themselves.
People wanted to see the 36 foot sailboat that was made in 1974. The one that just made the Atlantic crossing. Those multi million dollar new boats can easly make the crossing. But doing it in a 36 ft 1974 boat is very impressive.
Gotta love the trail(course) you two are blazing. It's clear that the young and not so young at the boat show looked past the glitz of new $500,000 boats and loved what you two have made with your almost 50 year old gem, cheers!
Loved the content of how much effort actually goes into the show, and how people gathered round Uma. So much point of viewing in this video. The kids were also great at the end. Thanks for making.
Yup! it Was definitely Brian! (I saw some shots on Instagram) And Nick and Tyresa from Rubyrose were there as well! Hope you guys had some time to practice Beer Drinking Delos style since last time you met!
I found your channel about a year ago, binge watched until I caught up, and have been following along since. I don't believe I have left a comment before, but this episode was really good. I didn't think I would be interested in the "boat show behind the scenes", but it was fascinating. Then it just kept me interested with the 2 boat tours, and your videography and storytelling has evolved so much over the years. Great job, you guys keep me motivated toward my goal to get rid of my couch in about 1 1/2 years.
11:55 Props to Sir Francis Chichester for the first solo circumnavigating along the clipper route, that must have been one hell of a ride. However the first solo circumnavigation, ever, was accomplished by an old Bluenose, Joshua Slocum, one half century earlier aboard S.V Spray.
What a really happy video. Meeting up with some of your Patrons/followers must have been great. Not to mention the little, up and coming child sailors!! A joy to watch.
Great to meet you both and glad the weather was good for you .This edit reminds me how far you have come, from just the wreck of a boat you have grafted to make a fantastic home and shared such an amazing journey with us.keep it up
Kika is certainly the brightest twinkling star in the sailing universe! And Dan has picked up a lot of her sparkle over the time of their travels together. Great job guys! I once found myself on the guest dock during a in-the-water sailboat show in Seattle. Occasionally someone would come aboard thinking my boat was part of the show, attracted to the classic lines of the Cape George 36 that I had built. One such visitor came down the companionway while I was reading a book. She opened a galley locker and said with amazement, "You live on this little boat?" Without cracking a smile I replied: "Lady, people who live on land are weird." She made a mad dash for the companionway----.
That was awesome to see Gypsy Moth IV. I grew up following Sir Francis Chichester voyage. The boat had been on display in a special dry dock for 40 years and almost rotted away , so glad they saved it! Sir Francis Chichester was 65 when he did the circumnavigation. He had previously done many solo flying adventurers and pioneered solo navigation methods before any electronic. That was a fabulous boat show film , loved the log cabin style cabin shed being stick built on site! Crazy to see all the one off construction around the boats using probably american lumber. Thanks for sharing your trip and story. Cheers Warren
Fantastic Video, showing the part you DON'T see was a great idea. Congrats on being the "Boat of the Show or whatever it was called- :). You two look so Happy Together !!!
My fathers 91 and I've shown some of your video's to him. He grew up sailing and I learned through osmosis. He's enjoyed seeing the refit that you both have done on the boat. Make it a great day!
Cool stuff, i love the way you experience that you and your boat is famous. One of many reasons I follow Uma is that you are always humble and considerate. Keep it up .. and I hope to board Uma one day.
Wow, what an amazing episode! You two have created a beautiful thing from love and a rotting boat and now look at the fruits of your labor seen in this week. I relish the thought that the supposed ugly duckling seems to have been the center of one of the most beautiful happenings on the docks. That's something money can't buy and it comes thru strong. The kids doing art on the wall was like the icing on the cake of the love and interest surrounding Uma. So sweet. Congrats on your success and thanks for a wonderful episode. Much love
I binge watched from episode 1 straight through over the past few weeks. You develop a virtual relationship with you and to be honest, I was sad to have caught up. I’m just so impressed with both of you on many levels. You bring warmth and a spirit for life to my heart. One of my favorite moments was the episode with Captain Brian joining you in FL for a night of fun and the sail north. I binged through Delos earlier this year. To see my TH-cam heroes connecting is great fun and I did take notice of Brian pulling in the lines in todays video. I’ll continue to look forward to every video and follow along as you live your dreams. Much love to you guys and thanks so much for sharing! Cheers!
5 July 2020 - Howdy from Atlanta - I've been binge watching you for just over a week.... I'm hooked. Your Atlantic Crossing was wonderful. You're both so genuine, hospitable, gracious, and loving. Here here to developing that virtual relationship with the both of you... You're a perfect match and I pray for your safety that you'll always be able to be together in this world inspiring us on to the adventures that the true in heart yearn for...
Another great video! I loved the daily vlog (reminded me of my binge weekend)! I still look forward to each new step. It doesn't seem to matter the topic, you always do a very good job. Never predictable, never weak. Uma has good juju. Thank you.
After following you guys for some time this is the first time I make a comment. I,m almost 60 years old, me (Rosendo Ayón) and my wife (Edith Ayón) live in San Diego California for the last 30 years and our dream is to buy a sail boat in the nearest future. Keep doing what you are doing and DO NOT stop. This is one of my favorite episode. The best of luck for all three of you,
Great video, just like to say I really enjoyed the 3D video you did on your ocean crossing. I could scroll round and look at the rig, the lines, the set ups etc. You two are an inspiration for young sailors. Keep the videos coming and come up to Scotland, you'd love cruising around the west coast. Cheers Davie
What a fun episode!! My GF and I have done some done some events and yes, the set up and tear down are SO much work, attendees have no idea!! Really looking forward to the Vendee Globe this fall !!!
Sailing Uma channel is a great vehicle for those of us that are sail-challenged! The Boat Show was no different, very entertaining and fun to watch. I'm looking forward to "us" setting sail for our next adventure soon (feeling like a deckhand or something!).
That was absolutely fantastic. That must have been so cool to share your love of sailing to so many different people. These vids keep blowing me away for the opportunities sailing has provided you.
Kika and Dan.... you guys are so knolagable, talented, artistic, experienced, loving, etc..ect... examples of the cursing our sailing world.. I wish I where near to meet and great you as well. thanks for your artistic views on your work on UMA.... and the way you communicate with your contacts... you're both a sailors accet to have you in our fore-front.... Great work and Fair Seas to UMA forever!! Capt'n Rick... Caribbean Sailor, now retired, Mississippi, USA.... Love you guys!
So much fun so glad you were at the boat show and showing ho it was made too. I think that is why so many people liked seeing you and knowing who you are too. People need to know what life is like sailing no matter if a fixed up older boat to a brand new one. That is what the boat shows should be about also fun too.
Wow! Such a generous act of sharing not only your amazing story / journey but your yacht as well. Not sure I could've handled having so many kids crawl and poke around our SY Miss Foxy that way. Well done! Cheers, from Singapore.
Great video folks, as usual! Especially love the Baby Shark skit at the end given the Nat's won the world series last night and somehow that became their theme song! Perfect timing!
That was fun. I had a smile on my face the whole time. I was wondering if you were going to fly back to the US for Annapolis but this was even better. So happy for you guys. Well done on the edit. Cheers!
I spent some time stood looking at Uma before seeking permission to come aboard. I honestly didn't think Uma looked out of place among all the new boats and if she did it was only because she looked beautiful inside and out. I spent some time admiring the galley area that you both worked so hard to build and compared to most of the boats that looked like you were in an Ikea brochures (not a fan) Uma was streets ahead in fit, finish and design. I thought most of the modern? interiors on show were hideous and Uma was a refreshing respite, if only for a few minutes. As a bonus, I even appear fleetingly in this episode onboard Uma (fame at last).😁
Ohhh, thank you for the sweet moon shot at 11.10! [ like that whole set from drone to moon to Uma reflection to crowd ] Great footage of the Boat show. You took me there in true Uma style!
I love you two! Wonderful video! I'm so happy you had a successful crossing of the Atlantic and made it to the boat show. Your videos continue to improve and I'm always eager to watch the next one! Thanks folks!
Shows you that sailing is not all about gimmicks or pricey add-ons but about connecting with the shores you touch, or scrape, or inadvently drag your way onto.
Why we love you two so....your live, your interactive, your friendly, your approachable and your kid approved. Thank you for another glimpse into the life of UMA! You two are sailing legends. 🤗
OMG this boat show was the best I have ever seen. This kids in the beginning & end of the video were the most lovely kids ever. And the baby shark song blow my heart out.
This would have to be one of the best vlogs i have seen on the boat show you two just Rock if there was any boat Manufacture that need someone to sail a new build it would be you two very down to earth guys. well done :).
Sir Francis Chitchester was my all time hero and someone I always wanted to emulate.. sail around the world solo. He was a really amazing guy. He also flew around the world solo in a float plane. I am so jealous that you got to look in his boat. ..
Just discovered you guys today. Thoroughly enjoyed the films I watched. As a Brit and a sailor. so pleased you enjoyed Southampton. You are naturals with a really unpretentious style that is very watchable. At the same time my husband and are both e joking all the technical detail you include. A wonderful mix of entertainment and intelligent technical know-how. We look forward to more! 👍🏼
How lucky people are to get to hangout with you two amazing people. One day I’d love to meet you both. You are truly inspiring. Hello from Ontario Canada.
Congratulations! You were the great attraction. I love the kids. Now I had the idea to put a blackboard in my house for our grandchildren and friends kids. Cheers!
.... stellar production ..... like the vid running behind you when you were on stage .... so did your neighbors from across the way come and check you out .... what an action packed 10 days, can easily believe you were grateful for the sunset sails .... awesome job, well done .... have fun be safe, save our oceans .....
You guys are absolute legends Keep up the beautiful work you do, I look forward to every episode. Thanks for sharing your incredible journey with us all.
In the late 60's I was on a school trip to Greenwich, London and Sir Francis Chichester himself invited a small group of us on board the Gypsy Moth as we were walking by the dry dock.
We've watched the Annapolis boat show come together. It was very different because used floating docks off the town dock. Boats come in as their dock is installed and it's built out. So that's the same.
I have a simple comment. I’m not sure what it is, but whenever I watch your videos, I find myself in a room by myself, with a smile on my face. I don’t usually smile while watching TH-cam videos, but somehow, you two always manage to make me smile. Thank you for sharing. 😊
No matter what you do in life, bring out the best in everyone, the smile is just sprinkles
At first, I thought "I really don't care what goes on behind the scenes for a boat show" then I quickly found myself glued to how incredible these specialists were. Really cool, actually.
How did Uma steal the show?
Let me count the ways:
ALL IN 22 MINUTES
Congratulations on a throughly professional, educational and enjoyable production.
You forgot to meniton "Coastal Cruising around the world" a few days after completing a North Atlantic crossing :-)!
Steve
The "Uma loves the children bit" at the end brought tears of Uma Joy! Thanks So much for being simple and REAL, Dan and Kika!
You have been given the gift of genuine hospitality and you use the gift very graciously. Tim
😊Thanks Tim! that is a very heart warming compliment :)
Loved the kids! As a father of 4, I can tell you how much parents appreciate their kids being included and appreciated.
Kika + Dan + UMA = something new and rare. There is nothing 50 years old about this trio. That is why people find such interest in you.
That kid was hilarious! And Uma is a floating work of art. It's no wonder that she was the star of the show!
As one of your long time subscribers, I must say how very proud I am of your Boat Show success! You did UMA proud as well as your selves. Classy kids, very classy!
You know, you guys deserve the fame. Enjoy it! And of all the sailing channels on TH-cam, you are definitely my favorite.
THREE bravos !!!.
1) for updating your nautical+mechanical+weather skills
2) for the way you handle the promotion your experience
3) being TOGETHER , so long time ( ...there is an old saying : "leave a group of people, inside a boat for a week, to check the TRUE attitudes and behaviors")

You guys made a great contribution to the show. I bet the Brits were surprised to see a boat that had sailed back from the colonies. Most rare!
I bet it didn't even cross a single Brit's mind out there :)
The best Uma’s “piece of equipament” is 2 people that refused to buy a couch.
I was trying to think what I could say about this video but i feel R1CA3do just about covered it all, other than to say I was left with a warm feeling inside after watching. Truly great job Dan and Kika!!!!!!
I am almost twice your age. But I swear, when I grow up I want to be just like you guys!
Brilliant ... Well said !!

Was that a shot of Captain Bri-yawn from Delos in the one shot at 19:52? If not, he looks like a sure doppelgänger.
good eye, but i don't think so.
Yup! it Was definitely Brian! (I saw some shots on Instagram) And Nick and Tyresa from Rubyrose were there as well! Hope you guys had some time to practice Beer Drinking Delos style since last time you met!
The Delos had a Presentation at the Show on Saturday 21th 2019
Capn Briawn's been on UMA before.
Very, very good eye, Sir. I totally missed that.

Absolutely the best video yet.
Uma maybe 50 years old but today she is the queen of the boat show.
you guys are the best Cheers
You guys make me so happy watching your adventures! Thank you for letting us be a part of your life! Be safe.
Your videos and editing is really super. I know because I never feel a need to skip ahead!
What a really happy video. Meeting up with some of your Patrons/followers must have been great. Not to mention the little, up and coming child sailors!! A joy to watch.
One of the best episodes, like, ever. :)
Thanks Dan!! It was a really fun 10 Days.
Like totally 🤙💙
Wonderful !
The transition from nobody around for days or weeks to 600 people in a week must have been a shock.
Great to meet you both and glad the weather was good for you .This edit reminds me how far you have come, from just the wreck of a boat you have grafted to make a fantastic home and shared such an amazing journey with us.keep it up

Chichester the first person to sail singlehanded around the world??? Obviously the guy never heard of Joshua Slocum and the Spray out of Boston.
Fantastic Video, showing the part you DON'T see was a great idea. Congrats on being the "Boat of the Show or whatever it was called- :). You two look so Happy Together !!!

Much love
It was a pleaure to be your neighbors during the show on the Contest 42CS!!
Hope to see you at the shipyard sometime!

Thom
Hi Thom!! We’re still looking forward to a factory tour next fall.
you guys have worked extremely hard to get you place in that show! You deserve all you received!
I binge watched from episode 1 straight through over the past few weeks. You develop a virtual relationship with you and to be honest, I was sad to have caught up. Noticed that Brian was on also.
Those two kids are GREAT!! What an incredible experience, reinforcing more than you imagined the interest and support of your Uma Nation. Well done!!
Another great video! I loved the daily vlog (reminded me of my binge weekend)!
I still look forward to each new step. It doesn't seem to matter the topic, you always do a very good job. Never predictable, never weak. Uma has good juju. Thank you.
That was so much fun to watch! Perfect ending- the kids had me rolling with laughter.Blessings to the good vessel Uma and all who sail with her!
After following you guys for some time this is the first time I make a comment. I,m almost 60 years old, me (Rosendo Ayón) and my wife (Edith Ayón) live in San Diego California for the last 30 years and our dream is to buy a sail boat in the nearest future. The quality of your videos blows me away.
HA! One of the most awesome episodes yet! Completely enjoyed that and especially the kidlets enjoying they're visits! Awesome!
Love you guys! Having watched from the beginning, I love how you guys have evolved over time with your style. Keep on sailing Uma!
Great video of your last week of the Atlantic Crossing. Congratulations to you both from a fellow resident of Canada.
I only just watched all the video series in one go. Really enjoyed it. God bless this couple very brave .:)
I just love everything about y'all and UMA! Brings joy to my life to watch every week! From the vids, UMA looks very sleek and homey interior wise.
One of your very best! What a terrific thing to do taking your patrons out on sunset sails and clearly the kids had a blast.
Cheers!
I saw your Boat at the show and it really made my day, looks like a awesome boat too, you can see all the time and effort youve put in to her.
Love your hair when you set it free. 😁
Loved your addition of the next generation of very young video personalities! Was the Uma Flag ever offered as merch? Or an Uma tapestry?
Love the camera mugging at the end! Uma Nation rocks!
What a wonderful time to show off 6 years of hard work!
Perhaps the most epic outro ever! Viva Umanation!!
Wow, guys, it felt as we were cruising across the Atlantic with UMA and you guys, thank you so much for such an adventure...
Shows you that sailing is not all about gimmicks or pricey add-ons but about connecting with the shores you touch, or scrape, or inadvently drag your way onto.
How awesome is it that you were the most authentic sailors at the show!!
Uma was the diamond in the rough at the show because of you 2 gems!! Great video, really enjoyed seeing all the different boats. Thanks for sharing
Why we love you two so....your live, your interactive, your friendly, your approachable and your kid approved. Thank you for another glimpse into the life of UMA! You two are sailing legends. 🤗
That is really sweet of you to say ☺️cheers !
hahahaha - those kids were hilarious.
always nice to see people want to see and interact with a boat in its crew. It's all about doing not having...
OMG this boat show was the best I have ever seen. This kids in the beginning & end of the video were the most lovely kids ever. And the baby shark song blow my heart out.
Mika love your hair in the stage interview!!!!! Great job both of you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This would have to be one of the best vlogs i have seen on the boat show you two just Rock if there was any boat Manufacture that need someone to sail a new build it would be you two very down to earth guys. well done :).
was that Brian from Delos at 19:55 ?
Does look like him....
I think too
Sir Francis Chitchester was my all time hero and someone I always wanted to emulate.. sail around the world solo. He was a really amazing guy. He also flew around the world solo in a float plane. I am so jealous that you got to look in his boat. ..
You folks are awesome and your videos lift up my mood sooo much! I smile as I write this. Thank you for all your amazing videos 😍
Oh fantastic, I wish I'd been able to come and see you guys. I was born in hythe and sailed those waters many many times !
Where are you now ?
This has to be one of the GOAT episodes!!! Nice to see Brian from SV Delos on board. I wonder how Kazza and the baby are doing?
Just discovered you guys today. Thoroughly enjoyed the films I watched. As a Brit and a sailor. so pleased you enjoyed Southampton. You are naturals
with a really unpretentious style that is very watchable.
Cheers!
Loved the memory boxes fro the countries and the sweet kids! Happy to have been with you on this journey ❤️❤️❤️🇱🇷
.... stellar production ..... like the vid running behind you when you were on stage .... so did your neighbors from across the way come and check you out .... what an action packed 10 days, can easily believe you were grateful for the sunset sails .... awesome job, well done .... have fun be safe, save our oceans .....
