Looks like someone’s elderly family members passed because there’s a ton of antiques in that home. Seems like they had a large family back when and now the kids don’t want the memories or the home, so sad because someone worked very hard to have a home for their family and to leave to them but the family doesn’t want it anymore.
I do not want any of the things in the house but alot of that stuff is worth a lot of money. You need to have an antique appraiser to value that stuff before you give it away. Especially, some if the glassware and dishes and records.
You are right some if this stuff is worth a lot of money. I do so hope it can be gone thru and be saved or sold.

Can’t wait to see what you do with this place. When I bought my four apartment building two of the apartments left things behind and it took 3 large dumpsters to haul everything away. i cant wait till the end. Do an Estate sale. You dont have to pack or ship or move items. There are many people who would love the glassware and what nots abd pictures (etc)
. You advertise it enough to let it hit the main edition of local paper usually 10 to 14 days in advance. There are also things called make your offer sales.
I could see potential for bringing it into current style. The main floor needs to go to 2 bedrooms and 2 updated larger full baths. You could probably squeeze in a small office when you combine the 2 smaller bedrooms. Of course part of that room would also go to a spacious master bath. Then since You have the possibility of income downstairs. Something needs to become a legal bedroom with closet and window. That huge closet would be a great bath + closet and laundry niche.

The house is definitely a nice fixer upper and has tremendous potential. It'll look amazing when you're finished since I've seen so many of your renovations. Can't wait to see the place when you're finished with the upgrade.
As far as all the things left behind, it would be a thrift stores treasure trove. Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul, Goodwill Industries, and others would probably give you an estimate for everything, if you donated, so you could use it as a tax write off.
I agree with you on reselling the glassware on eBay, because it's more trouble than it's worth. Shipping is high, and you'd have to bubble wrap everything to prevent breakage. Big headache.

Mannnn!!!! I would have a rummage sale for a weekend, and then hire a cleaning crew.
The house once it's completely remodel would be a nice house. I would add an extra bath to the basement. When I see a home like this I feel a little sad. When my grandmother died we weren't able to keep the house so things were left behind. I just always think items left behind meant something to some of these people too.
Why didn't you take them instead of leaving them for someone else to clean up?

Have you considered taking some of the items to an auction house? Another TH-camr Curiosity Incorporated uses an auction house that sells and ships the items.

I would have hired an appraiser. It’s looks likes a lot of valuable “stuff” in there. You may be able to recoup the 100k you spent !😃

The picture “Grace” (the guy praying over the bread) is from Enstrom Studio in Bovey, MN. They went out of business several years ago. Random fact: My senior pictures were also from their studio.

We would have did that if we didn't make a deal with the demo guy. Hopefully he made some good money from selling it all.

Hi, have you ever heard of Goodwill? I think these people who lived in this house 🏠 were in the garage sale business. They would buy stuff and resell it. Maybe covid hit their business hard and they loss their house.

Really as long as it doesn't say, Made in China it's most likely worth money.
A master bath, without a tub or shower, doesn't really make it a true master bath, I think.
Personally, I was forced to be a minimalist at one time, because I went to residential school and we weren't allowed to have a lot of stuff, but now because of that I'm a bit of a hoarder and it's hard for me to get rid of things sometimes, hopefully that doesn't happen with your daughter.
Seems at one point they might have owned or been a second hand store.
