I do not think it’s hard work. People who did not win the genetic lottery have to do the same things: watch their weight, exercise, and walk (although models do the walking part differently)
Gigi whatever, damn🤣🤣. But yeah, they got where they are really easy and coming from privileged family, they don't have to face the struggles of an average model
Not everyone have to struggle. Unfortunately everyone struggles in a different way and what you consider struggling might not be considered by someone else. There are millions of people who live in countries with extreme poverty and war that would die to be on her place. It’s not Gigi or Kendall’s fault that other people struggle the most, it’s just life.
Wonderful, articulate, informative speech, thank you. All aspiring models should watch this. I am so glad you listened to your Mum’s wise words. As you said, risky business. I hope you get paid for those jobs you haven’t been paid for.
the same with the music industry..Or even the entire Entertainment industry. this young lady just scratched the surface of what happens behind the scenes...
This was such a good talk! Thank you Leomie! I'm so happy more models are speaking out on what it is actually like to start this job from a young age and all the struggles that go behind the fancy life people think we are living.
I used to LIVE for Leomie haha, I was 12 years old when i first watched Model Agency on Channel 4. I used to refresh Premier Model’s ‘fresh faces’ page and memorise the new models. Too bad I never had the genes LOL, but it’s so good to see everything she’s done since, especially LAPP the brand, and her campaign in Fenty
Can I just say that this video is 10x better than the Cameron model that did a ted talk. She’s more composed, less nervous and makes better points. Meanwhile, Cameron has something like 10 million views.
Finally !! Thank you for saying it loud. I'm also a model. I've been in Paris, Milan several times, China, now in Beijing (spending here my last week after 3 months). Modeling is not as easy and glamorous as people may think. Lot of times, you travel, you work hard and come back with nothing. Actually I would say that we are not rich bitches. But poor bitches 😂.
I’m a model myself and I wanna say what she’s saying is very much true, but it also depends on your management/agency first time I was in NYC alone I lived in a magnificent apartment with 3 other girls it’s very different some ppl have good modeling experience other bad remember if you want something go get it work for it
Thank you for sharing @LeomieAnderson your back story, it's very valuable and helped my 14 year old decide today not to go forward with UK Models at this time.
Everyone always says to me that I should become a model etc even in my workplace I’ve gotten so many compliments. I’ve applied to all modelling agencies and I always get turned down so idk lol
this is a better interview than Cameron Russell . she was so conceited an like I'm proud I won the genetic lottery I'm white an beautiful . lol this is a better talk .....
I respect your opinion but I totally disagree. In my point of vue Cameron’s point was “yes according to society I have won the genetic lottery (which let’s be honest it’s a fact, this beautiful girl in this particular video may not have said it but she obviously won it too) and yet sometimes I’m still not happy.
She wasn’t proud. She was acknowledged the honesty that people don’t say. There’s a social cultural biases that makes a very minority of genetic idealized. And she did win the genetic lottery of preferences. It important what she talked about. Being pretty isn’t enough. That to strive to be this specific genetics combination shouldn’t be considered the goal/ what we should strive for.
im so over hearing about 'models' as if they are some other wordly magical species. They are just people who sell products for living. Literally just manequin salespeople. (i modelled for 10 years so i know) its nothing special, and its nothing to aspire to.
A "behind the lense" is not a tutorial. That's not what she was there to discuss and honestly if she had done that, this video would have been WAAAYYY longer than what it was. I suggest doing personal research online. As an as aspiring model myself, I will tell you, Google is your friend. Also, there are a couple of TH-camrs that make videos on topics like that so you can check them out as well
I have a twin and we are both identical and 6ft tall and I have been told ALL MY LIFE to be a MODEL. And my mom is always scared about it... She dosent want the agency's to week me but I really feel like I'm suppose to go out and do this! I just need my twin to be on the same page, which is hard... She and I know the dangerous of it all.
you should go out and do it! If your sister doesn’t want to do it with you, I think that’s fine. Everyone has different interests and callings. Maybe start once you’re 18
2017 Thank you very self-explanatory in minutes, great inside how the business industry works when it comes to the youth, it helps young ladies view and make a choice if they want to pursue a career in modeling, Thank You
I got scouted on the street in Tokyo when I was in college, but I’m introverted AF, so when I was offered a commercial I made an excuse not to go. But sometimes I wonder what would have happened.

They're not allowed to even date! I love them, so I feel bad for them
That’s why you have to make sure you’re hired by a good modeling agency research them but, I’m not looking to become a runway model if I do it’s all good that will be amazing but I’m just looking to become a commercial print model or lifestyle model or catalog.

Hard work?
@@ozonozon2905 yup easy typing from your computer when you probably couldn't even keep up with the weight demands ALL models face

Love how you get straight to the point. ‘It’s not as glamorous as it seems.’

theres nothing aspiring about modelling. it takes almost 0 talent and knowledge about ANYTHING to be good at it. all genetics.
She is so pretty oh my god
Is that the only thing you care about?
Ozon Ozon - I’m not sure that you know how a compliment works
"....Turn the roaches into riches..."
I love that original quote from Leomie! She has a most resilient spirit!
The way she talk, the way she act on stage is so animated and adorable
They are treated like cattle.....agency sound like pimps....surely any thinking person would run from this....
the same with the music industry..Or even the entire Entertainment industry. this young lady just scratched the surface of what happens behind the scenes...
Oh yeah the children in North Korea have it much better
More and more models standing up against this industry! Finally!
Good thing 2
Beautiful talk Leomie. Thank you for being so honest and sharing your journey with us
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Down to earth, honest, intelligent and utterly charming. ❤️
Creep
she was just made a victoria secret's angel. So proud!
Her personality is amazing.

And now she’s an Victoria’s Secret Angel 💕😇❤️
I'm so proud of you Leomie!!
THANK TO HER MUM honestly.
How do you know a the TED speaker is a teenager?
GIFs as a visual aid. Multiple GIFs lol, bless her. She must have been so nervous, great job.
She’s a Victoria’s Secret model, I don’t think she would have been that nervous
That’s a millennial thing. lm 30 and I do the same.
Lol that's unnecessarily condescending but ok
MsNerdyChica u don’t look a day over 23
pretty sure she was in her 20's when this was done
she's so beautifully spoken. love this
She’s not
It also depends on the agency and what you are modeling for.
This one was clearly dodgy
this is iconic. love the memes. love her.
She needs to be the number one angel 👼 or at least an angel in general
Princess CheerBear She did walk the VS fashion show last week. She deserves it!
She's beautiful!
She is an VS Angel now!

Great job Leomie!!! So proud of your success and I love your TH-cam vids!
Love this! New knowledge to me and that's always important. Already knew her from a modelling program, she's still great :)
Who tf edited this video?
she did...a teenager!
The constant misuse of the slides detracted from the speech. Also, the modelling industry sounds like a huge huge scam.
Not all of them are like this
Wow I didn’t know they would make you “pay back” what they’d offer ... good call from Leomie and her mom 😏
Love this sooooooo much!!! Leomie is the best
The truth! Leomie is a Jewel

She felt ashamed about it, quite the opposite of bragging all about it.
She's stunning
All those details she keeps telling make me think this is borderline human trafficking attitude that modeling agencies have
