Most humans naturally pick up social cues. The silence is uncomfortable because we can tell that Maisie expects that her audience will find what she's saying funny. You have to take the first step, not wait for it to drop in your lap. Having that break is only the start, talent is what has kept her there. It's also easy to bang on about it when you're bitter about not getting a break.

Good one except they had already finished shooting the show when she gave the talk.
lmao
Maybe the audience was too focused listening to her? Maisie's speech was perfect and inspiring. 💟
"A man attains greatness by his merits, not simply by occupying an exalted seat. Can we call a crow an eagle simply because he sits on the top of a tall building?" - Chanakya Pandita
Her character in GOT is my favorite out of them all.
Another one.
Lol
Sorry it was the last talk of the day, think everyone was a bit overwhelmed at that point. Great talk tho!
I pictured Jon Snow saying this line or am I mistaken for another character. Funny..

15:43 ''Trust that you are good enough'', well thats gonna be hanging above my desk from now on :D
Yeah, I need to do that more.
And Arya Stark takes the Iron Throne! Of all the big names on that show, it was one of the youngest and brightest cast members without any previous credits to her name to get up onstage for this kind of talk. She's a breath of fresh air for any of us creative types who struggle to find our way and often lose sight of how it's not the destination that matters as much as the journey to get there. I can't wait to see how her career as a creative human being unfolds. Valar dohaeris!
Awesome talk. I'm always super impressed by people who can do public speaking this well. audience sucked
Somebody said in the comment section
"I was there. She kept hesitating and forgetting her lines. It was awkward to listen to. The pauses / mistakes have been edited out."
I can't believe that it was whooping 16 minutes talk. Man!! Her speech was totally captivating.
Maisie: So when are you guys gonna respond to anything i say!??
Audience : "Not Today!!"
if its wasn't today so when will it be? if she didn't take steps, after 10 years where she should be?
more like..
Maisie: So when are you guys gonna respond to anything i say!??
Audience :
They muted the audience's sound because they were loud
😂
😂 this is underrated
What's wrong with the crowd? No cheering, no applause, like come on..
GaLeToOoOo had the same feeling!
They are British....
pretty sure they muted the crowd
They ( we ) are British... They were just probably being politie and listening to Maisie do her Ted talk....
British people are unenthusiastic
Wow I first loved you as Arya, and loving you more now for who you truly are. I am blessed by your story Maisie. Glory to God! God bless you and your family more.
"I have never had an end goal and its working out so far" I hope I can say this, convincingly, to my interviewer someday
She's so young, but already so engaging and capable. You go, girl!
I love people who see a problem (the industry has a power issue that leads to abuse) and instead of just complaining about it, they stand up and say, HEY, that's not ok! Then do something to change it.

Massie is so right - have a dream and go for it, rise above unfortunate circumstances. Strive to be talented at what you do, not famous for what you do.
if your talented, you're not easily manipulated and abused by other people because your talents are your stepping stones to have a better life.
“Actors are only as good as
their writers” she throwin shade at d&d for ruining got lol
Most actors did and rightfully so, alot of people blamed writers but I remember a few going after actors as well not realizing it's the writings fault. I would be pissed if I was an actor on that show
I just noticed that, lol
Haha!
@Thomas Clox I guess that's why they sign contracts that require them to do a minimum amount of episodes/seasons. Probably also why the best actors and actresses typically end up in the best films and shows.
Oh wait...
@Thomas Clox question what are you doing in your life she is a actress not moron
I saw this live and it taught me that all you need is an idea.
And a big pot of money from your Emmy-nominated acting career.
And a friend with a big pot of money from years of successful business ventures.
With just those three things, you too can set up a company, get offices in Shoreditch, employ some staff and release an app.
This is what I gathered from it too.
This made me admire her even more. She gives great advice, and is so down to earth. We need more famous people like her.
good speech by this girl. She´s so right in many things she has said. The last-minute is by far the best part of the whole video, because that message related to "trust you are good enough" is really key to keep on working every day, to have something that encourages you to be better. Thanks Maisie.
Are the audience like 10 miles away or somethin
lol
After ever sentence she’s like :👁👄👁 lmfao her breathing I feel bad for her the audience did not pass the vibe
They muted the audience's sound because they were so loud
@@arunb4902 if that’s true then why is she constantly looking for validation from the audience? It was the same with Catherine Reitman’s talk it seemed like the audience wasn’t vibing with her?
Maisie has been my favourite actress since I first watched the series and Arya's my favourite character in GoT, and this Ted Talk only made me love her even more.
Such an inspiration!
Yes, same here!😍😍😍
Maisie is a girl to watch, excellent actress and visionary! So proud of her:)
Who is Massie?
Who cares about the audience? If they were there or not? Massie you are power!!! Keep on going girl!!!
Do not strive for money. Strive for service and experiences. You will never have to worry about money.
Well said

(thanks for not considering Russia as a capitalist country, but we still depend on money quite a lot, unfortunately)

Melissa Neal I died 😆😆
nsbsjBSJSHWJW LMAOO I HAVE THE DVD OF THE FIRST MOVIE SKSKS
Simply remembering all of those lines is impressive.
She did so good. She just kept on doing and didnt lose her track so. The audience is a tough one but she probably knew that people will see this online so at least her fans will be able to enjoy it
I didn't plan on watching this long, but her story was somewhat captivating. Well done Maisie!
She is really fantastic lady and her speech is amazing. God bless you dear.
She did such a good job. This crowd were dead though!
I think that they didn't understood her jokes cuz she is british😕 but i don't know maybe sitting there too long drained their sense of humour. Either way it is qood enough if they understood her message👍.
Towards the end of the speech, I have goosebumps and teary eyes with an inspired heart.
The only joke the audience laughed about was the relatable one, divorce 😂🤣
so sad though...
And her growing from a 4 foot child to a 5 foot woman
@northern_lights ok boomer
@@googhan hey everyone look he just learned a new word .
now step 2 is learn when and how to use it ... ok ? say it now "ok boomer" say it .. there an opportunity for you child
@Marsel Shtylla yes boomer
Y'all are aware that the audience has just been muted right....? Lmfao
OHHH
Yeah the audience isn't hooked up the any microphones. She is. So you hear her over any noise they make.
@@AnxietyRat yes and they usually cancel out their voices so the speaker's voice is more audible.
yup it took me a while to realize this then i thought about how they do this same thing when watching certain artist performances on video sometimes. there's obviously no way the audience could be that silent lmao
@@nanditaarora1898 That's what I said?
Brian Cox did a Q&A at a high school in America a few years back. He asked the children at the end what they wanted to be when they grew up. He said over 50% of the school said famous. He was so baffled, he was actually embarrassed that the educational system had failed them on guidence to a proper career with aspirations.
she was so confident and eloquent on the stage when she spoke before the audience. I wish I could be like that as she did. I loved her speech, inspiring and convincing. 😘😘😘
Should've called it a NED talk
Edit- thanks for 700+ likes guys.
rip ned
LMAO
LOL
LOL
😂😂😂
Not a talk we deserved but a talk we needed. Thank you very much!!
The mic did not pick up the Audience voice or laughter. Don't worry about them being white walkers.
It picked up sometimes though? It just sounds like sometimes they laugh and mostly they dont.
Love you, Maisie. Keep up the good work. 'Finally a girl knows she is someone'
I think the microphone just isn't picking up the crowd reaction. There's no way they were all just staring silently.
Correct, It only picks them up when they are really loud so any kind of regular applause and chuckling will not be picked up.
Yeh, the feed is from the voice mic 2" away probably in a theatre where the sound doesn't project from the audience. Usually if you hear an audience someone put a mic for the audience there purposely.
@@jorgepeterbarton I really want to believe you
What are you guys talking about, the audience is perfectly clear when they actually make sounds now and again
I think it was her jokes at the beginning that set her up for failure
"Stick them with the pointy end"
Standing ovation
I dont know how to use it.
11:47 Actors are not only as good as their writers. You've proven that Maisie in Season 8 of GoT. You're much much better. Just like the Grips, Costume Designers, CGI Artist.... etc....etc....etc...
