I’ve grown Venus flytraps before, and they’re kind of picky about what they’ll actually eat. They want protein, which is how they get their nitrogen since their natural bog environment is so nutrient poor. They don’t want a lot of fat, though. Feeding them bits of hamburger resulted in the traps rotting. Red meat is too rich for their slow digestion. One plant enjoyed a bit of the meat from buffalo chicken. It digested it down to white powder and didn’t seem to mind the spice. If they don’t like what they’ve caught, the traps will reopen the next day. If they like it, they seal shut, as you saw. If they happen to leak, don’t touch that liquid that oozes out. It reeks, and the smell is very hard to get off! I’ve had plants that became anorexic, too. They would close their traps but wouldn’t eat anything. I’m assuming they had all the nitrogen they needed or were unhappy in some other way. I had no idea they would try to digest candy, though! That’s interesting. I would have thought it would prefer the gel center because there’s some protein in there.

Some people will argue, and some farmers that find trapped and/or dead sheep in big berry bushes will agree, that large vine thorny type plants are designed to do just that. Caterpillar: I have escaped death itself
Also caterpillar: Hey, is that another plant? I must consume...
When I was growing up, I remembered reading in the plant care book" that came with the Venus flytrap that a small crumb of ground beef could be used to feed it in the absence of insects...
When I was a kid I had a plant and its instructions said the same thing. I tried it, but the trap turned brown and shriveled up.
@@lorrainesekera4100 sunlight and water?
@@pumpkin8222 I gave it sunlight and water. The only flowers that died were the ones I fed the beef to.
Never seen anyone torture a plant before.

Imagine surviving the ferocious apex predator but dying to a plant
"we had already shoved anything we could in its mouth"
I have one more idea......

You can try shoving a very smol book into its mouth or something that is poisonous to them if ya wanna kill em

Your idea might not be one you want to follow through on.
I hope everyone knows that this is not a toy, this is a living creature, so if you plan to get one make sure to care for it and not just get it as a toy that can eat skittles.
🙄 they eat bugs duh.
@milkman it need nourishment
Bruh, even if it's carnivorous, it's a plant. No need to act like it's animal abuse.
@@Luiszerep acting like a plant doesn’t deserve a fulfilled life. you are not superior than plants. if you’re gonna get a goddam plant then care for it
@sprock then don't get the plant. It's really not that hard
The bug was smiling at the face of death, you got me with that line.

So can you tell me what happened to the one with pepperoni?
Imagine if these things were big enough to trap animals.
or humans😬
well thats good :D
I've seen a video of a Venus flytrap eating a frog

Some people will argue, and some farmers that find trapped and/or dead sheep in big berry bushes will agree, that large vine thorny type plants are designed to do just that. That the thorns are offensive as much as defensive. They trap, immobilize and kill weak but somewhat large animals, to enrich the soil around itself.. kinda creepy if you think about it.. 😞

“And it sucks out all of juice.” Indeed.
The plant will have diabetes if you give them skittles.
Diabeetus
:( aww
I didn’t know a plant had to produce insulin to regulate its blood sugar 🥴
We need to know about the sausage though.
" The fish died on it's own , so we did not think we did anything wrong" haha .. can say that for the bug's though . Nice Video , this was interesting to watch . Fascinating when you think about it , whether it's a plant , or a critter . At the end of the day , Life feed's on life .
When the jaws of the flytrap close, it takes the plant a lot of energy and when it doesn’t get the nutrients of the bug that escaped, it can be very bad and sometimes even kill the flytrap if it happens too much. This is why you shouldn’t trigger the flytrap for fun
So the plant need to eat bugs? Or can they get another nutrients suply?
Ayunda bp I’m not fully sure. I think it’s best to give them what they would eat in the wild but I’m sure there are several other things they can eat that won’t be terrible for them and will benefit them but bugs are def the best option
Ayunda bp I know they can survive without eating anything at all but the bugs are additional nutrition
