Thank you for this video and for being who you are!! I feel like so many people can connect to how you feel and your energy for learning a new language, where it truly feels like a part of themselves that they're just beginning to discover-- also I love that you mentioned Language Transfer!!! I feel like this app and method is so slept on - not enough people use or know about it!
I’m so glad you mentioned immersing yourself in the culture, not just immersing yourself by changing language on tech. I also love that you highlighted imitation, being a kid again, and embracing looking stupid. I’ve been priorizing traveling to learn more. I thought I could learn without it, but it’s the push that I need. Thank you for doing the thing & sharing your trips.

I know this video is old but I love this so much! I also chose Paisa Colombian accent to learn when I started! At first I was learning Mexican dialect but when I got on HelloTalk I became friends somehow with many many Colombians and ended up switching because I absolutely loved their accent. Now 6 months into my journey I still have a handful from Medellín who are teaching me. One is so amazing with me he sends me audios everyday to specifically teach me the paisa accent with speaking etc. he is an amazing teacher and I wouldn’t know half of my Spanish I know now without him ❤️ I can’t wait to finally go to Medellín and visit now that I have made friends there 🫶🏼
Your video was the motivation I needed to stay consistent AND persistent when learning Spanish or any other language. I never considered Colombian Spanish as an option till now. Lol Thats crazy. As a black Muslim man with Caribbean roots and also from New York, Thank You. And thank you for showing us your journey👍🏿.
Really enjoyed watching your video im myself Somali also learning Spanish choose the Colombian accent but love the Dominican one im learning because I always loved to travel around whole Latin America countries and also planning one day to move for few years to Spain Barcelona , thanks for the tips
Thanks for sharing this info. You're the first content creator I've seen who is very aware of accents. Maybe it's because you're from NYC. Beginners usually cannot hear the various accents in the new language being learned. They commonly develop a mutt sounding one, which can be difficult to lose, when exposed to people from different areas and countries too soon. Like you said, it's best to pick somewhere specific and focus on talking like them then later ask a native speaker from where you sound like. The choice can change after the ears can detect accent differences.
I wasn't sure if I heard you correctly, but I think you said bilingue blogs is afrolatino? he's a black American, who decided to aquire the dominican accent, and immerse himself in the culture. I watch him too, he's incredible, sorry if I misunderstood you, I truly enjoyed this video. 🌻🌻🩷
As a Venezuelan, i Wanted to learn Colombian Spanish just for fun and girly.. it is soooo hard because my Venezuelan accent just keeps creeping in. Ecpecially cause I’ve been raised to basically hate Colombia cause of the rivalry between the two countries. But keep going you’re already doing so good!! 🎀💗
lol I feel like big brother been listening to my conversation when YT recommended me this video 😂…I may be traveling to Colombia late September w friends and I was telling them I needed to brush up on Spanish. For me, when I was learning back in the day, I chose PR Spanish do to them being a neighboring island where I’m from, being a part of the culture (the VI has been a melting pot of multiple cultures), AND since there is a region in PR where the folks don’t roll their r’s (I can’t do that for shit) lol…I also came across Bilingue Blogs years back and was shook; I think when I first saw videos from him, he was 10 years into Spanish learning and hadn’t even visited DR yet…if he didn’t say he was black American, he would have fooled me lol…for language transfer, that app look like it has gotten so much better. I think when I first heard of it, it was still new and only had like 2 or 3 languages w little content, so I kinda of forgot about it over the years; will def redownload…love this video and it added the the motivation I need to resume language learning…I’ve dabbled in many languages over the years (with Spanish being the most fluent, but wasn’t able to find people to talk with) and I definitely want to revisit them, and gain some form of fluency…best of luck to you! Now to binge the Colombia vlogs lol
Everyone says to follow creators from your chosen country (mine also happens to be Colombia), but Google searching creators just doesn't do it for me because I'm not interested in those "most popular" channels.
