Thanks for the quick review, Shawn. I own one (a 2012 model) and it is simply a fantastic bike. I've owned HD, Goldwing, and Victory touring bikes, and this one is by far my favorite. Powerful and comfortable, this bike a just a joy to ride. I hope you get to take one on a longer ride.
we should do international program to have all painted road lines used with SAND ! for safe non slip advantage and even cars and foot traffic can benefit !
What a lively bike, good to see you had a CBX, I was in Oz when they came out & nearly bought one but got a Laverda Jota --they say it was hand built by one man --well mine must of been on the vino all week. Have a lovely Xmas )(my new Fatboy arrives in a week or so )
Reviewed on my birthday. That's nice but what's rally cool is this bike. I own a 2016 K 1600GT. It's rides great and will do over 150 MPH if you so desire. I have installed a complete Remus exhaust system on mine. More torque is the end result and it sounds better too. These are awesome bikes. Stay tuned for the mid year K1600B (bagger) version of this bike. All black with bags and a more slung (lower) seat. I saw this B version at EICMA this year. It looks fantastic. Good review by the way.
I like the seating position of the GT compared to the GTL. Will the rear trunk for the GTL fit on the GT ? and if so does it work with central locking system ? Thanks a bunch, love the videos.
Shawn, How long does it take to build one from the box to test drive? Love the videos! Next time you are down by Corvalis wave to my Daughter at OSU for me!
+Harry Hall - Not sure when we'll receive the new units with reverse, but it may be soon as BMW is offering some great deals on the current models... Thanks Harry!
Great video I own a GTL K1600 and your right its like a Cadillac and has a tons of power. I enjoy riding the bike best bike I rode but there are some down falls. I had issues with Coil failures three and one water pump. Had the bike for 3 1/2 years and put 25,000 miles on it and when you push it around by hand it is vary heavy but it is a big bike. The bike rides really nice and is not heavy at all when riding it is vary stable. I did have to install a custom seat and handle bars but I ride all day 400 to 500 miles some times. However with its problems I still own it and do not want to sell it at all.
The GTL and the GT has good foot stance, Im 5'8" too with a 30" inseam and I fit them all pretty well. The only thing Id do is make sure or have it put in is a reverse. Just in case you get stuck in a spot and cant get it out without some help. Theyre heavy. 800 lbs wet. The latest ones have reverse. Some of the first ones don't.
I realize the roads wore wet and you wanted to be safe. But that was a tease I wanted it longer, the ride and review. I have seen many reviews over the years of the 1600GT and 1600GTL but I was hoping you would add more since the bikes been around awhile. Plus you must understand it's winter and we need our motorcycle touring "FIX" through people like you in better weather than where I am at. LOL. I test rode the 2011 and past after owning a 2008 BMW RT. I was waiting for them to perfect the throttle by wire response. I guess that has been remapped and works great now.
does anyone know about the passenger comfort on these bikes? I am 6'2 and the wife is 5'10. Looks like she would sit up very high. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. What a nice bike!
Shawn - how is the audio on that BMW, in terms of ease-of-use and sound quality, compared to a H-D or an Indian tourer? That's a impressive bike, hope they give it to you as a demo or for the next epic ride with 3XDH ;-)
The radio is bull in my opinion, wen driving recieve the radio no steady programm, for that kind of mony it should be a DAB radio (It's a option almost €1500,-!). But connecting to the phone with bluetooth you can enjoy internet radio or Spotify. For me driving the biike I don't wont listen to the radio.
Do new riders ever get on these? I like this better than the 1200.... just not really sure if I'd like something like the 1200RS or something full on like this. A fully built 1200RS is like 28K and this is 34k so for that much money it doesn't really matter at that point, not worth not getting the right one. This seems like the greatest bike of all but the 800 pounds seems kind of crazy... Wouldn't mind this styling and technology with less weight and power. City, commutes, travel, daily use.
Well I've had a Nissan 350z, Mustang GT, and BMW 3 Series. My favorite easily was the BMW. The others were either cheap, poorly engineered, or poorly executed. They had bad feel ,the BMW had magic. Don't think I'd mind feeling like I'm in a tilting luxury car.
Just purchased a 2016 GTL Exclusive and man o man what a work of Engineering. This bike is scary fast.

You mentioned a CBX. I sat on one when I was three years old. Instant love of motorcycles for the rest of my life.
Nice video. Extremely nice motorcycle. Glad to see activity on the channel. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I enjoy looking at the gauges and stuff...... and once in a while I look at the road ahead....... :)
we should do international program to have all painted road lines used with SAND ! for safe non slip advantage and even cars and foot traffic can benefit !
Thinking bout buyin one of these? But that antenna to the right of the windshield and no self cancelling signals??
I had a 2012 GTL, moved to a 2015 RT and now want to move back to the 2017 GT, just miss everything about this bike

Awesome bike!! I've been waiting for this .
Thanks Abel!!

Louie Lamoore rode the gt today and hadn't heard about the b. Loved the gt, if I sell my Street Glide, I would buy the b today.
Is there any way to quiet the loud whistling of the air intake? Really nice bike. Thanks for the vid
Mine whistles in first gear. I wonder what it was.
I like the seating position of the GT compared to the GTL. Will the rear trunk for the GTL fit on the GT ? and if so does it work with central locking system ? Thanks a bunch, love the videos.
What is the white bike on 0:22 ?
The one to the left is a Can-Am Spyder RT-LTD, and the one far back behind the K1600GT is an Indian Scout...
Thanks for watching!
Shawn Smoak I realized that it was a Can-am just after a few seconds. Thanks mate.
Shawn, How long does it take to build one from the box to test drive? Love the videos! Next time you are down by Corvalis wave to my Daughter at OSU for me!
How does this compare to the Harley SGS?
That is a super nice bike. The shifter looks a little short, any trouble getting your toe under the shifter?
awesome first ride video as always man when are you going to ride a r1200rt I rode one and loved it alot
saw one on the net with reverse , what about that one ?
+Harry Hall - Not sure when we'll receive the new units with reverse, but it may be soon as BMW is offering some great deals on the current models...
Thanks Harry!
I wonder if the K1600GT exhaust can be swapped for the K1600B exhaust? Like the B much better.
NO
You can't beat the Germans! Awesome!

Yup coil failures are a problem but it's a great ride!
what's the biggest tour bike they sell? love the videos, Merry Christmas.
The K1600GTL, which is the bike Shawn tested but with a topcase and a slightly different seating position.
thank you.
these are fantastic bikes!
I like the fog lights they put on em!!!
No number plate for test rider?
Is this a 2017 model? I am considering this bike but worry if I am too short for it. I am 5'6''.
ZHIYUAN YAO They can put a short or tall seat on for you I think. You can choose which seat you want at the time of purchase.

Shawn - do you get any failures from these 6 cyl engines?
Be hellishly expensive to fix after the warranty runs out!
Love the bike though.
Do you sell them?
Yes, our site link is in the second line of the description...
Thanks!

That is a nice looking bike
AWESOME BIKE!
She's like a rich mans FJR.
Tcrs✊
Probably more like a Goldwing.....
The party trick though is that the K1600 handles very with a good lean angle and has a superb 160bhp fast and responsive engine for the type of bike.
She's my FJR now!
OMG HE REMEMBERED HIS MIRROS BEFORE HE LEFT THE SHOP! Lol

I think I'm going to just wait for the new Hayabusa
I'm so jealous, you can have no idea.
Groovy
The K16 is pure engine porn! :)
You thinking Shawn ? 😆
BOB Ross riding a motor.

Screw a new Camry, I'd buy this instead.
That's a lot of bike for a lot of money I betcha :)

My next bike! Good bye harley
:P
Bar none the best bike on the road today. I think I soiled my underwear a bit.
