Chinese capital was available for relatively cheaper cost ( can you tell me the cost to build with western funds then and now) and the mistake was selling it. It was not a debt trap. The debt trap was created when RW borrowed 12.5 billion in ISBs between 2015-2019 which can’t be attributed to any asset . Purchase of equipment’s from contracted nation ( China or Dutch) is a concern but we need to compare the same with international standards to come into a conclusion . As far as I remember , Mahaweli project had a similar structure with various donor nations employing engineers and machineries which resulted in most of the FX attributed o the projects ending up with the donor nations. China-US war in 2026 is simply childish. (It’s a separate discussion altogether ) .Relations between US and China are very complex but both are unlikely to start a war which might end up starting the 3rd world war . However, Chinese are building their strategic assets across Indian ocean, and we should do our best not to host them in this regard. In the same manner, we should reject Indian or US moves to gain strategic foothold. Further, comparing China to a nation run by a gang of thieves is pure , pure political immaturity. I would suggest you to discuss corporate finance more and be cautious about the topics which you are not that familiar with . We admire our democratic tradition while acknowledging the inherent disadvantages. Chinese model is based on centralized democracy. The authorities are elected in a pyramid structure. It is more democratic than a private corporation where officials are selected /appointed from the top. BOD select upper management, upper management select middle management ….etc .. However, it seems to be less democratic than te western style democracies like SL. Their economic model is a combination of SOEs , private owned enterprises and mix of both. Th model has successfully elevated the country to have the most companies in the fortune 500 list by 2022. Also, it has surpassed US as the largest economy ( in PPP) by 2015. We in SL have a lost o learn from both systems and our economic system is actually a refection of both . Therefore , I would suggest you to learn from western scholars in assessing China even when its considered an enemy . What if a clause is inserted in the contract,that provides trade settlements should done within our jurisdiction. Please explain.
It was mentioned that the position of this project will be good in terms of dollar income through operations, if the trade settlement domicile is termed as SL. As of now there is no such mention in the TOR

This guy is misleading his fans.. he’s saying he has worked in oil n gas industry if tht was de case he’s purposely misleading by saying stuff like there is no point of de refinery if it is export oriented… this refinery when build has de capacity to refine 100,000 - 200,000 (at optimum capacity) let’s assume its refining 100,000 barrel per day thts equal to 12,820 metric tons of refined (+/- depending on de viscosity)..Our daily consumption stands at 4000 metric tons per day n de refinery would produce 12,820 metric tons so wht are we going to do with de excess 8820 metric tons? Manju Oluwa uda halanada?😁.. in Singapore n UAE there are more than 100 of refineries which runs a similar business model which import crude oil n then refine products.. because of those refineries n ecosystem has created tht branches into bunkering,exporting refined products(direct forex income) n create oil n gas related jobs n businesses (likes of bunker n refined products trading brokerage firms) so this refinery would break the deadlock n bring more investors who would invest on same trade
More investors like that nigerian prince who bid for this refinery 😂😂😂
