Im a 6'5 black guy from the projects in Compton Ca and I felt so fucking alone for a very long time. I listend to LP ,SOAD disturbed slipk mudvaye BFMV Hawthorne heights atreyu my chem greenday ROCP good Charlotte simple plan Blink Sum41 Tool and so many others.. this song and video was the very first time I ever felt like I was understood and welcomed......I felt like the song was me. I cant express my love and gratitude to ATDI/Mars. You guys saved me from the dark. Black people black sheeped me , i wasnt black enough. And non blacks didn't either because they thought of me as a poser. I was truly outcasted by my parents brothers cousins neighbors and classmates . I was bullied. Often humiliated and insulted. Black girls didn't like me. And the non blacks accepted me but like an adopted child. All the black jokes. Tinto negro mallate llanta Cara Noche . I heard it all from both sides.. I was kind, i drew comics wrote poetry skate boarded .. this was one of the first bands besides tool that was was not corny they weren't cheesy they weren't trendy the weren't mainstream . They were real. They were original. They were Raw they were original They were artistic. They were creative. They were They were unique. They were poetic. They were passionate. They were everything that I saw in me . Every word sung expressed love passion anger sorrow. They were true artist. I am sincerely honored to have been able to experience artistic masterpieces in one of the most purest forms of art.
Mars Volta's Deloused in the Comatorium is my favorite album of all time. It is a masterpiece!
i’m black too bro. nice to see you found them.
@@hite539 sickk... where abouts are u from?
@@eskimoblack nyc
@hite539 damn bro, we are literally on opposite coasts... I live in San Diego now.. its fkn awesome here.. what other bands do you like? I'm sure there has to be alot if you like these guys. They aren't your typical band you have to have been listening for quite a while to appreciate
once every 10 years or more comes a band that blows everything away with pure energy... god i miss them
Ditto. I dig ATDI more than their other band The Mars Volta although TMV does have some great music.
Wya brooo it's been another 10 years
Me too
Same here
This is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time and just playing it out of the speaker in 2024 really makes me understand that remasters are a precious thing they need to continue happening
🙏👁🙏
The rest of the album songs sound wayyy better, I’m listening to the whole album right now and the transition to this suddenly sounding terrible was a bit shocking lol.
@@Nightwishmaster that's probably just coz this video is old and bad quality, it sounds fine to me on something like spotify or other newer videos
@@burningjdm It's because it's the video yes, the official audio upload is the album track and it sounds like the rest of the album.
I remember my friends and bandmates play this on a cd player with typical speakers, the copy that he had was just pirated in the internet back in the day you'll know what am saying.. when he play this track we all just slamming and screaming everytime the verse"cutaway!" And sing along with it.. like we where in a rock concert; such happy days as a teenager.
one of the absolute most important opening riffs ever.
I love how they took two guitars played them out of tune in a way that sounded unique and great together. Normal people wouldn’t be able to play guitar in unique ways and make it sound good.
I remember getting home from school and seeing this on trl every day, effin trip
Derrick Boess before TH-cam I would sit hours waiting for this
Wow, their live shows looked like total chaos. Looks awesome.
One of the great songs and videos from back when there were two music channels and everything was so much simpler and better . . .
I think this is objectively one of the best songs ever
The good old days of calling radio stations to ask "who'd you just play, that 'get away' song"?
My bro told me of a caller to a La station asking to play that "snap my picture" song. He was talking about "smack my bitch up" by prodigy.
15years later. And damn.
I've been looking for this song for years, love this song. Mtv was great in those years...
“Pucker up and kiss the asphalt now” randomly jumps out of my mouth
Every single time I go skating
The song is about the alienation of touring. The character the one armed scissor cuts everyone away he is the alienator.
This song scared me when I was was a kid. I've never heard a rock song that sounded this rough, raw, and unhinged before. For some reason, I kept coming back to it. Soon enough, it became one of my favorites.
This video is so insanely crusty but god I love it
This is what I play when I want to break shit but I can't.
Instant anger management.
What's up with the audio
2006
240potato
this was recorded with a brick....brick sound quality isn't the best
you had ONE job. lol
Well, that's the way we used to listen to music on the internet in 2006 x)
one of the best bands of my life …
Tantos años buscando este tema y esta banda que al fin lo pude encontrar!!!
jajaja estoy feliz para ti
es uno de mis álbumes favoritos
espero que yo hubiera encontrado este álbum más temprano...
Saw this on mtv2 in 2002 and it changed my life forever. Got into hardcore and went vegan and straight edge and i credit straight edge namely from keeping me out of the bad I would have found myself in most likely, as I was a really bad and delinquent kid.
I feel you. Saw this band like ten times in a, row in the midwest. Changed my life, outlook even though they were young kids even then.
Didn't become vegan or straight edge. Just continued living my life. Eat even more steak now. Sometimes a song us just a song.
@@tokyot609 music taught me to care. social issues like veganism and straight edge were just a catalyst. I ended up discerning the priesthood in the Catholic Church, decided it wasn't for me, so I got married and had kids. I eat a lot of meat now too, only because veganism is a shitty diet for the human body and the planet. Grass feed beef rules!
Just had to come take a listen again. Too good💥
Does somebody else still hearing this in 2024!? Come on!! 🤙🤙
Yuup
I am listening to it right now.
20 years later and im still blown away.
Thank you at the drive in ❤
Reminds me of when I worked at Journeys at the mall. They played this video all the time.
Such an awesome track
Heard this on music choice after graduating from high school in 2015. I can't believe that this song is 22 years old...WOW! Time really does fly
como me gusta esta banda y este video en especial.............
Very witty, right on from both of you. Thanks for a nice chuckle!

I love the quality
240p baby. Sounds like they downloaded it from napster
Wow... Thank you Scroobius pip for playing this when you took over NME..you introduced me into a whole new Genre of awesome music.
That's so awesome, oh man, OK Calculator? Love that!!! Too Good!!!!
this video is ever playing in my head
Fuck. So great. I was a teenie-bopper fan and I love revisiting them in my adulthood. 30 feels weird after having growing up with this.
hello 240p
this band changed my life!
Classic ❤️🔥
If you dislike any atdi song you must have been looking for something else and stumbled upon genius and its just too much for you to take in
this is music at its absolute peak
Why does this sound like it was recorded under water?
jJá nem me lembrava mais desta música fantástica. Muito boa... Ouvia muito e esse clip é D+.(Great)
i generally prefer to link or share the official licensed source but this is an audio shite quality shadow I haven't encountered since the days of LaserDisc.
My shits are in better quality this this audio
Amazing
how many times was this compressed? its an interesting effect though.
"1000 vibrant red pressings are available exclusively at Hot Topic."
Talk about getting one hell of a flashback. Felt like everyone had a Hot Topic exclusive back back then.
I"ve been looking for this video since the early 2000's. The moment where they show the churn from the aft deck of a vessel stuck with me me.
A few years later, I would be standing on the stern, or bow, of vessels, from Alaska, Singapore, Crete, or New Orleans, and I'd think of this song, and weirdly this video as well.
Hold fast my friends.
Impossible to dislike this.
This band could of changed the world.REUNION TOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@CLP3005 some of the members went on to create The Mars Volta. feel free to correct me if i'm wrong
i would love to see footage of the show their playing at 2:17.
i see pictures and video clips in atdi music video but i want to see actual footage.
saw some one time but quality so bad u could barely even tell what song they were playing.
Remember seeing their video on mtv back in 2000! In PR The lyrics were tough! and tough to understand too
I love this song and just read the lyrics cut away!!
Hearing the quality of the recordings, just shocking lol... haven't listened to this song in nearly 20 years damnnn
this song makes me feel like a bull in a china shop
Best band ever

Yes
ALTERA HISTORIA DU ROCK
Yeah me too, the first time I eve heard this song was on MTV2 in like 2000 or early 01. Then they changed the video, like it better this way.
que buena BANDA
Web rádio Rock FM Brasil Rio de Janeiro me trouxe aqui 🇧🇷🎸🤘
I don`t know why they had to go and make another video for this song. This was the first one I caught on MTV2 all those years ago. Such a great fucking song/album/group.
Prob a concert in Asia?
This video is good, let's enjoy it's vintage look.
It's supposed to look this way. It was grainy AF, 20 years ago when it came out. Thank you for appreciating it's aesthetic.
💛
💓
@vicdamone13 all youtube video have bad audio quality lol especially on 240p
Muy buena rolla lo raro es que yo iva pasando cuando tomaron una foto para el video y no los conosia yodavia
hey guys, did you know that the lead singer and lead guitarist from this band went on to form the mars volta? just wanted you to know (note sarcasm)
Dope ass band, bwoy!!!!!!
MARS VOLTA!!!!!
A thousand razor blades could not equate to the edge and depth of this band. I go to sleep to this shit. Healthy shit.
I like this video better then the "official video" upload but wish the audio was better on it.
