Great, now I’m going to get the Sunflower song stuck in my head again. Always enjoy seeing the Japanese travel vlogs about these ferries, interesting to see a western take on one.
Love hearing you guys shoutout other travel TH-camrs! Both of you, Paul Lucas, and Michael Downie are my favorite people to watch here! Amazing video too!
I’m from Osaka japan🇯🇵I love your channnel😊 9:09 that’s “Satsumaage” Fried fish cake. made from fish paste🐟sunflower Buffet is amazing. You can eat fresh sashimi. I recommend take the ferry from Osaka. The landscape is beautiful and sometime there are daytime cruise. 9times this year and very popular. You can see beautiful view from under the huge bridge🌉Kobe is also beautiful🌆single tiny room is very nice too. Everything new and clean✨
What a wonderful video! I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and rode many ferries, but never imagined there were ferries like that. It was beautiful and interesting. I’m so glad you took this trip and shared it with us. Thank you!
Yay!!! I'm so happy your filmed your Sunflower ferry experience! It's a bucket list dream of mine to visit Japan and travel by ferry. I watch alot of Japanese ferry TH-cam videos; usually without English audio, so and it's surreal and wonderful to see you guys there. I love your channel Jeb! Kampai from Canada!
Japan really has every type of transportation across the entire country. The two major airlines even used to fly 747’s domestically (as everyone probably knows). I wish they had them in service longer so Jeb could’ve reviewed it. I love watching these types of videos, definitely the nicest looking ferries I’ve ever seen. Great review as always Jeb! It’s very nice Suzanne reviews as well so you two get to travel the world together on all sorts of transportation.
Having seen many a video about these cruise ships from Japanese TH-camrs, I was curious to see how non-Japanese people see it. I had hoped to factor that into my own journey in April/May, but it just didn't work out. Maybe next time. The Beppu-Osaka route is largely sheltered by the Seto Inland Sea, so it would be a lot calmer even in bad weather than the open seas, say going from Tokyo to Hokkaido which sails through the open Pacific Ocean. Did you do any sightseeing in Beppu? I day-tripped there from Fukuoka, and visited the "Seven Hells" hot springs. There are a lot worse ways to spend a day in Japan, though it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Some of the seven hells have very impressive gardens built around them, and one even has crocodiles (lots of crocodiles). If you haven't seen them and find your way back to Beppu some day, I recommend checking them out.
Another gem of a video. Also loved the Paul Lucas shoutout :) I watch you guys, Paul Lucas, and Noel Phillips. Also loved seeing you guys on Airline Videos Live. :)
This channel has become one of my favorites to watch. Theres something about Jebs Flanders personality that I find honest and likeable. Keep up the good work.
As is expected, another fantastic mode of transportation! Weather it's trains, jets, ferry's, cruise ships......you two make everything exciting as it should be!!! And I really enjoy the respect and report you both display to each other!!! I watch your videos at night, lying in bed because your videos are calming! Keep it all up please......I was hesitant about watching a ship cruise and overnight ferry ride, but was so pleased to have done so! You two could go to NASA and make a moon trip lots of fun!!! 🤗🙋❤️
I appreciate finally it's covered with voice in English as I never can stand with quiet video with subtitles. But I didn't expect it will be Jeb and Suzanne! Thank you!
I was surprised to see Jeb hosting this presentation. I was expecting to see the other guy's video; actually couple of other guys posts. Nice to hear narration rather than subtitles!
Great video. I've seen lots of these Japanese ferry videos and am always amazed by how empty they look. I'm interested in how you write your scripts. They are so crisp and all have this same great cadence. Do you outline what you want to cover, do it on the spot, or in post production. You both make it look so easy and seemless but the behind the scenes prep must be immense.
I have had the same of traveling from Kyushu to Osaka. My idea was to slow down and a new way of traveling. Thank you very much, Suzanne and Jeb, for sharing your experience video with us.
My favorite moment in the video was Jeb’s response to the question at breakfast, “Potatoes?” Looks like an amazing ferry experience, except for the entertainment.
One thing I like about your channel is, you try out things I never knew existed. Most I wouldn't try out. Just because they are just to over the top. But that is what is fun about this channel.😊
My favorite ferry in Japan is "Taiheiyo ferry". Their ferries go between Hokkaido to Sendai, Sendai to Nagoya. Those price is reasonable and if you want to save money, you can choose really reasonable one( but you need to sleep with people on the floor...if you pay more you can choose good rooms too) They have a concert or movie night, foods are good too. When I was living in Sendai, I sometime go to Hokkaido by the ferry.
Jeb: "a train to Osaka trashes 4hrs and eye gonna try it out for you." Also Jeb: "there is a ferry to Osaka which takes 13hrs and were gonna try it out for you." 😂 you're the best Jeb
This is the sort of content I follow your channel for. I'd probably choose the more Western accommodation, but really enjoyed seeing the Japanese style cabin.
Love it, Jeb and Suzanne! I would love to book a Japanese style room, but alas, I'd have to go Western. I can get on the floor. Getting back up is another story!
The way it opened up into that main room from the entry foyer reminded me of that episode of Futurama when Fry discovered that the closet in Bender’s apartment was actually a massive apartment.
Nice content. For an overnight ferry I can understand why they would not have a convenience store or coffee shop like a cruise. The vending machines provide all the convenience. Self serve is very common in parts of Asia and helps keep costs low. I like that you two chose the Japanese accomodation :).
Wow what an abreveated cruise!😀looked so comfy to me! Look Japanese decor and overall neatness! Thank you Jen and Suzanne for your channel! I really love it! I’m your neighbor to the north in Virginia! Have related in Greensboro! Can’t wait for next trip!!❤️
Beppu is one of the best hot springs across Japan. They have lots of the springs coming up from the hot water reservoir with the health benefits under the ground.. I wish you could enjoy your lots of your times.
A few years ago I took a ferry from Tokyo to Hokkaido, from I think the same line, and it was wonderful. A mini cruise. It makes me sad that there aren't the same thing here in the States (other than Alaska). ::edit:: I just watched the video Paul Lucas and realized I'm two types of Travellers in me. One, for business, I want the fastest and most efficient, but if I'm just traveling I want the slowest.
So great that you guys are doing Japan! We have watched some of the Japanese travel reviews for some time now, so nice to get a different point of view. And oh BTW, there are even travel videos that simply go hunting down vending machines. Gotta love it! 😀
Years ago I took an overnight ferry from Greece to Italy. There was actually a fancy 1 that had a swimming pool, etc but my ex was being pragmatic & said we could take the "budget" 1. Well it was truly budget. The room had bunk beds, 1 office chair from the 1950s & a sink. Toilet was down the hall & shared. The crew only spoke Greek & the officers only Italian. Food options were absolutely minimal. Wouldn't do that again. Yours looked fantastic in comparison!
Watch comment incoming! Is that the ultra rare SBGE301? That’s a stunner! How Apropos that you’re wearing a GS during your escapades in its motherland. Love it!
I've watched many Japanese ferry videos, done by native Japanese youtubers. You went to bed a LOT earlier than they do. lol. Their videos average a half an hour long because they document EVERYTHING. Also, no, that wasn't a potato. It was a fish cake. (Thank you for English subtitles on those Japanese videos.) Glad you enjoyed your trip though.
Yeah, Japanese Ferry! I follow several Japanese vloggers who take the ferries. And the Japanese room is considered a suite because it has the bathroom. They have coffee, tea and soft drinks, and ice cream in the lounge.
Haha!! Loved the face with whatever you tried at the 9 minute mark. Hilarious! Looked like y’all both had a blast, but why do I feel like Suzanne was the one who pulled you along on this adventure?? 😂😂😂 You didn’t seemed too thrilled. I feel like you would’ve rather taken the bullet train. LOL.
i just watched. there is one thing you left out: the sunflower-song. its played all over the ferry - even in the rooms. 🙂 once you heard it you cant get it out of your head. 🙂
I toke the ferry to New Foundland a bunch of times overnight , I was horrible sea sick one time and a few times a little sick , but I'd do ut gladly again, I love the newfies
I recommend that you should try Japanese luxurious sleeper trains such as the Seven star train in Kyushu, Twilight Mizuho, Shiki and more across Japan. Needless to say, the Tokaido Sanyo bullet train N700S, too. You can book the reserved seat with your suitcase spaces.
A Trip to Japan ehhh? Makes me wonder if you'll be trying the Sunrise express sleeper trains, it was my first foray into these sorts of videos, would be amusing to see it come full circle
I love the tour, it really gave good insight to ferry. After you buy tickets do you need to provide just the reference number to crew to go in or is there a document you need to print? I’m going on ferry in March and would appreciate your help!
We didn’t have any printed document, we told them our names and booking number when we checked in and they provided printed tickets, which also serve as the key to your room!
That face at 9:09 with the unknown food. Priceless and relatable! Looks like a fantastic cruise!
Been to Japan, had unknown food, made the same face!
it was prolly fried oyster lol
that would likely be fried konjac
Face, too funny.
That’s Satsumaage. Fried fish paste🐟very tasty 😊
Great, now I’m going to get the Sunflower song stuck in my head again.

Great review as always Jeb! It’s very nice Suzanne reviews as well so you two get to travel the world together on all sorts of transportation.
It’s always a bit odd seeing the big widebody jets we normally associate with long international routes doing domestic flights in Japan.
That is the nicest ferry I’ve ever seen. Not surprised it’s in Japan! Great work Jeb and Suzanne!❤️✈️🛳️
It really is! Thank you!!
@@GreenerGrass have they stopped playing the "sunflower song" over the public address system?? Feels odd not hearing it a 1000x times.

いらっしゃいませ!Welcome to my home country! Though I now live in the US, I appreciate it that someone visits my home country. Thank you & enjoy!
Have fun traveling in Japan!
楽しんでね〜!
It was great meeting you and Suzanne at Shin-Osaka station yesterday. Highlight of my trip!
You too!! Thanks for saying hello!!
Another gem of a video. Also loved the Paul Lucas shoutout :) I watch you guys, Paul Lucas, and Noel Phillips. Also loved seeing you guys on Airline Videos Live. :)
I’m a big believer of “When in Rome …” I think you made the right choice in rooms and bed style.
Sometimes I find myself watching Japanese travel reviewers reviewing different trains and ferries
@SoloTravelJapan is my favorite!
@natecovertmallard4677 and these guys just HAD to take the Sunflower! 🌻 😩 😂 😂
@@elteescatAt least we didn’t have to listen to the sunflower song. 🤷🏼♂️🙉
I do it too
Solo Travel Japan is amazing, Abroad In Japan is incredible too
This is great content Jeb, I’m loving the recent additions of cruises and ferry voyages. Would love to see more of these in the future!
This channel has become one of my favorites to watch. Theres something about Jebs Flanders personality that I find honest and likeable. Keep up the good work.
Hi Jeb, I am impressed by your chopstick skill as you picked cherry tomato without a problem. Hope you enjoy the rest of the trip! 9:07

You did a ferry! Fantastic!!!
If I took this ferry, I'd definitely go for the Japanese room
Great video!
Great video Jeb! You covered it all…
I appreciate finally it's covered with voice in English as I never can stand with quiet video with subtitles. But I didn't expect it will be Jeb and Suzanne! Thank you!
There in another guy I watch that has done a bunch of the Japanese ferrys! They are on a whole different level.!
I was surprised to see Jeb hosting this presentation. I was expecting to see the other guy's video; actually couple of other guys posts. Nice to hear narration rather than subtitles!

Yay! A new video to start my day on a great note!
You guys are blessed to be able to take a trip to Japan 😊
My favorite moment in the video was Jeb’s response to the question at breakfast, “Potatoes?” Looks like an amazing ferry experience, except for the entertainment.
Pocari Sweat is Japan’s version of Gatorade..And they also have Aquarius..which is great.
One thing I like about your channel is, you try out things I never knew existed. Most I wouldn't try out. Just because they are just to over the top. But that is what is fun about this channel.😊
i really enjoy your videos, thank you!
You definitely picked up that GS boutique limited edition gmt while in Japan! Congrats! 🍊🗻
My favorite ferry in Japan is "Taiheiyo ferry".
Their ferries go between Hokkaido to Sendai, Sendai to Nagoya.
Those price is reasonable and if you want to save money, you can choose really reasonable one( but you need to sleep with people on the floor...if you pay more you can choose good rooms too)

Welcome Japan and my home town Osaka!😊
Jeb: "a train to Osaka trashes 4hrs and eye gonna try it out for you."
Also Jeb: "there is a ferry to Osaka which takes 13hrs and were gonna try it out for you." 😂 you're the best Jeb
That ferry was more like a cruise ship!! The journey itself would have surpassed the expectations of the destination!! Thanks for the review!
What a fun way to travel. I love that you went with the tradiitional Japanese style room. Always great to get the full cultural experience!
Same for me, getting up off the floor is impossible for me. I need at least two people to help,if I am too low including on the floor.
The way it opened up into that main room from the entry foyer reminded me of that episode of Futurama when Fry discovered that the closet in Bender’s apartment was actually a massive apartment.
Pocari Sweat is a must for me whenever I go to Japan.
I love it, Jeb. It’s remarkable to see the new addition of cruise and ferry content. Keep up the excellent content, Jeb!!
Nice content. For an overnight ferry I can understand why they would not have a convenience store or coffee shop like a cruise. The vending machines provide all the convenience. Great Video Guys! Thanks for sharing this adventure 😊 Keep up the great content!
First one. Great Video! Thank you both as always!
Beppu is one of the best hot springs across Japan. They have lots of the springs coming up from the hot water reservoir with the health benefits under the ground.. I wish you could enjoy your lots of your times.
Hello Jeb and Susan, the ferry is amazing, another wonderful video as always stay blessed
I've never experienced more intense heat and humidity than August in Japan. Pocari Sweat is a lifesaver -- literally!
Nice watching it now with a coffee happy holy Sunday guys !!! Love ya both x
I was in Japan in 2018

Washington, Hawaii, NY, NJ, MI, WI, some other NEC region states, all have some decent public ferries. WA is the best in the 48.
It looks lovely. Hope the beer was good. Your food looked tasty and your room was beautiful. That’s not a bad price!
Hi jeb, all of your videos are awesome and may I know which camera is used in your content.
So great that you guys are doing Japan! We have watched some of the Japanese travel reviews for some time now, so nice to get a different point of view. And oh BTW, there are even travel videos that simply go hunting down vending machines. Gotta love it! 😀
Dear JEB, thanks for this great video
All ferries are well kept clean and not boring. The meal prices are affordable. Safety firrst 👍

Interesting watching your take on this ship after watching Kugo Travels in a Western style room by a Japanese traveler.
Great video as always, Jeb. Hope one day you can experience some GA flying!
wonderful content Jeb & Susanne, keep the good work up

I never really thought about visiting japan 🇯🇵 but I sometimes always find content from there interesting, would like to visit someday.
My next Japan visit will definitely include a ferry trip.
Looks a bucket list for a trip when out that way
Love the Larry David line you snuck in there!

I was just on the Sunflower Kurenai last month! (Osaka to Beppu) Thought to myself, too bad Jeb only does trains and planes lol
Wow this is different i enjoy the new video 😊
The room is so coooooooooooool
I was in Japan for three weeks late December to January. Wish I knew about this ferry. Because it would have been fun but next time.
It was a cool, immersive experience. Hope you - and we - can get back there soon!

Great journey. I am catching up on all your travel videos. I love them all. Thank you both. And keep happy safe travelling 😁
They also have a ferry line that connects Ibaraki (Oharai) with Hokkaido (Tomakomai).
I'm surprised you didn't mention the theme song! Sunflower! Sunflower!
