My great-great grandfather was the oldest man in Oklahoma in the mid-1950s. He was born in 1852 and died in 1958, so pretty similar to Mr. Carter here. He was a farmer and worked very hard on his property. He didn't have electricity or running water until he was around 100 years old!

I did some research on "Pop" Carter, he was just blessed to come from a family of supreme genetics. His mother lived to be 109, his father lived to be 116, and his mother's father lived to the ripe ol' age of 121, you won't see this type of family life longevity too much anymore...

Not buying it. He was full of it and it showed. He come from a family of drifters that made their living from not being honest, slight of hand and telling tall tails also know as lies.
I believe he was a good entertainer, but when he appeared on Groucho he was closer to being in his early to mid seventies.
His smoking at 2 and drinking and eating anything he wanted was likely true.
There is no record of all of those children or even a verifiable one about a wife. And even had he had all those kids, twins and all, and his wife “said he was a man”, we all know how challenging it is for a male to produce. 🙄
Back then a person could literally tell any story they wanted to and unlike today there was no way to verify their claims.

Otto ('Pop') Carter, who was born behind the stage where his parents did
a dance act, in San Antonio, Texas in 1856, celebrated his 107th at the
Gardena roller-skating rink where he worked. His parents were
entertainers--toe-dancers. They did a vaudeville act as The Carter
Family. His mother lived to 109 and his father to 116. His mother's
father lived to 121. Otto and his wife (who died in 1943) and were

    were then 69 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 19
great-great-grandchildren. Otto, his wife and all their children toured
the United States and Europe doing a skating act. After vaudeville, they
toured rinks doing exhibitions. A lot of their act was acrobatic, like
barrel jumping. For eight years prior to 1963 Otto had a Job as skate

No disrespect intended but you need to take these extreme claimed ages with a grain of salt.
For example, only one person in history has been VERIFIED to live to at least 120 and she was the Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment.
Only one man has been VERIFIED to live to see his 116th birthday. He was a Japanese man who lived 116 years and 54 days.
The ages you give have almost certainly NOT been verified by the proper groups.

I don't know why you'd say that. Life expectancy is so much greater today. Many more people today live to 100 and live well. I'm glad I wasn't alive and an adult in the 50's because I'd definitely be dead at a younger age due to a hereditary condition I've been able to control. Now myself and other relatives, we are all living longer lives. I was close to death 8 years ago. I'm just fine now.

13:08 This man, Otto "Pop" Carter, was born BEFORE the United States Civil War! He was born in 1858 and the Civil War started in 1861. Imagine if during the civil war someone would have told this guy "Some day there will be a thing called TV, it's like a photograph, only it's animated and it's live and it's in everyone's houses and there will be TV shows and you will be on one of these shows and people all over America will be watching you at the same time. Also, the moving pictures of you will be saved, and in the year 2016, over 40 thousand people will watch you again, on a thing called the internet. Many of those viewers will be watching you while they are flying, driving or laying in bed on their telephones. Oh, also, there will be a guy who took an interest in you and looked up event that happened in the year of your birth, and other people read what he wrote about you and they thumbed up his comment and subscribed to him (hint hint, lol) and now you have a bit of immortality Bob.
These are some of the things that happened in the year he was born; Minnesota became the 32nd U.S. state, Dallas became a city (incorporated) in Texas, the Treaty of Paris is signed which ended the Crimean War, Lawrence, Kansas is captured and burned by pro-slavery forces, The Great Train Wreck (the worst railroad disaster in the world to date) occurs in Pennsylvania, Democrat James Buchanan becomes the 15th President of the United States defeating the new fledgling political party called "Republicans", Kate Warne, the first female private detective, begins to work for the Pinkerton Detective Agency, Sigmund Freud and Nikola Tesla are born along with Woodrow Wilson who will become the 28th President of the United States, and finally, the British Guiana 1 cent magenta postage stamp is issued. There is only one left and it happens to be the world's rarest stamp. I would have loved to have been able to speak with Pop and photograph him.
But when did Otto "Pop Carter die? I know he lived to be at least 106 however I can find no mention of his death anywhere.

I found some info on him on IMDb His mother lived to 109, father to 116, his mother's father to 121 !
will paste a little here from the site: (another site said he died at 107)
At age 104, participated in the Southwest Pacific Roller Skating Championships and the Rollerama Show in 1960.
An avid roller skater for approximately 100 years. He and his wife
were married on skates and later toured the country in a roller skating
      act
Guested on "You're Never Too Old", KLAC-TV, September 19, 1951. (Source: Variety, September 19, 1951.).
At age 104 appeared on The Red Rowe Show (CBS-TV, June 1960),
billed as the 'oldest living roller skater'. (Source: The Billboard,
July 4, 1960, p 47.).Otto ('Pop') Carter, who was born behind the stage where his parents did a dance act, in San Antonio, Texas in 1856, celebrated his 107th at the Gardena roller-skating rink where he worked. His parents were
entertainers--toe-dancers. They did a vaudeville act as The Carter
Family. His mother lived to 109 and his father to 116. His mother's
father lived to 121. Otto and his wife (who died in 1943) and were
married on roller skates in 1875 in Indianapolis. They had sixteen
children--nine boys and seven girls--with six sets of twins in the
bunch. As at 1963 they were all living 'so far as I knew', and there
      were then 69 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 19
great-great-grandchildren. Otto, his wife and all their children toured
the United States and Europe doing a skating act. After vaudeville, they
toured rinks doing exhibitions. A lot of their act was acrobatic, like
barrel jumping. For eight years prior to 1963 Otto had a Job as skate
checker at the Rollerama, 2040 W. Rosecrans Blvd in Gardena. He worked
six evenings and two afternoons a week.
