Now for me now that it is settled I really have no interest in Paul Lynn on the show the way I used to. He was just a delivery man. There's still a bit of confusion because the host here says that they didn't know the questions beforehand and yet gave Paul Lynn his comedic material. How does that go together? That's incoherent. You must know the questions beforehand plus the comedic material that goes along with it.
@@grosbeak6130 They could know what their comedic line was without knowing the setup line in advance. What made it work was his impeccable delivery. It's like a singer who can't write songs but can sing them no no one's business, or a sitcom actor (which he was) who can brilliantly recite his lines.
3:55 Buddy Hackett laughing at the Abraham Lincoln joke had me dying. Paul Lynde was so damn awesome.
I know right? I’m shocked he was still alive after that one.
His laughing alone made it even more hilarious!
Why? It WASN'T funny
@@BAKER22-l4u Oh.... I stand corrected. Thanks for setting me straight, BBAKER. You nutjob.
@@hansenfiet2539 And he wound up causing paul to bust up.
Peter: Paul, you're having trouble sleeping. Are you a man, or a woman?
Paul: Well, what do you think has been keeping me up at night?
There will NEVER be another game show like the ole Hollywood Squares and Paul Lynde was KING!!
Queen
My dad and I watched this every night. Thanks for the memories 😊
Some of the happiest memories of my childhood: watching the show with my mother when we were out of school on holidays or summer break. She got such absolute joy out of Paul just made me happy to be there when she was so happy.
So sorry that your mom was a single mother.
I’m so happy to see this, since I was a kid watching with my grandma the first time. Now I get it!
Thanx, he was the only center square and the main reason I watched the show as a kid.
Now that I'm old, I understood everything he said!
My favorite wasn't included: "what are you doing when you have 16 colored balls on a green table?" "Having a really fun time"
Oh, Paul and his ❤️ for 🏀⚽️🏐⚾️🏈
😂😂😂😂😂
❤ ❤❤
“Paul, how do you make a frog croak?”
“You hold its little head under water.”
Absolutely hysterical.
They should make a movie of this man's life. Comedic, tragic, sad and funny. Very well made video by the way.
Thanks!
who would play lynde
@@thewkovacs316 wow, that's a thinker.
@@thewkovacs316 Jason Alexander might be a good choice.
@@thewkovacs316 Sean Hayes
His laugh after he delivers his line is pure gold.
His answers were scripted.
Talking about the government, Shaky and PSH with his tongue in 2024, nothing has changed there!
@@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hcdidn't say anything about the answers.
Still makes me laugh to this day. He's timeless, quick, and so charming which only adds to his comedic genius.
You could see the Wheels spinning as soon as the question was asked...then would come the Zinger...🙂
I watched this as a child and it went completely over my head 🤣
Me too, now falling off my chair laughing.
Me, too, but seeing my parents and grandparents lose their minds laughing was entertaining as hell! We all loved Paul and I’ll never forget how sad we all were when we found out he passed, he was total joy
Same!
Ditto. But I remember my Daddy busting a gut…….
Thats how he got away with it.
I used to turn on the TV at 11:30 every day during summer holidays, just for Paul Lynde's answers. He never disappointed. Post-Apocalyptic Malone, you did good.
Aw shucks. Thanks. I’ve been a huge fan since childhood.
That quick wit! That delivery! No one else compares. Major contributor to the wild success of that show
“Oh, it was awful. Ranger Bob was dressed up like Joan Bennett.” Haha 😂
He was my favorite comedian when I was a kid - he still cracks me up! I miss him.
This man was hilarious 😂. Some of you may not know this, but Paul Lynde was the voice Templeton The Rat in Charlotte's Web.
I knew that. I've seen that movie a few times. I have the DVD of the live-action version from 2005. I read the book too, long before I saw either one of those films.
@@michaelpalmieri7335 , yup, it's true. If you watch the movie Charlotte's Web and you hear Templeton's voice, you'll hear Paul Lynde.
@@michaelpalmieri7335 , actually, the cartoon version of Charlotte's Web is what I meant.
@@melissawilliams2325
I know that's what you meant. I was just saying that I've seen both the animated and live-action versions (I have the latter one on DVD) of the story by E.B. White, which I read before I saw either one of those films.
If you are familiar with Paul's voice, there's no mistaking in that movie. Instantly recognizable.
R.I.P. Paul Lynde.6/13/1926-1/10/1982.He will be remembered but not forgotten.
I had forgotten how truly entertaining Paul Lynde was. Just my opinion, but gone are the best of the best. Paul Lynde was among the greatest - I never stopped smiling through all the clips.
Thank you, Mr. Lynde, for making me laugh throughout my childhood years! Loved that Hollywood Squares because of you, Sir!
Only a comedy genius can make such hilarious comebacks so quick. I adored
Paul Lynde.
He was so entertaining and witty. Thanks for the memories.
I was born 1 year after Paul passed and I remember enjoying his amazing sense of humor while watching re-runs of all of those old shows with my parents. But watching him on Hollywood Squares is undoubtedly the best memory I have of his incredible talents. A true example of A King Of The 1-Liners. Still extremely funny and relatable in 2022.
Couldn’t wait for summer when we could watch it every morning during the week. Brilliant comedy, the show never failed to deliver.
I can remember watching a lot of classic TV in the summer
@@hankkingsley9300 Only what I watched weren’t reruns, yes, I’m that old!
@@alanolson6913 I'm old enough to remember watching this in first run only had three channels
@@alanolson6913 no I saw this s*** first run your choices were NBC ABC if you were lucky CBS and then sometimes public broadcasting and some crap on we only had four damn channels in my day and that's how we'd like it were happy then
@@hankkingsley9300 I grew up in Southern California so we had a wider range of channels: 2,4,5,7,9,11 & 13. Channel 2 was CBS, 4 was NBC and 7 was ABC. The others were local.
Woman overboard! Full speed ahead! Had me crying.
There will never be another Paul Lynde.
This is heaven... Including the "sponsors" moment... Loved him as a kid... This made my day!
Paul Lynde used to crack me up back in the day! This guy was so funny. And I loved the retro-commercials at the end. I completely forgot about "Amana"!
Couldn’t be more funny. Paul was a real superstar with pure talent.
A little peek into US television in the 70s. Thank you x
Television was so much better in the 70's.
Also the greatest decade for music...
singer songwriters and Linda Ronstadt and John Denver❤❤
OMG, the 70s are not a time to look back to for fashion, unless it's to remember what not to do.
My favorite Paul Lynd quip ever on Hollywood Squares was,
Peter, "What are two things you should never do in the bedroom??"
Paul, "Point and laugh."
😂😂🤣
I actually REMEMBER him saying that one!!!! And I understood, even though I was a very sheltered pre-teen at the time.
He was the master at one-liners
Paul Lynde was my favorite celebrity. He was quick witted and funny as hell. He was my favorite character on Bewitched. Aside Elizabeth Montgomery who I had a major crush on.
Both singers, Steve Lawrence & Frankie (Joseph Lisbona) Randall recorded the "Bewitched" theme song for this Very popular ABC TV Series
Paul Lynde was one of the funniest comedians of all time!!
Paul Lynde was the king of comedy. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
Back when we didn't give a Shatner about flaming
