    Do you think this video will help me with the ladies?

    Thank you I have a very old machine craftsman and the nail cable will not turn off. I tried yesterday to fix it has kicked the bucket. It runs good.
    Just need to make this kill switch. Question instead of removing the original wire could I use that wire and attach to the new wire to switch

    Mr. Dads, can I just leave to ground wire where it is in coil and connect my new wire to it. And use connectors all the way up to switch

    Thanks for sharing your information but I would like some advice if you can. I tried two different style of switches and Switch style (1) didn't work, Switch style (2) worked so please read on and please tell me why as I don't understand :) .
    My kill switch cable seized/broke so I decided to bypass it as per your video.
    Switch Style (1) I had an extra illuminated toggle switch, 12V/20amp and wired it up as per your directions, however it didn't turn the mower off. I placed the toggle to the "ON" position and the mower won't start, as expected, then I moved the toggle to "OFF" and the mower started and ran perfectly, as expected. However, when I flipped the toggle to "ON" to turn engine off, the mower kept running without a hiccup. I removed the connector from the "+" terminal, grounded it to the handle and the mower turned off. I tried a second identical switch with the identical results. :( Time to try another style of switch.
    Switch Style (2) I had an old Push On/Push Off little button switch from a disassembled aquarium light (I just disassembled it last week - lucky me) and decided to try it. I installed it using the same wiring as the other switch and it works like a charm!!!!!
    Scratching my head here not understanding why the first switched did not work? With the first switch I thought maybe the ground was not properly connected but it obviously worked with the second switch. Any insight/input from anybody would be appreciated. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge on the subject. :)

    "That hook is going to give you hell" sounds about right!
    also would the engine flood or no?

      I have never had a problem with the engine flooding, If I need to tip the engine over I always make sure the air filter is pointing up. Thanks for watching.

    We know how big a problem it is with these small engines STARTING without being turned over....SAD.

    So this works because you are removing the fixed ground from the block and relocating it to a ground on the handle to a intermittent ground right? I have a Troy bilt mower I am wanting to do this with and still learning how to work on small engines

      Yes, if it's a Briggs the ground is most likely part of the brake pad assembly located on the back on the engine. If it's a Honda, its most likely a stop switch "spring loaded". The best way to look at it is in color. There're 2 tabs/prongs on your toggle switch, make one wire RED and hook that up to the coil, make the other wire BLACK and make that your ground, just make sure it's on an unpainted surface and or bare metal. Since were just completing a circuit, it's really doesn't matter what the colors are, but this gives you a better visual when trying to install. I recommend using this switch it has held up for a few years now. thanks for watching.

      Nice! that features an old Briggs "L-Head" engine, if you decide to bypass the control bail completely you might need to remove the flywheel brake pad spring and zip tie the brake pad away from the flywheel or remove the brake pad assembly entirely.

    Is it possible to disconnect the spring at the brake...and manually moving the lever on and off?

    • @dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982
      @dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes

    • @thethirstymoose
      @thethirstymoose 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So disconnecting the spring..and moving the lever manually..you would not need to install a kill switch...as you could move the handle back to turn the motor off

    • @dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982
      @dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the brake pad and lever is also the ground. This applies to B&S OHV engines and most small engines.

      @@dadsworkshopbykipplabrie7982 I appreciate your help..I replaced an older briggs quantum engine onto my billygoat vacuum which ran on the throttle control..this engine is different, but this is what was recommended, this won't run on a throttle cable, because it doesn't have a handle to pull the throttle cable..this is why I need to try a different approach..so I want to disconnect the brake spring..and just run it manually
