I just had to sign in to my profile. Then I went through these steps if the initial set up doesn't work. Otherwise, this was a better solution than most have on here. Thumbs Up.
Hey thanks for the solid info, Joe. I love keeping these older systems connected and up-to-date. Good times they were, running Netflix from my old DVD player (and xbox360).
I ended up using a dual band wifi extender that another youtuber recommended to me. So the extender connects to the router and my X360 connects to the extender. It works wired no problem, but my router and where the X360 is in different parts of the house so I needed a wireless solution. A dual band wifi extender runs between $15-$20 on Amazon. The one I have is really old Netgear version, but runs without any issues.
@@JoeRetroWorld It's a X360 slim Trinity model 1439. The wifi extend is a Netgear EX6100, but really any dual band extender should work as mine is really old that I picked up at a flea market. The problem isn't with the X360's wifi, it is with the routers that the ISP give you that doesn't allow for the 2Ghz connections despite what they advertise. You could do the same thing by daisy chaining your own router to the ISP router and connecting to your own router, but a cheap wifi extender makes it much easier.
I’m going to be honest I have a T-Mobile 5G network and I don’t have to put in the whole ssid name and everything i just put in the Wi-Fi password and it will go through the first phase, and then back out onto the menu dashboard, and you just sign into your Xbox account if you have one and you’re connected
So after messing with my console, modem, and router for hours... all I had to do was sign in to xbox live with my account, didn't have to test the network.. and it worked.
I have an xbox 360 S model and I cant connect to my Xfinity wifi. Put the right password in and everything and still wont go through. However when I connected my 360 to my mobile hotspot it worked like a charm.
The signal must not be compatible with the xbox360 wifi receiver. Sorry for taking long to answer back. You can check with your provider to see what frequency the router sends out.
I still can't get Mine to connect to my router and it looks like I have the same spectrum router as you so I'm pretty sure it's because I don't have a wifi adapter on my console but I can see you do. What model adapter do you have connected?!
I use this one. Have you tried using just the internet cable? www.ebay.com/itm/176112518024?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=83CmFOomTqu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=rwRG_CrBTjq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Hi, i don’t know if you can help me, i use a 5g/2.4g wifi, when i try to connect my 360 only appears the 2.4 option, but when i try to connect to it it doesn’t even connect to the router (in the router, wifi, and xbox live order)
Im resurrecting my xbox 360 and dusting off some games, mostly fallout new Vegas. I have the 360 elite. I dont have a wifi adapter. I havent had an xbox live account in forever. What does the wifi adapter let me do that i cant already do? Can i watch TH-cam?
I'm like a room away from my router, which looks the same as yours, but uh Do I literally *have* to buy a long cable just to play my downloaded games? Also, mine connects to the router just fine, but then fails to connect to the internet, but I can download system updates just fine as long as I've tried and failed to connect to the internet. I think my console's lying to me. 🤣
I have the same internet and I could not get mine to connect no matter what security option I chose. Everything spelled correctly. It works connected with a wire.
No it isn’t at least the actual servers for live are up you can download any games you owned and dlc you need Xbox live gold to play online for games that still have servers up and you’d be kinda surprised how many are. I played crackdown 2 a couple weeks ago and found a game with 1 guy playing by himself played with him for a bit lmao

It won’t even let me sign in. I’m convinced only thing that will fix it is if I connect a Ethernet cable to my 360 straight from the wifi

Are you trying a manual or automatic search of the wireless signal?
@@JoeRetroWorld i’ve tried both, and it doesn’t surpass the router part

does it make a difference if i have a custom name and password? it still wont work for me
No, that should not matter. Have you tried connecting with a cable to see if the signal is at least compatible.

what worked for me was instead of doing the connection test, i just tried to login on xbox live on the home page after connecting to router
