Hey all, sorry for the mediocre audio, the next door neighbour was doing yardwork and the noise reduction software had a fit trying to filter out the engine noises! In any case, the rules in short: 1. Cover the basics, 1 HQ and 2 troops; 2. Unit killers: anti-tank and anti-infantry; 3. As points go up, you need more scoring units; 4. Counter all threats; 5. Never underestimate fliers; 6. Don’t blow your load on Lords of War; 7. Don’t rely on your death star; 8. Vary your units; 9. Don’t take a Rite of War just for one unit.
What your thoughts using the "standard" dreads instead contemptor? I did got 4 venearble dreads in mini exchange with one guy and I have been converting them for my WE 30k army project. I was planning to run 3 as one elite choice with maybe one with plasma cannon and 2 with inferno cannons, all with 2 hunter killer missiles and last one as mortis with double lascannons and 2 missiles. Rest of army is large units of tacticals, preator on jetbike, some jetbikes, destroyers, mortis or what's that dual pistol wielder character and apotecharies. And using option for apotecharies to make some of those tacticals even crazier...
I enjoy your videos, Valrak is like a hamster in a cat of red bull. Your videos are mellow, calm, soothing even. It's just good hobby music, very destressing, after a fire call.. it's worth staying up till the next shift.
10. Always take a Contemptor. When is the next book review video with Sevatar planned and can you show us how you cast your own components? Great video as always.
Had to keep rewinding the video to hear what you were saying because I distracted by those incredible white scars! I had no interest in White Scars until I saw the models from the weekender, and some of you models painted up. They’ve really grown on me.
I really enjoy this style of video, I’ve been trying to get into Heresy for a loooonnngg time and it’s good to hear these things then try and piece it together with just reading tactics online. I have a question though, would you recommend auto cannons for heavy support squads? I feel like at lower level games it would seem that they would be a good choice to destroy any and all light armour tanks like rhinos and meq’s that they come across, their high rate of fire helping to do so with even longer range.
Are the rapier graviton cannons considered cheesy? For my alpha legion I want to infiltrate them and form a forward battery type thing and have them supported with infantry but idk if they are op or not
Hey man, love your videos. Not sure if this is an appropriate place to make the request, but I’m not sure where else to go to ask. One thing I’d love to see is a video on how you would build a Legion Praetor, based on each Legion. For example, how would you build an Iron Warriors Praetor/Warsmith versus how you would build a Dark Angels Praetor. Just a thought on one video I’d like to see, take it or leave it, keep them coming!
I think about starting to play Horus Heresy in the future. I decided to build IH army around fluffy and cool looking models. The goal is the 3k points list. Would you (or any of you guys!) like to take a look at my list and tell me what would be a nice and usefull unit to add to reach 3k points (412 points to spend). I was thinking about second sicaran (venator? Arcus?), primaris lightning, graviton rapiers or quizing somehow typhon. Or maybe something different (again, i have never played before)?: Autek Mor, Orth, 2x10 tactical in rhino, 10 gorgon termies in spartan, 10 volkite medusan immortals in LR phobos, 2 vindicators with DC, 1 sicaran
A Land Raider Achillies-Alpha is a must have in Iron Hands I recently discovered, the Arcus is the best Sicaran as it can kill literally everything, other than that, the rest is all fine as options.
I am in the middle of doing a army list for a solar auxilia/ allied militia list, going to be playing my friends iron warriors. any unit suggestions for a 1500 point match up? and thanks for the vid does help.
A mix of units is key, the flamers are good in a transport and thrown down the enemy throat, the Infernus is brutal as hell. Tanks are always best in numbers, such as Leman Russ Squadrons, apothecaries(medics) in the units greatly enhance their survivability, and the Dracosan is an amazing dedicated transport.
@@TheOuterCircle cheers mate, I will defo throw in a few leman russ tanks and maybe even take my Malcador (favourite tank). and lucky for me I do have my solars medics that i can place in the Lasrifle Sections. I will try and keep the horde down with the militia but i do want to see if muskets can kill space marines. As for Transports, the flamers got me thinking Arvus Lighter with some sort of combo unit inside.
@@skunk12 At the moment i just play with a friend and not really competetively. We haven´t painted up much of our stuff, but enjoy to rush our primarchs at each other.
So, how does your Rite of War rule work with something like the Alpha Legion's Coils of the Hydra, which is specifically to grab one unit from another legion?
The ability to take another legion special unit is benefit of that RoW. And if your not careful with your unit choices it can force you into choosing infiltrate as you mutable tactic
@@dopeskone I am aware of that limitation and did plan around it for my current list. If the Inflitrate special rule is the same as 7th edition 40k, then I am also completely aware of how to use it properly.
I take 3 squads of 15 and an apo in each. Backed by Dreadnaughts, Termis and Tanks. That way you allways have your 6+ 5+ against all but S 10 Weapons. Take a Parvase on a Deredeo if you feel like they need even more tankiness.
I think the Deredeo might be the better starting dreadnought than the contemptor with 3 shooty options plus the missile launcher and he can kick the side of a landraider in just as well ass a contemptor can (unless you go chain fist) since he's still rolling 2d6 pen.
Isn't the deredeo only str6 like most contemptors? I use mortis dreads in my list. And they both if these units suffer from the narrow front fire arc. A good opponent won't place the unit an a way that allows you to not move and declare the rule. Or they may bait you into exposing the rear armor.
@@dopeskone yeah, only strength six hell struggle a big with a landraider but if your down to kicking a landraider with the deredeo things have gone pretty bad. If you magnetize the arms you can switch out based on the enemy your fighting and the missile launcher is 360. He's not perfect by any means but he's a good all arounder and his multiple capacities help with having redundancy in dealing with different unit types plus its great model and doesn't get enough love IMHO
Der Speigel I love the deredeo, amazing model, but you do not want it in CC, you want it vaporising marines, or blowing fliers out of the sky, that's it's job. It's comparable to a contemptor in terms of AV and points are close before upgrades, but that's it. Contemptors have way more options for loadout for destroying tanks in CC, deredeo has none. Plus, iirc, deredeo hasn't got 2d6 armour pen. Coupled with the fact that CC rigged contemptors are usually WS 5 vs deredeo WS 4, and base contemptor is 3A vs deredeo 1A, it's not even a contest
@@bradintazz no you should aim to get him in cc that would be dumb his whole point is shooting but if he has to it will most likely hurt something. Why would he not roll 2d6, dreadnought ccw just doubles strength.
To be fair, he's already made many videos on both GW price-gouging and chinaforge, even if it's a huge issue in the community there's only so much to say. And I imagine American and UK viewers may become a bit annoyed on the constant harping on the issue that affects us a lot more than them (even if it is 100% warranted).

Rule No. 10: Rule of cool. If you like a model, take it, no matter the effectiveness. ;)
