Good job Macca, Maybe could have mentioned that if you try and run leviathan list all the time people will shun you and possibly set you on fire. Otherwise, clear and concise, It'd be nice if GW were always this easy to understand.
Luckily even though the older books are out of date for rules and lists, the fluff is still pretty much unchanged. And that is 90% of the reason I try to get them as often as I can. Plus the artwork is awesome in the older ones.
Well, technically, but the way detachment works in 30k is that you have a main army list and the supplements to that are the detachments. These may be allies, fortifications, Lords of War, or a combination of all of those.
It's a solid unit, but a bit hefty on the points. It's ok for survivabilty, and is good at thumping rhino chassis vehicles as it hits their rear armour at Strength 6.
Alright Macca making the jump from 40k to 30k thousand sons just bought the burning of prospero box and ordered the inferno book, what would you recommend to add from FW for just starting a 30k thousand sons list ? lol and im not just jumping on the band wagon had a thousand sons army since 3rd edition
Troops is where it's at. I find that Rhinos are worth their weight in gold, but you probably want to make some terminators/legion specific ones. Recon Squads are a solid choice, and I personally like Tactical Support Squads and Heavy Support Squads to flesh out my infantry. When it comes to armour, it's al good!
The Legions, aka marines, are all superbly balanced against one another. Solar Auxilia are quite underpriced often getting the exact same equipment or units with equal stats for cheaper. Militia are fine but can be deliberately broken. Imperial Knights are more balanced than 40k, with some slight price increases but also some new rules. Mechanicum is where it gets iffy, because they are both balanced and overpowered if you kit out units and characters in just such a way. Anarchis Scoria the Dark Mechanicum special character is also the most powerful beatstick in 40k or 30k outside of Magnus the Red.
A new/updated version of this would be extra awesome ❤

Torches and pitchforks are mandatory in 30k with power gamers.
The Outer Circle torches and pitchforks?
I say go full NightHaunter!!
Latest Scrubdown is up in around an hours' time, I'd say go there hahaha

Yeah yeah, the volume is a bit low. Sorry. Cat will pay a penance for thee.
Question: Can you run multiple detachments? Like 3 detachments in a 2000 point list?

so overall how do you feel the balance and lists compare 40k vs 30k?
