I had the exact same problem. There was a small oil leak because of that gasket. I found the gasket online for $25 and replaced it. Problem solved. Thank you for the video. I followed exactly what you did and replaced it myself. Talk about saving me an arm load of cash.

This is exactly what’s happening with my Abarth! I’ll try this, hopefully it takes care of it! Thank you!

Have to do this on my 1750 TBi as well. Little bit of oil sweating underneath vacuum pump. Already replaced valve cover gasket, now the vacuum pump gasket and then she should be leak free. Thanks for your video, very well explained.

Thank you for this helpful video. I just bought a 2015 Fiat 500 Pop that’s high mileage but in great shape and it’s spitting oil out from under the vacuum pump, I just ordered the gasket and will get it replaced soon. I did all the breather/PCV work last weekend but that didn’t stop the oil drip & burning smell. No online Fiat engine diagrams even mention this vacuum pump so your help is really appreciated!

It’s probably the vacuum pump that needs replaced because you could have a leak and still have the system operating properly. I found that out on my car. th-cam.com/video/KXzcOgVqtNs/w-d-xo.html

@@fiatofgreenville Thanks, I’d say that’s more likely too. I’ll just order the entire new pump. Any suggestions on brand or retailer? I have a 2015 Pop 1.4L standard, I see a Pierburg vacuum pump fits from Partsgeek.

Thanks Jason for the comment. Yes you could try the gasket first but it’s possible that you may just have to replace the pump especially if you’re getting oil vapors in the intake system. On my car initially suspected the catalytic converter was going bad but it was because of oil vapor blow by getting into the intake system. If you watch my 2nd video on the vacuum pump autopsy you’ll see how it’s made. These vacuum pumps are always turning and they can wear out.

Hello, I followed this video for the o-ring and vacuum pump gasket replacement. Oil still leaks, a bit less than before, from the bottom of the vacuum pump. Would this means most likely the pump is bad? Maybe some internal seal in the pump?
    Great video!
    Thanks in advance.

FCA sells the PCV valve assembly altogether but the key part is the item that screws into the housing and has a hose attached.
If you take out the old one and take it to an auto parts store they might be able to match it up and then you won’t have to buy the entire assembly. Make sure the gasket is good at the bottom of the assembly usually you can clean them up.

just took out the battery of my 15' Abarth to check for leaks. I found that the three torx bolts on the pump were completely stripped. I'm assuming previous owner attempted to change either the head gasket and/or the pump as it appeared to leak right by the vacuum pump.

Question: on my 5 speed 2013 Abarth, there’s a clicking that comes from the brake pedal when I press it or depress it. Also feels like there’s a step in the brake pedal movement. The clicking is audible and can be felt with the foot. Car brakes fine but it’s annoying! Any idea what this could be? The brake switch maybe? Thank you.

Will be changing the pump and gasket in a few on my ‘15 Abarth
    Fingers crossed 🤞

Jeep renegade 1.4t same problem - oil leak in the left side. It's a pain in the ass to remove that braket as there is an intercooler line there 😅

I noticed the gasket has a metal sound to it. Would I be able to just use regular gasket maker material and make it myself? I really need to do this this weekend and don’t have time to wait for it to come since next week is the soonest

Fiat uses an Aisen brand Japanese made automatic transmission for the 1.4 500 models. The transmission is supposed to be sealed for life but of course he may be just getting a little bit of a leak. It takes a couple of quarts of fluid to refill but please check the exact specs first.... it has a drain plug into add plug but no way to really measure the level like a dipstick. Typically if the oil drains out of the top of the fill plug hole it’s full. You can buy the fluid at any Fiat dealer or aftermarket. Just remember on any transmission if you drain the fluid only fill it to the amount that you’ve drained out. Sometimes the transmission will hold a significant amount of fluid and it will not 100% drain.

If the 500 X uses the 1.4 engine would probably have the exact same vacuum pump but always use your Vin number to order a replacement part. Most of the 500 X cars sold in America were the 2.4 L four-cylinder. Only the base models used the 1.4 turbo with manual transmission. And that was only for a short time.

Question for same model but automatic what is the most common reasons tranny fluid leaks? I notice a small leak at the bottom not to bad but by the color and area i can tell is tranny fluid. Thanks in advanced for the feedback.

You can try but since the 1.4 engine is in many Chrysler brand cars you should be able to find one easily.

It’s going to be a little oily but I wouldn’t worry about it too much just make sure that the gasket is flat and you tighten to 15 foot pounds

Hello. First of all, thanks for the video. I have the same problem in my Punto 1.4 turbo Multiair, but definetlly I'll need to replace the vaccum pump since replacing the gasket was not enough. Can you share the vaccum pump part number? I've been having trouble to get the correct one since apparently there are different part numbers for each version of the Fiat 1.4 engines. As I said, mine is a turbo Multiair. Here more details hoping you may have a chance to help me:
    VIN: ZFADB3281D0916375
    No. Per Ricambi: 0915972
    Version: 199AXW1A 45C
    Thanks a lot!

When I shopped at the dealer price was the same as the Internet price so I bought it from Benson Fiat. You could call Reid at 864-655-6134 and order it but if you can stay with the Mopar brand it probably would be wise.
