      He can be good only second half of the season and that is only if he plays continuously to return to his form. I doubt coach will gamble with that, he will probably see little no minutes in upcoming season. Depends on the injury status of the other players, he will for sure be there as a replacement.

    Honestly, the Nuggets are still the team to beat in the West (provided that Murray actually plays well in the playoffs). There is a significantly better bench (solving the primary issues past years bench had, being not a good backup PG or C) behind a starting lineup that is a top 5 starting squad in the league. People are overreacting to KCP leaving. Yes, he is an amazing defender and floor spacer who will be missed, but Braun is a better defender than people think, and his 3 pointer has been getting better this past year, and it’s not like we lost a top option. KCP was a luxury, one that the nuggets can live without, especially with significantly improved depth and growth from another floorspacer in Strawther

      Injuries really sucks. Just imagine if Vlatko Cancar and DaRon Holmes never got injured. Cancar was looking very comfortable playing with the bench before the injury. Holmes provide so much much value as a stretch big who can also protect the rim. The only good that comes out of his injury is that he's only a rookie. And Malone won't be inclined to play a rookie much unless he showed out and clearly beat Zeke, Vlatko, or Saric in the rotation. With Holmes out of the season, the team can focus on the other bench players and spend a bit less time experimenting with the frontcourt lineups. My biggest worries about Cancar and Holmes are the athleticism. Cancar was actually a very good athlete with sneaky athleticism, but after the injury he may not have the same pop or foot speed as he once did. Same goes for Holmes. He may never be the same athletically wise after the Achilles injury. Just hope that both can return healthy and contribute meaningfully to the bench.

    Don’t be surprised to see a Russ Murray MPJ AG Jokic lineup. The great thing Russ can do is play the 1,3,4 and depending who’s in the 5. AG can slip out to the 3pt and take the bigger guy with him and Russ goes to the dunker spot opening the lane even more for Jokic. They will definitely use that lineup to see if it works maybe not to start the games.

    They still need a backcourt dead-eye shooter off the bench, preferably one who can guard smaller guards, a tiny shooter/3&D point guard. Ironically, Bones Hyland would fit perfectly with Westbrook, Watson, and Saric off their bench.

      @@LILMCG -- They need a shooter who can guard PGs, not just "a shooter".
      I said this already, but apparently you're not keeping up/comprehending.
      Westbrook, at this stage of his career, a utility guy. He's a rebounder, passer, change of pace, hustle guy. He's also a good defender now, too, but he can't defend small, speedy guards anymore. He's better guarding Tatum or LeBron James than Ja Morant or Garland.
      I like their bench. I just think they lack point guard defense and shooting, so if you want to truly empower your players, the Nuggets would be best served filling those two needs in their rotation with one guy who provides what they lack. Bones Hyland is but a mere prototype (I know he's not returning to Denver).
      Any small shooting guard who can stroke it and check average NBA point guards will do.
      With Denver's financial situation, this guy will probably have to come via the vet minimum.

    I'd like to preface this doomer post by saying i still very much so believe were a title contender, last season, the only reason we werent minimum in the finals was because three volume 40% 3 point shooters shot in the low 30s on WIDE open 3s. That being said, so much of this off-season depends on how our 2nd and 3rd year players develop. Braun is a really good defender, but his screen navigation is nowhere near as good as KCP's. And sure, offensively, Braun only averaged 3 fewer points than KCP in 11 minutes less, so he should be able to bridge that gap, but he would need to at LEAST double his 3 point volume while maintaining 38% or ideally higher for the offense to flow smoothly and give Jokic and Jamal space to run the two man game. As for our bench, Pickett, Tyson, Zeke and DJ are damn near unplayable even in low leverage games, Holmes is not only a rookie, he's injured for the hear, Vlatko is a solid glue piece, but he’s also coming off an ACL injury as a player who already wasn’t elite. So that leaves us with Pwat, a defensive monster, yes, and someone who I believe will come along offensively, but could take longer to develop on that end, Strawther, a guy with a lot of offensive potential, but again, is a 2nd year player who missed big chunks of his rookie year, and finally Saric, who is decent enough, but anyone who has watched him over the years knows he is NOT a 5, but will be forced to play that position regardless. As far as Russ, i think he will be a big upgrade from Reggie, and hopefully he can make our bench good enough that our main guys make it to the playoffs rested, but Russ is russ and always will be russ, he's volatile. Also, now that i think of it, Trey alexander will be a good backup pg in the coming years, but again, relying on rookies, sophmores, and 3rd year players on a playoff team is NOT ideal

Look at what all of the teams that were as good as us last year in the west have done and then look at what we have done. Saric will give Jokic rest in the playoffs, something he did not have this year cause DAJ was his backup. Cancar is better than Holmes as of right now and hes back from injury all last year. Westbrook is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Reggie. Much better playmaker, much better effort, much better defense. Nuggets needed a ball handler on the 2nd unit and Reggie just dribbled the air out the ball only to brick shots. He was garbage in every other aspect as well. Yeah Reggie is a mediocre three-point shooter and he has that over Russ, but Russ brings substantial effort and hustle plays (which is what Denver's been yearning for since the departure of Bruce), Brings rim-pressure as one of the most athletic guards in the league, and great defensive instincts and perimeter defense which is another area Denver could improve after losing their premier defender KCP. Statistically, Reggie Jackson was a negative in literally all situations and he got benched by Mike Malone because he isnt a dependable Point Guard, even off the bench.

    Lakers Fan here, this question is for Nuggets Fans but anyone can answer. If this was Russ next season what would you think? Off the bench 10 points, 5 Assists, 6 Rebounds. 4 or less turnovers and plays about 70 plus games.

      @HumanStatSheet หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Depends on the efficiency. If he’s shooting 50/40/80 I’d take that in a heartbeat. 40/30/70 and we’re discussing options.

      That would be incredible lol. Our bench has been league worst. We haven’t had anyone to create an offensive identity off the bench. We have needed someone that goes HARD and will jazz our young guys and give them confidence. Russ wants a ring. He’s going to do what’s needed, I can feel it

      10 points to 4 turnovers isn’t ideal. I’d be okay with that turnover number with 12-13 a game

    Westbrick is gonna turn the Nuggets into a play in team. They have still found no counter to the T Wolves who are only getting better😂

      still have no counter to the Wolves? Buddy they went to game 7 and were leading by 20 in the 3rd Q all while Murray was playing injured the entire playoffs, including the Wolves series where he shot FAAARRRRR below his averages at 40/33 splits. If Murray isn't injured Nuggets beat them in 5-6 games.

    • @OwenHooper-mv4fm
      @OwenHooper-mv4fm หลายเดือนก่อน

      We gotta try and avoid them in the playoffs. I think we beat every team in the NBA except the wolves. Tim Connelly created that team to beat us. Then OKC gonna be wild

      @the-truth-unveiled หลายเดือนก่อน

      @dontAtMe69420 I somewhat agree about the injury thing. But them blowing up a 20 pt lead in G7 vs the Wolves only proves my point. If having a huge lead in pts and then blowing it up is good then the Lakers would be considered better than the Nuggets considering how many leads they blew up in their losses to the Nuggets.

      @sparkinllama9030 Don't compare Reggie Jackson to current Westbrick lol. You're embarrassing Reggie with that comparison. He made his team better while Westbrick makes the team worse. Not to mention he completely becomes trash in the playoffs even for a bench player.

      I think that will be an option "if" Braun struggles as a full time starter.
      Coach Malone is a pretty loyal head coach so Braun will get a very long rope, but it's nice to have the optionality Russ provides.
      Personally i think Russ is better as an on the ball point guard and 30-32 min starter but that will be up to Coach Malone.
      Since the players in the reserve unit are usually your least efficient players, i am not a fan of pairing them with a high volume/low efficiency scorer.
      This typically leads to the reserve unit having a negative net margin.
      Typically too many empty offensive possessions.
      I think using staggered minutes, it's Murray who should be starting at SG and first subbed out for rest, so he can come back in and lead the reserve unit as the backup pg.
      While Jokic and Russ are on the floor, Braun can come in and be the backup SG, probably a better role for him at this point in his young career.
      In my view Russ should almost always be on the floor with Jokic, Gordon, and MPJ....for efficiency purposes.
      Piling inefficiency on top of inefficiency doesn't really make a lot of sense. The only way that "can" work, is if that inefficient group, is "elite" defensively.
