Bro, I think you're not jaded but inspirational. I've been unemployed for half a year and I feel like I have lots of bad days these days, more than before, and often I feel like living is just punishment and everything works against me. Jaded people have no energy to make TH-cam videos so I think you're not too jaded. I struggle to keep myself motivated when I'm the only one who gives a s*** or holds myself accountable. It sucks when you feel like you're all alone in job search and you're the only person who cares about your future.
In tech, it's necessary to love the craft and enjoy being able to steer your skill set while on temporary retirement. Building your portfolio is building your long term career. I have been out 16 months.
"70% are landing their dream jobs through networking" I hear crap like this all the time, but there are only one off anecdotes to support it. Calling BS. Way more than 70% of people just APPLY.
Job seekers with certain disabilities and who are house-bound most of the time (but not receiving disability benefits) can't do most of these things. I have a friend in that situation now.
It’s a hard market, you definitely need to do things differently these days. Networking and making content around what you do, is what’s going to level up your job hunting tree 🌲 Good luck on the hunt, if you need a pick me up I am here.
I been underemployed since 2022 and tired of corporate brownnosing. Working onmmy side hustle catering to my niche. Life is short. Give yourself the chance no one else will in whatever manner you are able to. Dont despise humble beginnings
Jaded? Sure - but making the transition from leading teams that make the software that makes airplanes fly to not being able to get a job at McDonalds (I'm currently on a waitlist), that's the least of the problems.
When the recession of 2008 hit, l Iost my job. It took me a year and a half to get a job. What saved me was my 💰 in my savings account. Don't just save 3 to 6 months of your salary, go beyond that threshold if possible. Right now, things are very uncertain going forward.
I got a job through Tinder. Told the girl I was transitioning between jobs - I was actually put on PIP and laid of. She referred me where I got a job with a pay bump. I invited her for drinks and that was it. Point of the story: people help those who they like. Try to be a bit more likeable
I wonder if your location is potentially holding you back not being in the U.S. for these jobs. Especially if they are hybrid or in office, companies may see your location as being out of area and not want to hire you for that reason. I know that the job market is brutal, but this could be another issue that you may be encountering. I've had to move to where the work was before and may have to do it again.
@@WesternBachelor ideally he should just not put his location on job apps and resumes. I never do. If they want an address on an online app I just put an old address that I don't actually live anymore. If you're willing to move to the city the jobs at then it really shouldn't matter.
@3:30 That's B/S - who knows if the role will be ANY good... you could spend 8 months looking for a job only to land a HORRIBLE job which is much more likely these days than a good one. Overly rosey assumptions from someone making their money writing useless articles that AI can do better,
Id just stay in Asia if I was you. At least for the next few years until us economy gets better. I'm still contemplating going back to asia. I lived in Japan and tw over seven years before.
That's my short term plan at least. I've cut my bills in half and get a lot more for the money. My savings will really stretch here. Japan is amazing. Haven't been to Taiwan yet. Thanks for the comment.

Are you from Finland?? Sorry to hear you have been going through that. Thank you for sharing.
Yes I think having “days off” from the search is important.
Yes, very important.

Good points. So you've been out so long!

Yea, i don't know about that either

Don't blame you.
The IT industry is working remote from India now. No more American IT jobs unless it’s government.
Seems that way.

Password suggestion works, keeps the suggestion in your head everyday..

I can't imagine being on a waitlist for a job at a fast food restaurant. Thanks for sharing.

Few Americans have 1 month of their gross pay saved.
Economy crashes 6 months after Mr Orange takes over and everything blamed on him.
Sorry to hear you went through that. Good thing you had a lot of savings. I had a lot saved when I got laid off as well
Or Teaching.
Networking is a long term investment. The irony, I gotten more referrals from discord or social media than from real life people
Nice. Probably less awkward too.
@@LaborGains How I see it is people are more real online than offline so it is easier to form a connection

I just stayed in Florida, wasting my money on high rent prices and that didn't get me anywhere.
I don't have my physical address on my resume.
Better do EE, Accounting or Healthcare or a Trade.
Thanks for the recommendations.
Job hunting is dead asf for reals

I think you should go back to finance.
