Well, it is a good game, but it doesn't have a lot of content. The base game gives you 8 planes, about 3 or 4 large maps, quick mission builder, campaign mode, multiplayer mode and missions. You can also drive tanks and have tank battles against players or against AI. There's a lot of controls, so I suggest looking at the key bindings before you play it, and set it to your liking. So far there is one major expansion pack that adds more content than the base game. It's called battle of Moscow, and it adds another 8 planes, more maps, a new campaign, and also a scripted campaign. If you just have the base game like I do, then you can fly the 8 planes that comes with the game and drive the tanks, but you can still choose DLC planes for the AI to fly and you can still play with players that has the DLC. You can even be a gunner in someone's DLC plane even if you don't own the DLC. There is a new DLC in development called Battle of Kuban that will add another 8 planes and missions and maps and stuff too. Basically, my advice is, if you have enough money to spend, and you are into highly realistic combat flight simulators, then this is the game for you. The planes feel like the real deal to fly. I haven't flown a real plane, but I'm pretty sure they handle like ww2 planes do in real life. If you are on a budget, but still love flight simulators like this one, you should wait for a sale.

OMG you are too much! Hope to put in my PC IL2 and playing some marvelous campaigns...but if I crash like you, well, depend where I land: into controlled territory I have a chance to continue, but in enemy territory..the war is end, and I become a POW.

Although I love realistic crashes I would kinda like to see a plane going at super fast speeds pulling a high G maneuver ripping its wings because I've never really seen that in IL2 and I imagine it might be cool because the wing will probably fold up realistic unlike in war thunder were they just go poof
I would say IL2 BoS crashes are realistic... to a point. I don't like how you can hit the ground at an acute angle but going at 200mph and maybe some parts break off. Crashes like that bury the aircraft into the dirt and the inertia crushes most if the aircraft into a mess of metal.

The answer is quite simply that aircraft don't always explode on impact with the ground. An aircraft is more likely to explode if it still possesses a large fuel supply and if it is on fire.
Half of these crashes do seem "faked" though... the dude was flying nearly always horizontally, with no change in elevation or azimuth. That naturally invites people to shoot you down.
When I made this video I had a gtx 560 ti 2gb, 8 gb ram, I5-3470 3.2 GHz, Windows 7 pro 64-bit. Now I get mostly 60 fps. I now have a Gtx 1070, 16GB ram and windows 10, but the same cpu. The game runs better, but not much, because it doesn't utilize your parts fully.
You can't, you have to sign in your account, and enter your activation code on the game's website in order to activate the game. After that, you can play the game without having to sign in. Also, Ubisoft is not the publisher of the IL-2 series anymore, so technically you don't give Ubisoft your email.
i guess il be getting a steam refund and acquiring a pirated version in that case money or personal information, they only get one or the other with me but not both
Fuel tanks exploded. There is a fuel tank right at the back of the pilot seat in some Bf 109 versions. The tail structure was probaly weak due to the enemy attacks.
I mean: if a plane touch ground with that angle, first it stucks in the terrain, second breaks in hundreds pieces... not telling about fuel explosions...

It's scripted, they appear according to how much bullet damage an area of the plane has taken.
