Heard them many times and still hear Marc sometimes at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis . Great group .Sad ending with Evan's but a great musician and then some. Few have moved me as he did
Hyslop65 Wow, incredible you can still see Mark play! He was one of my greatest influences in playing upright. His technique and style is always on point!
Absolutely beautiful!! I love his harmonic lushness and his melodic tastefulness. Check this recording of the same song Bill Evans Trio-"The Two Lonely People" from "Blue in Green: The Concert in Canada"
If you want to hear it this way, and I'm wondering if others notice and agree, listen to Bill's every effort to make a poorly-working piano sound tolerable. Even the bassist and drummer are working overtime in the effort. The seeming ease with which Evans can make a piano ring and sing is absent here. I'd add that this problem is nicely turned around by all as they give the tune a careful, more recognizable construnction. Comments?
Johnson comes on so strong here! But I like it, even if it's at Bill's expense. Seldom do we hear basses so well defined.I find this very touching. All cuts from this Italian session are very choice.
If you would like to know more about Bill Evans go to this URL th-cam.com/video/YqxaggKP2oA/w-d-xo.html It is a 27 minute video I presented with videos, recordings, interviews, and photographs
Thank you. This is a wonderful link and your memories of Bill Evans are both fascinating and insightful. Being English, I was obviously struck by Bill Evans' interest in Hardy and Blake. And having listened extensively to his music, I can see why those two creative geniuses would have been such a draw. I've no doubt that they in turn would have adored Bill Evans' brilliant, introspective compositions.
That's what poorly-treated hepatitis; wanton intravenous cocaine & other poor health choices can yield. It's amazing it seemed to erode his physical self and not terribly his musical self & spirit. At least for spells. It eventually took his life in what his friend Gene Lees called Evans’ death “the slowest suicide in history.”
Bill always changed the harmony to wholetone chords , that's what gives him his own sound
Marc Johnson, wow...
I know. He looks like he is 14.

Marc Johnson's melodies are unlike any of the other three... really cool
There's some good in youtube. This is it.
I hope I never meet anyone related to or even resembling these two dislikers. This is magic sprinkled on ivory.

Fantastic video! Amazing performers. Marc Johnson is excellent!
I feel sorry for myself for not being in the crowd on this night. What was I doing that was so important? Thanks for the upload.
I didn't know Marc Johnson got to play with Bill Evans....wow!
William L.
Yup. He was the bass player in Evan's last trio before he died.
And screw Eliane Elias for a living....
@@peterj.andros3996 can you shed some light?
If truth had a sound, it might sound like this
God and me, the two.

My only comment is that old bill’s fingers deserve 9ft concert grands wherever they go.

sorry?
I don't know about poorly-working. Definitely poorly-tuned, which is why it doesn't sing (unison's are out).
okay? :/
?
wow, the piano is so out of tune, poor Bill.
