I believe this is one of Bills last performances before his passing. You can see the signs of arthritis in Bill's hands. It was discussed in interviews that during his final years, he struggled with a lot of pain in his hands. Some say that contributed towards his addiction to drugs, which unfortunately led to his death. It's difficult to see him struggle through this performance. He played some rather large voicings in his chords and throughout his solos. I imagine that can put a lot of stress on your hands over the years. Nevertheless, Bill Evans will always be one of the greats!
I love Marc Johnson's bold, articulate and classically unapologetic bass lines! And the sound of that bass, Ohhhhhhhhhh 😱 sick.
The intro by itself is so rich and beautifully arranged. I love his intros in his last years! 💞
Yes, I love this intro...as the intro of my romance....in the.last years
Bill's more than jazz lounge music.. The master of pure piano jazz and harmony.. Bill Evans lives forever in us
