I teared up watching this and I’m not sure why. It’s so beautiful and happy sounding that a feeling of peace came over me. I felt God’s presence in the music. I’ve never heard of Oscar till today 7/30/21, and I’ll never forget Oscar from this day forward. Awe inspiring talent!
That’s lovely. He is beyond compare. Hope you enjoy exploring his music. Saw him live many times, when I was 13 first ( 1973) - so grateful to have seen him in his prime.
This is the ultimate love song. Oscar Peterson plays it with perfection. I never get tired of listening to it and all its versions. It fills my soul with total peace.
When I make my all time greatest list, Oscar is far and away Number 1 piano. And Ray Brown is there on bass, but Neils Pedersen is a very very close honorable mention. I never get tired of listening to this one. This is a definition!!!!!!!!
Some tunes are especially fun to play - when you're good at it. I haven't heard anyone play it better than Oscar Peterson. It's just a great big delight to listen to each Oscar Peterson recording of this tune.
I can't remember how many times I have watched this video but every time I do I cry like a baby. The performances are amazing even the melody of the song is amazing. There are few people about whom yon can say that they are the best in the world at what they do. But you can say it about Oscar and Ray and Neil Pedersen is not far behind. With our loss of Oscar and Ray I have tom say "If God was not a jazz fan before He is now.
Ray Brown who took piano lessons before he decided to be a bassist seems to be highly suited to sensing the most fitting chord improvs he plays with such acute timing. The tone of his bass compliments Oscar's playing better than that of Niels Pedersen whose gift is fingerwork that lends to his speed.
Talent beyond belief. I am certain that when I pass, if I'm worthy, I will hear this blessed gentleman defining pure jazz in paradise. Music frees the soul.. Let us all rise, together, and celebrate a realm that has no limits. Oscar is opening the door for us, right here.
All I can say is that NHØP had a right hand that a pretty decent Flamenco Guitarist would ha' been proud to own -and on a BASS! -That, taste, creativity and the need to be challenged. Who else would he play with but Oscar?!
Certainly my favorite O.P. Performance of all time, his solo on this one truly takes you to heaven & back to earth, it’s a musical masterpiece, purely saturated with Soul, been over 16 years since I first heard this & it’s my go to track, Whenever I feel thirsty for those feel good vibes... Yes Lawd!
This is one of those sublime delights a lifetime of music listening affords to anyone who's undertaken it. (& Peterson is more complex than his persona might suggest.)
I feel just about the same way as you do, though I think it's fair to say that it is Ray Brown who comes in second after Nhøp, and not the other way around.
Look, I'm going to say it in East Side Detroit Michigan language. This is the only brother on earth, that in layman terms, could walk-it exactly like he talk-it. He could make that them ivory keys, do some unheard of shit!
So the gods came out to play ...The Almighty Peterson , Demigod Pederson , Legend Brown ....This bass argument will hold for a long time as long as Jazz remains but that Neil Pederson.....boyyyyyy,....he is simply not human lol
Bass players are beautiful! Niels - what a solo! RIP my friend.

If there is any sort of afterlife, and I believe there is, Oscar is sitting there playing this song.
I'm sorry you hadn't heard of him until then but delighted that you have now! Awe-inspiring indeed. There is only one Oscar.
yesss…
That’s lovely. He is beyond compare. Hope you enjoy exploring his music. Saw him live many times, when I was 13 first ( 1973) - so grateful to have seen him in his prime.
BTW - that bass solo by NHOP is off the chart!!
When I feel sadness, I alway come back to listen his music. Then I get feel fully happy :D
best jazz pianist of our time. RIP dear Oscar, you are loved and missed.
You're absolutely right! And what I love the most about this video is Oscar's face while he's playing. It fills my heart with joy.
The manner in which NHOP looks at Mr. Peterson demonstrates his high admiration and respect. 🙏🙏
Nils is closely attending Oscar's left hand ... who was (in)famous for changing chords out of the sudden :)
This is the ultimate love song. Oscar Peterson plays it with perfection. I never get tired of listening to it and all its versions. It fills my soul with total peace.
Whoa...two of the best bassists of all time in one video
I KNOW! What a treat.
On top of that the pianist is not bad either.
When I make my all time greatest list, Oscar is far and away Number 1 piano. And Ray Brown is there on bass, but Neils Pedersen is a very very close honorable mention. I never get tired of listening to this one. This is a definition!!!!!!!!
Well Said! Absolutely lovely tune...
That ending was the most beautiful thing I've ever listened, Oscar was a giant, a true genious
He is literally, king of jazz pianism. Who can deny his magic.. just, just wonderful..
love Oscar Peterson!

Classic Takie
This is possibly the most brilliant version of You look good to me…..
Classic!

I simply Love it 💞

This is one of those sublime delights a lifetime of music listening affords to anyone who's undertaken it. (& Peterson is more complex than his persona might suggest.)
So wonderful😍love it 👏👏👏
Probably, one of the best 5 or 10 things that no one has ever done with a piano.
Bravo
I love this tune and Oscar Peterson is awesome!
This is so beautiful. Wow!
Toronto deliever two great pianists Glenn and Oscar.
Oscar had a good command of dynamics.RIP Oscar,Ray and Neils.
this is the most beatiful thing i have ever heard
gold. one of the best trio's ever.
This is most touching and really really amazing video. R.I.P Oscar.
makes me CRY with joy-
So much to learn from such a deep musical thinking!!!! + Always a lesson in good taste
I love Ray Brown, but when NHOP starts plucking those strings it just gets insane.. he makes the double bass look like a 010 wide- stringed guitar.
You look and sound good to me Oscar , I saw you in Newport and you were awesome !
Nice music👍👍👍👍
oh to see NHØP and Oscar perform together…
Maravilloso!

i love ray brown oscar peterson♡
Kocham Cię Pipko :)
The Master
I can't help but think about how badly the agreement to play with Neil must've went down for Ray Brown, lol
✨💙✨
i want ear this song in my home street
If you're ever going to have two bass players in a band at the same time you can't do better than Brown and Pedersen.
If God himself played the piano it couldn't sound any better than this.
wowowowowowow
@Rephrat Exuse me, Rephrat, but Montreal delivered O.P.
I feel just about the same way as you do, though I think it's fair to say that it is Ray Brown who comes in second after Nhøp, and not the other way around.

of course two bassists demand comparisons and evaluations; but each time I declare one better than the other - well, I feel really stupid.
So the gods came out to play ...The Almighty Peterson , Demigod Pederson , Legend Brown ....This bass argument will hold for a long time as long as Jazz remains but that Neil Pederson.....boyyyyyy,....he is simply not human lol
Good comments from you both (canterite). It just doesn't get any better than this eh?
