Love the sound Bill Evans developed in the 1970s! In my opinion, he was developing a new harmonic landscape or language that reflected his skillset in original composition such as "Sugar Plum" above. Had he lived longer, he would have taken this innovation to the next level!
It's funny, when I first heard this, I thought this was the infamous "12 tone tune", as it's basically playing all 12 keys. Almost like an exercise. Amazing how such a simple concept, one that technically doesn't even have a melody, can sound so sublime and musical in the hands of Evans.
+Wolfgang Thoma I agree with you on the tempo, but can't disagree with Bill. I do cringe when I hear some of the pianos on which the man had to pound out his living and his art.

Loved this piece the first time I heard it.. so light and happy. I like hearing Bill play electric piano on the studio version of this.
Gorgeous piano playing. Reminds me of the spring time when flowers are blossoming and birds are flittering in the sky. Thanks for posting.
what a beautiful... art....
He's playing bebop lines that even Charlie Parker didn't realize could exist.
His best tune =)
thank you for uploading!!! this is another great tune from BILL and appreciation of his performance.

so effortless. I guess thats what all that practice does for you.
Exquisite!! (but the title of this tune is Sugar Plum)
great - in some moments almost too fast...
