      last time i used them was almost 3 years ago in my art class at school. ever since then i wanted to use them again but somehow just never got around to do another piece with them. but it's definitely something i am planning on using again one day. i found using crayons pretty fun

      I used crayons for a color blended dog recently. Yes, it takes quite a while to fill the “ tooth” of the paper. Fine details are hard to get, but I do like the challenge.

    You did such a great job! I've tried a solvent with crayons and it helps with the blend.

    I found myself trying to blow the crayon crumbs off of the screen. Once a crayola child, always a crayola child

    Stumbled across this video because I just bought the colors of the world crayons and wondered what a full piece would look like. Very nice. You might be able to see the flaws as the artist, but from where I'm sitting, this looks pretty darn good to me. Great job all around.

    You probably could've used solvent to create washes for the first early layers, I know that oil pastels work like that, and I bet there's something similar for wax pastels like crayons! Loved this video, it was so cool to see the end result!

    • @Lilstarnerd
      @Lilstarnerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that is such a good idea!! i will definitely have to look into getting a solvent for sure!!

    I know this is an older video, but I had to comment that I have worked with crayons for a while now and what helps a lot with the blending is using a cotton swab dipped in a little solvent- I keep a large carton nearby for just that purpose-

    dude i was just thinking back to me using crayons back in the day in art class and the abstract feel of the art is so awesome. Im just getting back into art after being forced to quit but this is a great style I want to try. Gothic style art with crayons would go so hard.

    If you use scotch tape it pulls off the crayon crumbs and you can take a quarter and rub the wax away but leave the pigment and they add more color on top. its like watercolor you work light to dark but you have to remove the wax layer

    good job with the portrait 😀 crayons can be a PITA to use sometimes, i find it easier with some kind of solvent to build up the layers of colour but even that can be annoying and give you a banger of a head ache from the fumes lol

    • @Lilstarnerd
      @Lilstarnerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i definitely need to look into using a solvent!!

    What is the controversy with Pinterest? Also big bummer with low views. I love your vids and love the direction you are going in! and I love you!!!!

    • @Lilstarnerd
      @Lilstarnerd  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      there's no big controversy or anything, it's just pretty well known that pinterest takes other creator's content without properly sourcing them! i've seen my own art on there without linking to me in any way! a lot of photographer's work is reuploaded and artists like me use them without crediting them :( i try to avoid it but it's a hard habit to break! and thank you for your kind words!!!!!

    Crayons are a professional art tool. The word crayon gives this medium a really bad reputation. Don't be ashamed of using this medium. It is a great medium, and is NOT just for kids.
