I mean, Behringer just clone more expensive pedals in cheaper cases, but the circuit is the same or slightly re-voiced (maybe some expensive components get subbed out and that's what causes it?). This overdrive is just the well-loved Boss ODB-3 but with a plastic case.
I really love the BOD400, I mostly use it as a guitar overdrive to get more bass and a hard feedback sound. For noise and hardcore guitar stuff, it's a really cool pedal.
@@Metalbass1979 Well if a Sansamp and a Boss Bass OD can get along as I saw in a vid then m pretty sure the BDI21 and the Behringer Bass OD would come out the same. Aside from they are both clones of those units, they share the same brand! Hehehe. \m/
hi Patrick, i've been using that pedal for 5 years now, hard to get good pedals in Peru, it works good for giving the bass some character, like a clean blend with some drive but you can reall boost the lows exceptionally well with this thing, like you said it has some really good tones, so if you are looking for something that can give some spunk and huge lows to your tone, 25 bucks is not that bad
I get the synthetic sound and don’t disagree, I’ve had it on my gigging board for two years now, and amazed that it holds up the way it does! Put it behind a decent preamp or for that matter even just a decent compressor and it pulls out most of that synthetic quality, and for anyone looking, Patrick said it best; there’s a lot of surprisingly useful tones
Sounds like the boss overdrive which at first I didnt like but I found the more subtle I set the pedal it was very useful. Probably the same with this pedal. For rock stuff i usually run the overdrive all the time set super low for a little separation in the mix. This would probably be good for that.
I've had this pedal for about 2 years now and there have been numerous times after a show where people come up to me and ask how I get my tone, the only other pedal I have is a Bass Big Muff
You say synthetic, I say awesome. Unless you're playing in a band with no guitar player, I don't think it's a big deal. With some eq adjustment or add it with another distortion pedal to boost the overdrive, I think it sounds fine. I just bought a used one for $15 after watching this video. I already had a bass attack 2 for minor tube warmth on my pedal board. I hooked this up before the bass wah, and adjusted it to add more crunch and thought it sounded pretty good. Now I have one pedal for slight overdrive and one more a much heavier effect.
Nice find, i see this all over the place but plastic scares me. I use the ODB-3 as my only effect for basseroo. My trick is to keep the gain knob very low, blend at 9 o'clock, and a slight bass boost/teb cut for a sweet fizz. Not a "blow out yer ears" kind of vibe. A lot of people blast the gain knob and that is not my cup of tea for bass anyway. Nice vid Patrick, see you in the next one!
Same settings I use with my ODB-3! More subtle but it works. Think mine might be faulty though - I have to crank the level wayy up, to level-match against the bypassed signal. How about you?
Behringer bought TC Electronics, so any of the Behringer sounds that you like can be found as TC reissues with a far more durable chassis. They're also still positioned as "budget" pedals, so you can get them for around 70$ CAD.

That pedal was the very first bass pedal that I got to use. A friend lent it to me a decade ago to play around with and I remember being very, very happy with the sounds I got from it. Especially since I was mostly playing Muse tunes then which the pedal helped with capturing the fuzz/OD tones. Very fun pedal at the right price for both beginner and veteran players!
In a band situation, in a pub or even a hall or BBQ I don't belive anyone could tell the difference between this an a "boutique" pedal. If your a discerning and exigent "bedroom" player....I reckon if bass players had this 40 or 50 years ago it would have been gold! I have one of these and expensive ones, we must stop this pedal snobery. This is a bloody good pedal period , and for $25! Am I on the right planet?!

It's taken a lot of effort to get it sounding even remotely close to what I was looking for, but at the same time, it does what it says on the tin and at £20 in the UK, I can't really complain. But, I'll be looking to sell this on later in the year and probably go back to a Boss ODB. Do like Behringer Pedals though, I love the Behringer BEQ and Behringer BDI pedals - especially the BDI, was looking to get a SansAmp, but then decided to try the BDI, and it's fucking great! Just jumping on videos to try and see other peoples settings for the BOD, cheers for the video dude. Have a like, and a nice day.

Massive plus with this one is that you don't lose low frequencies.. even with a 5-string. A LOT of pedals that bassists typically use for dirt roll so much low end off....

Then you just add in a bit of the overdrive sound with as much gain as your sound calls for & BAM! Decent overdrive bass. The tone controls affect both drive and clean, which pisses me off. I want my clean to be clean... But again, for anyone needing something decent on the cheap, it's totally legit. Massive plus with this one is that you don't lose low frequencies.. even with a 5-string. A LOT of pedals that bassists typically use for dirt roll so much low end off....
Is that Sterling Ray bass yours ???
is this good for guitars too?
This one is for bass but they have the same line of pedal for 25 bucks for guitar I own there compressor and sustain pedal and is ok nit the best but for 25 I can complain
What if you have been playing 30 years and on a budget?
sounds pretty close to felix pappalardi fuzz tone to me
Anyone put this on 808’s & EDM kicks?
Do a blind test video... It sounds like it's worth a lot more than $40 or $50.
Great video! 🙌🏼💯
This pedal is great, but honestly just get a big muff
JHS pedals which builds them did a video on behringers and they are mostly exact clones, same circiuts. This guy is listening with is eyes. Its a clone of the Boss pedal in a plastic case.
Cheers man! The plastic "blows" the mind and it seems that ears fall into illusions.
Sounds like the fuzz pedal
I think you just shot just unintensionally shot yourself in the foot with your comentary, the sound is good...Do you work for Boss? ;)
Tanxs man! I will comprar no lugar do odb e o resto vou gastar de cocaína no carnaval.
😂😂😂😂
Would be nice if Behringer pedals were still $25. Now they're at least twice the price.
Bass fuzz!
I’ve got this and the Boss. The Boss is a lot better. Still not amazing compared to more modern drives, but still a lot better.
I love a lot of Behringer gear but the best sound from this pedal is bypass 🤔
just this minute ordered one . just can't warrant paying £ 215 for a sansamp ,,, If it's pants well,,, it was only £20

Solo hablan mal del pedal, pero en realidad a mi me gusta el sonido, compralo
You said OBD instead of ODB-3. WU-TANG FOREVA
This dude doesn't like anything.
NUX have a copy of the ibanez bass tube screamer called the bass scream, as well as an all original bass preamp/di called the Martin Lee Davis Signature. Way better then this behringer crap.
Too much treble, it sounds like your frying something in oil.
