Personally, I do. I beat Zero Dawn 3-1/2 times on my PS5 and recently (5 days ago) started playing it on my PS5 Pro and there’s some pretty big improvements that I noticed, immediately. Not just in terms of overall detail (which there is much more of) but in terms of the way things move. There is significantly more dynamic movement, in this regard. Everything blows around with the wind way better and the weather effects, overall, are enhanced. The lighting also looks quite a bit better. There’s much more contrast and deeper black levels which makes shading and color saturation, overall, look a lot richer. Just look at the side by sides. When you really start playing it, you see it way more and it makes a big difference. I’m honestly kind of confused as to why you’re trying to downplay such an improvement. I mean, this is not supposed to be a generational leap like going from PS4 to PS5. It’s just the difference of getting the higher end version of the PS5, and it’s quite a bit better. There are visual improvements across the board while, at the same time, it has better performance. When playing on a bigger TV (I’m playing on a 65” Sony BRAVIA 9 QLED TV) the differences are very noticeable. I’m not saying it’s a gigantic leap forward but it is definitely noteworthy and makes playing the game a better experience.
But are you talking about the new remastered version of zero dawn? It only just came out and you’re mentioning playing it through 3.5 times…at least one or more of those playthroughs would be on regular zero dawn?
You are talking about the differences between the original Zero Dawn and the remastered version. This video is about the differences between the remaster on the PS5 and that same remaster on the PS5 Pro.
Thats great, you’re getting quality mode at double the fps. That was one of the main selling point of PSSR. Digital Foundry confirmed they are only slightly changing the Dynamic Resolution scaling range between modes and applying their own AA solution.
It's visible how vegetation is moving much more actively on Pro version and that demands much more processing, pay attention to screens at about 4:30. In this manner the environment looks much more alive and natural than the slower movement and some spots with almost no movement on base model. The PRO FPS sometimes lower than the base model may be related to that additional processing. Would that mean a huge experience change for gamers? I don't think so, but I believe the improvements are not just related to easy measurements like resolutions or FPS, but to some other aspects that are not very noticeable at first glance, details like this one I've noticed. Would this be a decisive factor for the upgrade for me? of course not, but I liked that on PRO version better.

Hey man can you please test the quality mode of visions of mana? If you don’t own it there should be a demo. Quality mode on base ps5 was 40-60fps. Would like to know if it’s locked 60 now.
I tested it on my QD-OLED. The difference is minimal, like maybe 10% sharper.. I saw more difference when I was playing Warzone, a game that isnt Pro Enhanced
@ozgurkuzu2202 I deffinetly recomend QD-OLED especialy if you are going to use it for gaming. I actualy switched from standard OLED (LG C1) to QD-OLED (S95B) a year ago. The difference was massive. You actualy dont see much of a difference when u use it for Netflix or other streaming service. But for pure gaming its a next level upgrade.
Any PS4 game looks good on the base PS5 remastered or not. I have the base PS5 and just got my OLED monitor. Big difference. Looks like the Pro. So I see now my only issue was my flat screen and it wasn’t a bad one either.
Forbidden West seems more noticeably improved on PS5 Pro with less flicker of fine details but even then it's not very noticeable. I'm surprised with the extra GPU power they didn't try to do something better with the lighting or water reflections or something.
PS5 pro conclusion: the bigger the difference of the rendering vs output resolution (the bigger the upscaling), the bigger the positive difference with the regular PS5. Games with already high resolutions don't have very noticeable differences.
For me this is the game where I saw the biggest difference when it comes to image quality. I played this on PS5,Pro, and PC. Easiest way to see the difference is by playing on a 4K monitor or at really close distance to your display. The moving foliage and trees is where you see the biggest difference. At 5-6 feet away from a large display you won’t see a difference I think unless you really look for it.
In terms of comparison to PC, it’s similar quality to 4k DLSS, but worse than 4K DLAA. Base PS5 is surprisingly very good image quality wise, but the image brake up is very obvious if you play at monitor distance.
it may feel right to say you're being honest, 'i like to be very honest with you' etc., but all this does is suggest that you're usually not being honest. there's no need to qualify by saying you're being honest.
You need to test in demanding intense gameplay action areas because old ps5 has dynamic res checkerboard, and pro holds up really well maintaining fixed resolution and fps doesn't drop so bad
Leading up to the Pro's release, Guerilla Games actually spoke about how they have been able to eliminate the over-sharpening they used on base PS5 thanks to the PS5 Pro. Forbidden West was widely criticized in videophile circles at release due to it's aggressive sharpening, most notably by Vincent Teoh. The Zero Dawn remake essentially uses the upgraded Forbidden West engine improvements to achieve similar level of fidelity to the sequel, and likely relies on sharpening on the base PS5 as well. If that's the case, then Pro will give you a much more natural look, while yielding detail in a superior fashion. It's similar to comparing the US 4K UHD disc release of Fifth Element from Sony to the UK release from Studio Canal, minus all the technological components.
The PS5 Pro version has slightly sharper grass/leaves, and overall the foliages on the Pro are much more heavily animated, making the Pro version feel more vibrant. Rest of the things are the same on both consoles and look amazing compared to the original HZD on PS4. I think Gorilla Games should add an additional Performance TAA mode like in GoW: Ragnarok, which should allow the PS5 Pro to run the game at high frame rates.
There are some very noticeable differences in some games, but you need to want to play those games (and a lot of them) for the pro to be worth it for ps5 owner.
As a Pro owner I’ve seen a massive improvement on stellar blade, Hogwarts legacy and rebirth so far. I have yet to try horizon. I was one of those people that had no intentions on buying a Pro, and looked at it as a waste before it released. I was wrong and have no regrets after witnessing it for myself. Wait till GTA 6 releases. I also would not watch these videos on your phone. Yea the price is bullshit and no disc drive is just a damn sin. That’s why I sold my base PS5 and a few games. Made it much more reasonable. I think $599 with disc drive and stand included should’ve been it. I also disagree with anyone that says this is not the same as ps4 to ps4 pro. From what I’ve seen it is.
Lots of people reporting 5ghz wifi disconnects after ten minutes. Have you seen this at all? One guy even did an exchange, but same problem. I have it too.
Question, does the PS5 Pro let you stream in 4K with the share button? And does the PS5 Pro let you record high frame rate video without bumping it down to 1080p?
The BS5 Pro is The Pinnacle of Console Design with its Innovative Use of Minimal Accessories and Remastered Launch Titles All At An Affordable Price 🙇😂
Yeah but the pro plays the sharp 4k image at 60 fps. That's preferable....if that the minimum pro enhanced games do it's good. But some other games have more added.
1:30 Pro in all 3 modes is higher res in this vegetation area Guerrilla use their own custom TAA reconstruction for Forbidden West on Pro, what it seems like is that they applied that custom TAA to all 6 modes across PS5 and Pro and the only difference is a slight increase in res on the Pro also vegetation is moving more on Pro
You're right. PS5 has checkerboard rendering, which prp doesn't you have native 4k at fidelity and balance but performance is slight increase by 144p same res as people watching TH-cam in Afghanistan and Africa 😂
You really need to play a lot of the game and push to the demanding parts and that's where the resolution will drop on base ps5 and so will performance
First few hours and scenes of no actually gameplay you can't see much the highly intensive gameplay areas is where pro really kicks in and holds the res and performance
So far the only single game i was impressed by pro is Final fantasy All the other games are like 10 % better but I can’t see it on my tv So far i don’t even know why i bought my ps5 pro 😂 Hopefully it will get better in the future
Any difference between performance pro and balanced pro in terms of resolution ? I’m struggling to see as I changed to performance pro. What is the point playing in balanced pro if the performance pro is identical in terms of picture quality. ?
The colours in PS5 Pro looks slightly more vivid than PS5 but that's all. PS5 pro is for people who don't own a PS5 AND for those who can afford it. Personal opinion? Even if I wouldn't own a PS5, I wouldn't buy the Pro because the product doesn't justify the price compared to the PS5 quality and current price.
หลายเดือนก่อน +2
I dont agree with the colors being more vivid but lets say there was a game where that was the case... you would get much more out of bumping the color saturation setting of your TV... IF you wanted colors to "pop". The PS5 "Pro" is a scam.
I'm pretty sure for the Resolution Pro and Balanced Pro modes they just added the modes that existed on the base PS5 without any enhancements so it really is pointless making comparisons with those modes. I agree though the Performance Pro mode is disappointing.
Hi and thanks for the video. In performance mode are differences about the pop up and draw distance when Aloy run? Would you try Horizon Forbidden West in flight to see pop up and draw distance when flying in performance mode? I was waiting for the PS5 PRO mainly for these 2 games. Thanks for your work.
thanks for the comparison! John at Digital Foundry said that this game truly looks like playing on a high end PC when playing on the PS5 Pro. would you guys say the same when playing on the base PS5?
I admit I haven’t played the remastered zero dawn on base ps5. However here are some differences that popped out to me on the pro version of Forbidden West. 1) pop in issues 90%-99% addressed, specifically when flying, looking out over long distances 2) better resolution on performance mode 3) less overall frame rate with VRR but at better resolution 4) other minor improvements and overall better graphic experience
The real big difference is in performance modes. On the base PS5 you get FPS with dynamic resolution up to 1800P, where as with the pro you get dynamic upscale to 2160. It's not a huge difference, but clearly the larger GPU on the pro gives it the extra power to get to upscale to 4K while maintaining 60 FPS. This is literally the marketing message of the Pro, and whether you think its worth it or not, it delivers on that.
Qq: are you using your pro to test the ps5 version? Reason I’m asking -from your videos I really am not seeing a difference or not much but when I’m playing it on my screen I can clearly see it’s much sharper and has less artefact ridden in performance mode. Im wondering if they also changed performance mode or if the extra grunt is helping it too.
The most important feature of the new consoles is that they play old generation games at high screen frame rates. This will be the case 3 years later and 6 years later (PS6 and Pro). It will continue until the physical console disappears.
Pro Performance mode offers roughly the same image quality as base PS5's Resolution mode, but does it at 60 fps instead of 30 fps. Base PS5's Performance mode gets slightly higher framerate than Pro Performance mode, but does it with worse image quality and regularly stutters down when streaming in new world data. How is that not better?
There is no significant difference but I think the weather is more dynamic and the leaf and the grass move faster and more naturally on the ps5 pro! Other than that it’s only the refresh rate that make a big change
The remaster is very heavy on the CPU, at least on PC, which is probably why you're not seeing a big bump in FPS between the PS5 and the Pro. Resolution-wise, the Pro is slightly higher, but it's still using Guerrilla's in-house TAA reconstruction solution, so the 4K image resolution ends up being very close. It's a tad sharper, but nothing drastic, most noticeable on things in the distance.
would you mind make schedule with resolutions and fps with or without vrr for each game you tested like the one you made with spider man 2 on ps5 fat because untill now i didn't get it ps5 pro runs 4k 60 fps or not some games you said on fidality pro still runs at 30 fps
Honestly, there shouldn't be a difference. As this is a brand new "remaster" that Sony charged $10 to upgrade. I'd be ticked off if suddenly Sony was like, "well, really, you have to pay $700+ to get the full benefit of this 'remaster'".
From leaked spec I know this look same just like overclock in PC, and the result yeah same too only difference 5 fps, and the worse in PS5 Pro are difference 5 fps some games with PSSR on and PS5 without PSSR are same performance. Not worth it to buy PS5 Pro. Just waiting Gran Turismo 7 in Pro model does same performance with PS5, if same I don't need buy PS5 Pro.
I think the performance modes are the best to go for on the pro as they seem to reach resolution mode from base ps5 in most cases. Hogwarts Legacy on performance mode looks really good, as it’s using PSSR, would love to see how this compares with base ps5 performance and fidelity mode.
I don't understand what rule they had to put the improved badge for the Pro version when there are absolutely no changes, even the FPS is higher on the base version and this is not one game that has the Pro prefix. Thank you for your work
Nah pro mode has the fedilty mode of the base version at 60 fps while it runs 30 fps on the base version that's the bigger difference don't lie to ur self.
Hi Markus. I hope that I can send a little bit of constructive feedback your way. I'd like to point out when you say "what" ("What we have here"/ "What I have prepared"), it's "that" or "which" instead. I understand that as a German "was" (Was wir hier haben 😊) is very commonly used and that it is a habitual thing. Nevertheless, for the sake of professionalism, I thought you'd find this useful. Anyway.. Great, honest and grounded content as always.
Let's not forget this is a remaster of a PS4 game until they make dedicated games for the PS5 pro then you're not really gonna see what is capable of or until they release games for the PS5 with a dedicated PS5 pro upgrade and that's not gonna be for a year or two
I have the Pro and the difference is noticeable but not huge. You are getting the better looking resolution mode from the PS5 but at 60 FPS (feels like) instead of 30 on the base. For me, the resolution mode of the PS5 was beautiful but I could not play it because the frame rate was too low. So being able to play the better looking version at 60 FPS is wonderful. This review with some slow motion screen grabs is not telling or showing the honest changes the Pro brings. Is it worth $700? Well I sold my PS5 for $330 so I only spent about $400. For me I love the improvements the console is giving you. When you do the side by side for FPS comparison you're comparing the wrong modes. You have the Pro performance vs the PS5 performance. You can see even in the compressed TH-cam video the Pro looks better, but you should be comparing it to the PS5 Resolution mode where you will not be getting 60FPS...
Games out now are only getting "pro patches". Wait for games actually developed with pro in mind from the start to see the max difference between base ps5, then decide if you want to buy
There a few modes that are weird atm. The bests modes are always those who puts you in the VRR range of 60-100 these are the best looking smooth frames. Balanced puts the game back at 120hz but with a 30 fps feeling. Always select performance vrr 120 and youll be happy. Dont look for details, look for the speed.
im a bit confused. Cause i remember i switchet between Performance and Resolution Mode cause the Resolution Mode was sharper and cleaner at all. On Ps5 Pro i dont see a difference between all modes but i dont remember how it looks before. Strange.
You’re definitely not going to see it, in a youtube video side by side, on a 1080p phone to boot. This is true of most games, and you just don’t get the full show until you see it in person. However, for a game like this, it already runs phenomenally on base PS5. They didn’t go in and add new assets, there are no higher ‘Ultra’ settings or anything to crank up, and base PS5 already hits great performance metrics. If people are expecting every game to look drastically different somehow, that will never be the case with a refresh console when it comes to assets or gameplay and so on. I haven’t read what what they claim the enhancements are, but I would not be shocked ro hear that there is very little for this particular title. I’m sure PC looks pretty much the same as well. Some games do look significantly better and some, like this one, won’t. There’s only so much to improve for this title to begin with.
The horizon games are the only ones I actually can’t see a difference at all. Everything else has been nice with stellar blade, FF7 , and resident evil games being the standouts
I wonder if the frame rate in HFW or even in HZD would be better without the patches for PS5 pro consoles. If the latest patches for pro hadn't been installed.
Ok compare to pc max settings with ps5 pro image quality can you spot it? I only noticed one difference Grass animates far more on pro than base thats it. From your video i don’t have pro. Maybe lighting is better? Not sure.

But 1 question what else changed for the samsung hdr settings (the s95c setting video seems a bit outdated) i know that you have said to calibrate till the sun disaperas even on samsung tvs but whats with color space auto or native?? Ps and what else changed?
The PS5 Pro performance mode seems to be running at a higher resolution than the balanced mode, which is interesting.
Do you think qd oled makes difference in graphical terms using ps5 pro ? Do u recommend buying qd oled ?
@ozgurkuzu2202 I deffinetly recomend QD-OLED especialy if you are going to use it for gaming. I actualy switched from standard OLED (LG C1) to QD-OLED (S95B) a year ago. The difference was massive. You actualy dont see much of a difference when u use it for Netflix or other streaming service. But for pure gaming its a next level upgrade.
@@SuadBektic Thanks a lot my friend.
Any PS4 game looks good on the base PS5 remastered or not. I have the base PS5 and just got my OLED monitor. Big difference. Looks like the Pro. So I see now my only issue was my flat screen and it wasn’t a bad one either.
I didn't notice any noticeable difference. 😆😆😆
Forbidden West seems more noticeably improved on PS5 Pro with less flicker of fine details but even then it's not very noticeable. I'm surprised with the extra GPU power they didn't try to do something better with the lighting or water reflections or something.
Is that the og ps5 or ps5 slim vs the pro
You don’t like Balanced Pro? I am playing in that mode and it’s great.
PS5 pro conclusion: the bigger the difference of the rendering vs output resolution (the bigger the upscaling), the bigger the positive difference with the regular PS5. Games with already high resolutions don't have very noticeable differences.
It's rather comical how the base model can outperform the pro
Ps5 base on resolution mode is more sharp, from all mode on ps pro
Don't see a difference at all, tbf. I know youtube compression can have an effect, but everyone i see comparing the two consoles aren't Impressed.
Did you test the other modes?
Lots of people reporting 5ghz wifi disconnects after ten minutes. Have you seen this at all? One guy even did an exchange, but same problem. I have it too.
You don’t customize your white and black stabilizers ?
Question, does the PS5 Pro let you stream in 4K with the share button? And does the PS5 Pro let you record high frame rate video without bumping it down to 1080p?
What tv is that friend? And what size?
cant tell the difference that is why i return my pro it is not worth the 799 euro over the base ps5
The BS5 Pro is The Pinnacle of Console Design with its Innovative Use of Minimal Accessories and Remastered Launch Titles All At An Affordable Price 🙇😂
You nailed it... is is, the BS5 "pro"
Yeah but the pro plays the sharp 4k image at 60 fps. That's preferable....if that the minimum pro enhanced games do it's good. But some other games have more added.
1:30 Pro in all 3 modes is higher res in this vegetation area
Guerrilla use their own custom TAA reconstruction for Forbidden West on Pro, what it seems like is that they applied that custom TAA to all 6 modes across PS5 and Pro and the only difference is a slight increase in res on the Pro
also vegetation is moving more on Pro
You're right. PS5 has checkerboard rendering, which prp doesn't you have native 4k at fidelity and balance but performance is slight increase by 144p same res as people watching TH-cam in Afghanistan and Africa 😂
You really need to play a lot of the game and push to the demanding parts and that's where the resolution will drop on base ps5 and so will performance
First few hours and scenes of no actually gameplay you can't see much the highly intensive gameplay areas is where pro really kicks in and holds the res and performance
Hey Markus! Any chance for Dead Space remake comparison b/w the pro and the amateur?
I think it varies on a scenes by scene basis. One thing that immediately jumps out is how clearer foliage is.
FPS on Resolution mode is significantly different, why dont you show that?
Its 30fps locked on pro and base ps5
But when I play on PS5 Pro, the fps on resolutuon mode is fixed at 60, while the fps on performance mode fluctuates around 60.
So far the only single game i was impressed by pro is Final fantasy
All the other games are like 10 % better but I can’t see it on my tv
So far i don’t even know why i bought my ps5 pro 😂
Hopefully it will get better in the future
The difference is the name and price.
one question, does the 120hz performance mode have worse quality than the 60hz performance mode? I can't figure it out
A few more blades of grass and flowers.
Lmfao. xD!
I dont agree with the colors being more vivid but lets say there was a game where that was the case... you would get much more out of bumping the color saturation setting of your TV... IF you wanted colors to "pop". The PS5 "Pro" is a scam.
I don’t agree with anything you said. However, I wouldn’t get the pro to play this remaster either.
The base PS5 is resolving more detail and is more stable image
I'm pretty sure for the Resolution Pro and Balanced Pro modes they just added the modes that existed on the base PS5 without any enhancements so it really is pointless making comparisons with those modes. I agree though the Performance Pro mode is disappointing.
Hi and thanks for the video. In performance mode are differences about the pop up and draw distance when Aloy run? Would you try Horizon Forbidden West in flight to see pop up and draw distance when flying in performance mode? I was waiting for the PS5 PRO mainly for these 2 games. Thanks for your work.
How loud is your Pro? I am sending mine back today, it's far too loud, i don't think that's normal.
To be fair I can’t tell the difference between the PS5 and the PC version running at Ultra settings lol.
That’s a lie lmao.
thanks for the comparison! John at Digital Foundry said that this game truly looks like playing on a high end PC when playing on the PS5 Pro. would you guys say the same when playing on the base PS5?
what did you mean fall out of vrr range at 119 fps? vrr range is 48-120hz.
I admit I haven’t played the remastered zero dawn on base ps5. However here are some differences that popped out to me on the pro version of Forbidden West.
1) pop in issues 90%-99% addressed, specifically when flying, looking out over long distances
2) better resolution on performance mode
3) less overall frame rate with VRR but at better resolution
4) other minor improvements and overall better graphic experience
The real big difference is in performance modes. On the base PS5 you get FPS with dynamic resolution up to 1800P, where as with the pro you get dynamic upscale to 2160. It's not a huge difference, but clearly the larger GPU on the pro gives it the extra power to get to upscale to 4K while maintaining 60 FPS. This is literally the marketing message of the Pro, and whether you think its worth it or not, it delivers on that.
The vegetation and foliage looks so much more active on the pro version.
No, I am using the pro to test the pro mode and the old ps5 for the non pro modes
You missed the most important bit. Can you get 60 FPS in quality mode on PS PRO?
no it's locked to 30fps
The most important feature of the new consoles is that they play old generation games at high screen frame rates. This will be the case 3 years later and 6 years later (PS6 and Pro). It will continue until the physical console disappears.
Pro Performance mode offers roughly the same image quality as base PS5's Resolution mode, but does it at 60 fps instead of 30 fps.
Base PS5's Performance mode gets slightly higher framerate than Pro Performance mode, but does it with worse image quality and regularly stutters down when streaming in new world data.
How is that not better?
Hallo, mein Freund,
Ich möchte einen neuen Fernseher für mein Wohnzimmer kaufen, um auf der PS5 Pro zu spielen.
Darf ich fragen, welchen Fernseher du empfehlen würdest?
Vielen Dank im Voraus
VG
LG G4 oder S95C
@GamingTech-TH-cam Danke sehr 🤜
Will you be testing Stalker 2 at launch on series x? 20.11.2024 please give US best SDR and HDR Settings in this game ;)
Honestly, there shouldn't be a difference. As this is a brand new "remaster" that Sony charged $10 to upgrade. I'd be ticked off if suddenly Sony was like, "well, really, you have to pay $700+ to get the full benefit of this 'remaster'".
Does anyone know which resolution it's going to in balanced mode?
Nobody is gonna talk about the amazing haircut this guy just got 😮💨👍 great stuff man looking really good! 😁❤️
Paying $700 just to see these results is an embarrassment. I know the Pro has a good hardware but this is just disappointing at this point
I see a clear price difference.
@@ELASIRIexcept its not locked at 60fps and barely stays at 45fps complete trash 😂
@PandaCheeks dude it's 60fps get over it check every video u want 🙄
@ELASIRI No its not! Go look up a ffvi benchmark vid and get schooled lil bro! 😂
@PandaCheeks why do I need to look when I have the pro my self ? Looking is for poors when I can touch my self 🤣
For me yes because the upgrade is having the performance pro mode option 💯
0:50 The PS5▪︎PRO Side Looks Like 2055 Alien Technology ⚙ ~ Witness True Power
Base Ps5 has much sharper vegetation in the same mode wtf!? And quality pro is still locked 30fps! That is just embarrassing!
Digital foundry says the game looks better in the performance pro mode than the ps5 quality mode which is insane considering its double the framerate
Sometimes you just have to hold on to $800+ dollars😂
The horizon games are the only ones I actually can’t see a difference at all. Everything else has been nice with stellar blade, FF7 , and resident evil games being the standouts
PS5 pro version isn't using PSSR, there where no enhancements made over the standard PS5 version. DF covered this already!
I wonder if the frame rate in HFW or even in HZD would be better without the patches for PS5 pro consoles. If the latest patches for pro hadn't been installed.
Ps5 a bit sharper 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
lol ps5 slim looks sharper?
Ok compare to pc max settings with ps5 pro image quality can you spot it?
I only noticed one difference
Grass animates far more on pro than base thats it. From your video i don’t have pro.
Maybe lighting is better? Not sure.
