Hardman always had phenomenal chops but a sound that was more "crisp" than full. But about this time he began to develop a more open, Clifford-like sound to go with his lightning fast articulations and endless store of melodic ideas. His eventual meeting up with Charlie Rouse was a near-perfect match of two underrated giants. David Schnitter had excellent control of his top tones in the altissimo register, frequently alternating between the lowest and highest notes in rapid succession. Listening to him from the uppermost balcony at Carnegie Hall, we were all on our feet cheering and applauding. He made 4 albums under his own name for Muse, but last I looked (3 decades later) none had been reissued on CD.
@@RicardoUrquiza_music Nobody's harassing anybody, I loved his solo but that's me... music is supposed to bring us together and not separate us. greetings from Israel!
@@RicardoUrquiza_musichahahahaha your comment embodies the very spirit of what you’re insinuating about Avishai. Your hatred isn’t admirable because you feel your cause is righteous
I"d like 2 ask avashai if he is aware of the version by archie shepp and WOODY SHAW, from 1976-7 (prime time 4 shaw. keystne corner Vol. 3 another example). they play betty and the cat whos recording skips the end of shaws solo Which is 1 of the greatest solos ive ever heard! Think IN a sentimental moods on their too. Mr. cohen sounds reminescent, would love to track that lp down. And Mark you are brillant, THANK u
This song without piano is criminal because it's so extremely virtical, And they're playing inside assiduously so why not piano? But man great band I'll take em.
Mark’s solo is surreal! Gonna try to transcribe this
Nice!!!! good to see Turner and Gilmore playing together on video.
Marcus is the man !!

embrace the space...there's room for both things...great band, harmonious sound
paxwallacejazz, I agree and feel that a pianist would have added a lot, even if just chording some.
Neem een cadeau zoals het komt🎉😂.
Perfectie in JAZZ ?
Something something play music the way you want to play it lmao
If you know the tune well, you’re already hearing the harmony.

Benny Golson has grounds for suing.
How so?
the drummer never got in...
+Ricardo Moraes-Pinto wtf?
Rewatched it. I stick to my opinion. Sorry guys.
Try to re-listen it...
It's alright he's a greater musician than you could ever hope to be.
Agreed. Blakey is a hard act to follow. To me he played fine, but unimpressive. Boring even.
