Squid have both tentacles and arms! the tentacles are the long ones with the suckers at the end, arms are shorter and have suckers all the way down their length :) (which also means octopus have no tentacles, only arms). Also love that you call the backbone bit a "quill", in Canada we call it a "pen"
I was looking for this comment, so I didn't have to write it myself. Haha. I've had so many questions regarding the backbone from kids believing it was plastic lodged in the poor squid. Also the 8 arms will sometimes be referred to as 6 arms and 2 legs, as the 2 "last" arms are often used by the squid to move around (more like legs) and the first 6 to grab things (more like arms).
Normally I give Jamie the edge but Barry looked so comfortable breaking down that squid and was very knowledgeable. His mayo looked incredible too. I think the right person won today.
Any badges earned for demonstrating sound explanations and knowledge should be regularly retested just to ensure they didn’t remember the information for a video to forget afterwards or else the badge gets rescinded

So true - I didn't cook at all because it was so daunting, then I started watching SORTED a few years back and now I pretty much cook daily! They make it look so fun and best of all that it is ok to mess up.
It makes sense that Snape, the Potion's Master, would win a cooking battle, but watching Barry hunched over and trying to cook with that hair suddenly explained a lot of Snape's habits.

The only thing I'm not sure about is delivery of actual cookbooks to the US. Maybe someone else can step in for that. But it's absolutely worth it 👍🏼.
That calamari & chorizo mayo has been one of my go to appetizers for when I have people over ever since I watched that battle. People always love it! Can't wait to be able to invite friends at home again and make this.

@@_maxgray There's no problem using a pot to cook rice, not sure if people are still riding on that meme or genuinely thinking that cooking rice with a pot is heresy. A rice cooker is a wonderful gadget to have since it simplifies everything regarding cooking rice but it is still a "single use" (yes I know you can make cakes and what not with it) gadget that takes up quite a bit of space. For someone that doesn't eat rice as often as others, having a pot might be "better" since you aren't always going to cook rice and if you are, then a few extra steps won't hurt if you're doing it properly. I'm curious though, how is their rice cooking technique consistently terrible? The steps make sense and I have been doing the same thing (high heat to boil, low heat, water evaporated, steam the rest of the way) for my daily staff meals since you can't fit upwards of 10 portions of rice in a conventional rice cooker.
@@Bryan_K_27435 I can't speak for others, but my objections have absolutely nothing to do with their using a pot (it's the classic method and works great if you know what you're doing) and everything to do with their terrible "washing" technique and inability to produce the correct texture for different rice types/dishes. But I will admit that they have definitely improved from the even worse days when they drained rice as though it were pasta.

I'd have such a tough time deciding between the two o-o I'd love both of the dishes.. BUT if I had to pick one.. I'd probably go for Jamie's just because of the variety of stuff in it o-o and being a bit more "fresh" in a way.
The result of that took me right back to the look on barrys face when he realised his chicken pie pastry wasnt cooked, o boy!
I am absolutely loving watching the normals battle it out for badges! Seeing them learn and grow as cooks and revisit past dishes is seriously fun.
My money was Barry. They both did a good job. But Barry definitely showed more skill here. Props to Jamie for wearing that insane outfit the whole time tho 😂
