@@SortedFood I've got 1 out of 2 shots of the vaccine, soo. Well I'm just saying,don't call it what it isn't. Valencian paella is like neapolitan pizza, there is a way and that's the only way. But at the same time we are worse, you can't call everything paella. Just take that into consideration. This is the list:Aceite de oliva.

Pimentón dulce.
Azafrán en hebra.

It's not a requirement to have all of them, but, this is the list, take it or take it. No, you don't pour lemon, and yes you can use paella colouring. The correct colour should be dark green thanks to the artichoke.

Saffron in threads.
Round rice.
Snails (in season)
Green bean (“bajoqueta”).

He’s dancing with death, I’d have thought he learned his lesson last time. He should’ve cooked the rice in a wok or something, just to be safe 😂 and he defs should’ve called it “savoury rice” instead of using the P word
Edit: and he probs should’ve used anything other than chorizo (at least vienna sausages or bangers would be safer). Personally, I would’ve fed the chefs any old sausage, the badge isn’t worth all the wrath of an entire country 😂
It certainly wasn't paella, but if I ordered paella at a restaurant and got that instead, I wouldn't send it back if I'm honest.

As a spaniard, don't worry about doing paella right or wrong. It is a traditional dish and by that very same reason, every house makes it "right" while everybody makes it different.
As long as it is yummy, ignore the critiques and keep improving! :D

For alioli you can try putting egg, salt, garlic and lemon juice in a blender, and then streaming oil in order for it to emulsionate. It is perfect for seafood paella
This is the kind of constructive criticism I like to see! As an ethnically Chinese person, I’m never too offended when people put their own twists to traditional dishes from my childhood as long as they respect and understand the essence of the dish and what makes it good. And tbh good food is good food! ;)

Exactly this. There was a very similar situation with Babish making Italian cacio e pepe. Big drama over him "doing it wrong" etc etc. So he did an episode to improve, had an Italian chef video call him to "correct" him and tell how to make "real" cacio e pepe. So Babish ask for the traditional recipe.
Italian chef: _"Well, traditional recipe is oral. It's down through the family, everyone does it different. My grandmother learned from her grandmother and she does it different from someone else's grandmother..."_
So, you know, ..everyone does it differently, but you doing it different is "wrong" and will make us unreasonably mad.
I feel like this is the same standard for all “authentic” food. If it’s good, it’s good. Fuck it. I live right next-door to Mexico so we get really decent Mexican food but I’ve had Mexican food in Chicago that is amazing. Not the same but amazing.

The only thing you can do when dressing up in an embarrassing costume is just be confident and own the costume rather than being embarrassed 😂😂 I did a charity run in a Wonder Woman outfit once and I did it for a good cause, give other runners a reason to chuckle and have a story to tell on Monday morning in work 😂

Jamie has finally outdid his Minnie Mouse costume-an image that is burned in our minds. I find the idea of a sweet burrito interesting. I am not a burrito fan but what Mike did was interesting and worth an attempt at recreating. Good video as always.

Well, technically speaking, Disney owns Marvel. So all Marvel villains are Disney villains.

They’re only allowed to use the tools that were available at that time and they have to do it in the original measurements - no converting into metric
@@aknee3042 They’ll have to be ready to use dashes, pinches, or just “eyeball it”. My Nan even had “a whisper” of something, which is less then a pinch. And when it calls for a “cup”’of something, they have 5 completely different sized tea cups and coffee mugs. Not a proper measurement tool in sight.

My first time baking a specific cookie called a 'Brunzli' (a chirstmas chocolate-nut-cookie with some spices and Schnaps), the recipe told me to use a knives point of ground clove. Afterwards the entire kitchen reeked of clove. x)

When I was trying to learn my Mammaws buttermilk biscuits and chocolate gravy (I live in the US South) I watched her a half dozen times from start to finish, and there were different measurements and measuring tools
used every time. EVERY SINGLE TIME! And bless her, every single time I asked her to show me how to make it she was shocked that I hadn’t figured it out the first several times because I was “such a bright girl” and it was “such a simple and quick recipe”. I Miss Her terribly- but it still makes me stressed when I try to make it lol.

@@SortedFood Whether he got his remorse across or dies on this hill, simply standing his ground on reproducing it is impressive (or is it just a planning choice by the whole team to maybe get him killed off?). Hi, i have an Idea for a Chefskills badge: Problemsolving. For example have the normals start on a dish and the suddenly change the ingredients or remove an ingredient which was essential for the dish and have them try to adapt the dish to still follow the same theme f. e. " dessert " or " french cuisine"
Got to say, Mike wore the Malificent costume surprisingly well. And, of course, at the end of it, they still succeed just in their being better cooks than they were the last time they'd had this challenge.

As someone raised in Southern California, I could care less about putting paella in a burrito, but I take exception to Mike saying that "every burrito has rice in it."
I quite like Ursula with glasses and now am wondering how long it took Jamie to get the purple out of his beard after this was over. Edit: Also wondering why we didn't hear from Mexico's burrito enthusiasts on Jamie's initial recipe.
If they ever reprint that book I would work so many extra shifts just to afford it and the no doubt expesive shopping fee. (I live very far away... If it's not from the southern hemisphere it's cost a fortune). But I would adore it.

We've seen him do some terrible things over the years, from slicing a grilled cheese horizontal, rather than diagonal, to folding the tortilla of a fajita like an envelope for some reason. But the sheer illogic of trying to eat, not even a burrito, but half a burrito, with a knife and fork, is just disappointing!!! Thank God James was there to stop him, but it is still infuriating that, had no one been around to say anything, he would have gone ahead with the utensils like a mad man!!
