    Jamie being salty at the end was the best, and I think that effort put into a dish shouldn't be wasted, but if a time limit is part of a competition, it should disqualify anyone over said time limit

    • @writershard5065
      @writershard5065 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Yeah, this is why I despise the time limit bs. Good food can take time. Let everyone in the kitchen take their time with stuff. Instead we end up with this rigmarole that is absolutely pointless and only leads to anger and salt in the comments.

      Add cheese.
      Flip and brush them.
      Plate and garnish.

    I have to side with Jamie on this one, the time limit has to play a bigger factor in the judging, The fact that this was a beef battle and that was what Barry was predominantly waiting on and according James himself said the beef should have been cooked slightly longer. Knowing the cut of beef your cooking needs to come into account as it is a Beef badge. Barry could of chosen a different cut of Beef that would of cooked faster, I understand how flavourful beef ribs are but they also take longer to cook than many other cuts of beef. Jamie on the other hand choose to use beef cheeks, a cut of beef that has great flavour but could still be cooked in the time limit. To some it up Jamie should of won as it appeared that he knew his cut of beef better, or in the very least Jamie should also be given his Beef badge.

    Even if you ignore the time limit debacle, it was a BEEF battle and James stated clearly that Jamie's beef was cooked perfectly and Barry's was a little underdone. No way does Barry deserve this - Jamie didn't get extra time when his lava cake wasn't ready in time, Barry should relinquish this win if he had any sense of honour. Very disappointed with James here.

    Honestly I think we've moved past the point that the guys should get a pass for not completing things in the time limit. It was fine when the "normals" were still normal, but the ultimate battle format has been going on so long that there's no excuse aside really poor time management here. If you're now evaluating their skills, Barry needs to be penalized for his missteps. I think finishing after the time is up needs to be an automatic disqualification, or a rule that the dish MUST be served as-is when time is called. How is Barry's "win" here fair when he got so much more time than Jaime? How can you fairly judge two dishes when one has been sitting out getting cold while the other is served relatively fresh?

    Look, I might have not been there to taste the dish, but I feel like Jamie won this battle - not only because of the time but also based on James' comments? How does a beef that needs a longer cook wins a beef battle?! While he said Jamie's beef was perfectly cooked? Yeah, this was really not a fair win at all! And Barry should have been disqualified for going over the time limit, not just a couple minutes, but from the looks of it (with the jokes and what he still had to do) he went over the time a lot!

      I imagine that Jamie was just making a lot of jokes about Barry going over the time limit. Could've have just been an extra 10-15 minutes. • @chaoticbells
      @chaoticbells 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @b4 history @@Piratemonkeyify yes, exactly - I dont mean I think he went over an hour or that long, just that it wasn’t a quick 5 min over the time. He had to wait for the pressure to go off (which they said in the video reviewing the pot that it takes a couple minutes), then cut the meat (which you can see he was no longer in a hurry), fry the tortilla and plate his dish. All together, Id say at least ten minutes? Probably closer to 15? The point is Jamie *had* time to make the jokes, even some that obviously went on to bloopers.
      Like I said, I can't judge on taste, only on what James said. This was a beef battle. Yes, obviously the flavor was there, Jamie and James even look a bit speechless at one point. But if cooking the beef correctly is not taken into consideration, or the time in a timed battle, then these types of videos are kind of pointless? Just have the boys make the dishes without the pressure, and just judge them on taste.
      lmao - sorry, I didnt mean to write a whole essay on this, it's not even that serious, but out of all battles Ive seen over many, many years, I think this one was probably one of the most unfair wins.
