Going from a DR650 to a ttr250 was a game changer for me ,loved knowing that I was going to be able too lift it when dropped was a Huge thing ,buuut I did miss being able to sit at the road speed 🤔 going to the DRZ400e fixed that and only I bit heavier than the 250 😁 keep well mate and looking forward to the next video 😉👍🍺
@@budget-adventure Reliability was great 😎👌 upgrades 🤔 didnt really need any 😁 i would have kept it if it would of had just a little bit more power , was going to get a big bore kit but got the drz for around the same price as the bb kit and it has more power than i need 😉🍺
Love my WR250r as well. I've been looking for potential replacement but cant find anything more versatile. I have a big bike for the long haul trips and two up riding. The CRf450l available in 2024 looks like the closest potential replacement atm. Not to mention how cheep to run and things like tyres for these little bikes are less than half price of the big adventure bikes.
If you don't do long journeys on road it is an upgrade otherwise you are not going to enjoy long trips on a 250. That's the beauty of the 700, it is like a Swiss knife, jack of all trades, master of none, never going to sell mine.
Hey that's cool man, the world isn't so big after all, right? All is good, my world is covered in snow and I'm eagerly waiting for it to melt. So many places to see and ride, so little time! Hope all is good down under too mate :)
Ah, that’s a shame! I did return early this year however after a few months back, ended up breaking my foot, this time in a motorcycle crash…so I’m not back yet but will get back to it!
I have a set of v strom 800de and WR 450. Yamaha is better in autumn and early spring when there is a lot of mud. In the summer I prefer a Suzuki, it is better suited for longer trips and can take more luggage. Last year I did 1500 km offroad on a Yamaha, with a tent, stove, etc. I noticed that it doesn't handle luggage well, the driving characteristics change a lot for the worse. You can no longer jump and have fun driving.... For a change, the Suzuki drives practically the same even with luggage (in a bag, not in trunks).
I have both a T7 and Wr 250r that I've owned for 7 years now. Last year, I suffered a back injury, and the T7 sat all year. Meanwhile, I was out riding my old wr in just after a month.
Some times doctors made things bigger than it is , not always , but im just saying. 2 years ago i had vitreous detachment at ny left eye and i was lifting weights back then. Doc said that i cant lift weights anymore ,its dangerous, forget the weights for life. So i stop for 2 months back then to going to the gym and after that period i started again. Since then ,i never stop lifting weights and actually i lift more kgs now. Cheers from Greece , one more T7 lover here !
The WR is an unsung hero. I sold my KTM 200EXC after I realized how capable the WR was on the singletrack. Then I got a WR250F thinking I was missing out not having a proper enduro bike. Only to sell it and I will just stick with the WR-R. I have a road oriented VStrom 650 to compliment it for touring rides and commuting in bad weather.
Nice video and explanation. I have a Honda VFR 800 and a ‘21 Tenere 700 I love both of them. And I keep thing of a smaller displacement dual sport. Maybe I will add one to the stable.
I am all for downsizing. One of my favorite bigger bikes I have planned to purchase is the Ducati DesertX Rally. But I need a smaller and lighter bike in my stalls.
Ha ha doctors have told people they will never walk again but they do. Those of us that have been here for a while know the answer is no, your love of the wr and some of the trips you’ve been on are memorable and you have a bike now you’ll probably be buried with
What I love about dual sports is that you can build them to your need. I got the CRF300L and just love it. I do similar to what you do (maybe less extreme off road 😅) but I did add the rally tower wich hugely improved highway comfort and a more comfortable cockpit. I could probably do with a better seat but the padding in my armoured based layer helps. I do feel that a little more power would do some good but big bore kits are starting to pup up on the market. I am just waiting for long term reviews before I consider it. As it is, for a new rider, dual sports are the way to go.
Yeah mate, the versatility is just too good! I may eventually get a rally tower on mine too. I ran the windscreen but broke it and never bothered getting another one but the rally tower might be the go!
I looked at the T7 when I was looking to add a bike I could get off-road with. At 450lbs it was a little heavier than I wanted so I decided to get a Ktm 690. It’s been a great bike both on and off-road.
@@MattPerry I noticed that it used oil early on so I had to keep an eye on the level but that seemed to stop once it hit 5500 miles. Other than that no problems to speak of. I change oil and filters every 3000 miles not the 6500 it says in the manual. It’s actually been very reliable
We need 4 bikes. One for road only, one for long k's adventure riding, one for more technical adventure riding, and one for local hard core day trips. Well that's what I keep telling my missus anyway.
Great insight mate. As we know there is no unicorn bike and so two bikes is often the way to go which is why I kept the DR for the rough stuff and use the Triumph for longer adventures and easy gravel roads 👍
I have both of them and they are different night and day...if u live in near forest wr good choice for fun but riding T7 make me more happy on the gravel ı like power and stabilites on the gravel ,T7 more enjoyable bike but wr is good for single and technical ride and mud ,great exploration bike.
Nice review. Very similar to my experience coming from an f800gs. Ride a ktm 350 Xcf-w for my enduro bike but if I had to go down to 1, it’s probably the wr.
Great video mate! The one bike I regret selling as a light weight adv 'do it all' bike is my old 501!! I think I preferred the 250R over the CRF300L... The crf was definitely easier and smoother to ride but the wr was just fun! I have only ridden a T7 once and loved it on dirt roads but as you said, would be a mission offroad!
I have a klr 650 and had a 08 ktm 300xc. I am rather new to adventure and offroad riding. That ktm was nice, but boy, it was a handful, lol. So I traded that for a 08 wr250r. I absolutely love the bike!!! It's great for single track, and techy stuff. I have absolutely no regrets about getting rid of the ktm. Mine too is set up for ADV
