    I took my Dr650 south to the badlands of Alberta to film this review of the Tenere 700. The scenery is absolutely stunning, the bike is amazing and Riley is an all around awesome human being. Really couldn't ask for a better combo. Let me know what you think of the Tenere in the comments below!
    If you have a Tenere 700, check out Riley's online store: freerideadv.com here you can find most of the upgrades mentioned in the video.

    Got my T7 4 months ago and ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!! Every time I even walk by it I feel like a love sick teenager. He's right, it will do anything you ask it to and it is so freaking fun and comfortable. Bought it out of state, rode 1260 miles in 2 days to get it home, first day in a thunderstorm and the 2nd in crazy wind. Going stir crazy now because there is too much snow on the ground to do anything fun.

      @@carado1984 just kept checking online. I'm in Colorado but there was a guy in Ohio that had buyers remorse and I saw it quick enough to get it, had 1500 mi on it. Couple things that bother me about it - any time it hits the ground or even super bumpy trails it knocks the blinkers out of the bracket, and it is so INSANELY top heavy to pick up.

  • @rallye81

    Great video! And I agree with everything mentioned about the T7. My first adventure bike was a 20 Triumph Tiger 900 RP, on which I added 25,000+ miles in 11 months, which included the TAT, and not riding it for four months during winter. My only complaint with the Tiger was the service intervals (European bikes). I have since transitioned to a 21 Yamaha T7. I love it! Looking forward to riding it to Alaska next year. Commenting from Northern California.

Just ask for subs at the end of the video man, you deserve more recognition these are high quality videos you are putting with a lot of editing and time clearly put in.

    My first bike, got my license 1.5 years ago and this bike is just amazing on road (haven't done any serious offroading yet), the traction in wet conditions even on turns is just amazing. It is a great starter bike if you are crazy like me but make sure you take advanced lessons first before hopping onto one. This will probably be my first and last bike, just amazing and I agree with everything he said on the video, particularly about the lack of electronics, traction and balance. Haha cause of the signals? Apparently it’s a thing with tenere’s. They like to pop out.. we popped back in and stayed for an couple more jumps then popped back out hah. I don’t think they were designed with Rileys riding style in mind.

    • @TheWrigle
      @TheWrigle 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The t7 only really feels top heavy at a stand still. Once moving it just feels crazy nimble. As long as your strong enough to pick the thing up I don't think it's really an issue. I have dropped mine a couple times ( once fully loaded) and have never had an issue getting it back on its feet. I do wish the standover was just a tad bit lower so I could control the weight better at a stand still, but the more I ride, the more confident I feel with the weight.

    Great video. I was lucky enough to get one of the first ones in the states... had a down deposit on it a year before they shipped. Have around 12k miles on it so far... dropped it a million times lol no probs yet. Poor gal is sitting in my garage waiting for the ice to melt. Favorite bike I've ever owned hands down. If you like useless tech it won't be your thing, but if you want a reliable beast that will do a little bit of everything no problem for a decent price it will be. The motor is amazing. So linear and solid. If you put heated grips on it don't use the Yamaha ones. I decided to try the Yamaha grips for the first time on this bike, and the Oxford grips on my WR250R blow the Yamaha grips away.

    I rode one last weekend, it was nice. It’s kind of somewhere in between my KTM690R and my KTM790 Adventure. Not much wind protection or cruise control so I wouldn’t want to do long highway stints on it but it would be a great bike for the short hops and the forest service roads around where I live.

    Interesting - you might have beat me slightly on bike ownership, I also got first bike for my 8th birthday, 1973 Artic Cat Climber (I'm an older 2 smoke rider) growing up in Montana it was the best past time in the world ... I went onto race pro class 125 s for years. My recent regret sell was my heavy modified DR650. I replaced it with a Husky FE501, it's had more issues in 9 months than my DR had in 8 yrs. ..... not good hence looking at this T7 to match my Yami fleet YZ250X and WR450FX great stuff thanks for the great video

    A few opinions here counter to the majority who own the 790/890 but that's the beauty in everyone having their own opinion. Both the T7 and 890 are fantastic bikes but I'll take the 890 over the T7 most days and I did. If I ever come across a good deal on a used T7 I'll likely pick it up for a direct comparison but with the popularity of both of those bikes I doubt that'll happen anytime soon lol.

    • @rangeroadmoto
      @rangeroadmoto  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah definitely everyone will have a different opinion. Personally I would suggest starting with heavier rated springs for your weight and for luggage. I did this on my dr650 and it was a night and day difference over stock and only cost me a few hundred bucks and some time.
      From what I’ve been told most motorcycles are sold for a weighted rider of 160lbs. I’m over 200 and with my luggage and gear I’m way past that (why I blow out for fork seals). So changing the spring weights made sense to me.
      If you still it’s lacking in performance (or you have more budget) you can then reach out to a suspension builder and explain what you are using the bike for and they will set up your valving and everything custom to you.

    Great video thanks. So if you could only have 1 bike, (my case), currently owning a 2022 Tenere 700 Rally edition, would you sell it for a KTM 690 Enduro, or 500EXC-F, considering you're only doing 20% offroad, but you just want to be 110% secure when doing the offroad and also knowing nobody's watching your back, and wanting to have fun on the asphalt at the same time?

    • @rangeroadmoto
      @rangeroadmoto  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For me personally i would probably lean towards the 690 enduro with a fairing or small windshield.
      I’ve ridden the fe501 and the 500exc and they are a blast off road and can definitely cruise at 100k/60mph depending on the gearing but I think for the 80% on road you mentioned I’d probably stick with a bigger bike like the 690(or tenere). The post 2018 690enduro models engines are so smooth and have a wider seat (still feel like a brick though). Plus 10,000km oil change interval instead of 1000(ish)
      Not sure if you have seen RTW Paul’s stuff but he has a fully decked out 500exc made for world travel and it is extensively modified to make it better at that. Seeing his bike definitely makes it look appealing, but for him he tries to cross countries entirely off pavement if he can.
