FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Hybrid and Wobble do not show up or fail during the scan. What do I do?
There are a few reasons this may be happening but it's always easy to resolve. See our troubleshooting guide below for some common scenarios:

- How do I access the Preferences window in MPC Essentials?
You can access the Preferences screen by clicking on the 'EDIT' menu at the top of the MPC Essentials window, and choosing 'PREFERENCES'. For Mac users, click on 'MPC' and choose 'PREFERENCES'
- Where do Hybrid and Wobble install by default? (Windows only)
32-bit: Program Files(x86) / Steinberg / vstplugins
64-bit: Program Files / Steinberg / vstplugins
- Why don't Mac users get to choose a plugin location?
Mac operating systems automatically designate a location for all audio plugins to install by default. This location is: Mac HD / Library / Audio / Plugins / VST
This means that all of your software (like MPC Essentials) will know exactly where to find your plugins without you needing to direct it. When scanning into MPC Essentials, simply check off the box to choose the default location and hit 'Scan'
- Why is the MPK Mini MKII greyed out when I go to activate the MIDI port?
This may be because another software is using the port. Even Google Chrome has been known to do this. Close all of your software and/or restart the computer and try again.

IF ESSENTIALS CRASHES WHEN SCANNING PLUGINS: try to change the display on your computer to 100% (My Computer > Control Panel (or settings depending on what Windows you have) > Display > change to 100%). I saw it on someone else's comment and IT WORKED for me! Hope it works for you too.

Sat down with my son and my Mac to get him set up on this. Great, clear directions. Best advice when doing this is plan for about 30 minutes. Then at each step, pause the video after each direction he gives. Continue until done. It worked great. Thanks!

I had installed the mpc,.. But failed to istall hybrid and wobble,.. I already gave up installing those 2,.. Anyways,.. I found a way to use the keyboard and i found out that you can only record 1 track,.. Pads or keys, cant use both the same time... 😢

I just got one of these for christmas, thanks for the tutorial! I'm not sure why everyone is having such a hard time downloading everything, i had no problems.
I just got it too, but I can't seem to find the essentials or hybrid downloads. It's a used one, but I was still able to register it. After registering there were no download links that showed up like in the video. I've searched through all the tabs on the side including "My account", "My orders", "My downloadable products", and "my registered products" and there are no links.

"Hey Toby, I had both issues listed on their trouble shooting page, and I had to fix both to make it work. First, when you install the Hybrid software, it defaults checking both x32 and x64 bit. This is what got me. To make it simple, I uninstalled hybrid, then reinstalled it checking just x64 bit as that is was I am using. I went back to my VstPlugins folder and deleted the old files (new one is named "Hybrid_x64.dll"). I then ran the MPC essentials software and followed the directions again. Still crashed, but not from a failed scan. I then had to switch my computer display settings to 100% from 250%, reopen MPC essential, then follow the directions and I had success! Kind of silly, but it worked.

MAC Users: when you get to the part where you have to look for Hybrid, there are instructions below this video where it is located on Mac. Here is where it is: /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins. You can click on 'hd', then 'library', then 'audio', then with 'plug-ins' highlighted, click okay and scan. It should show 'hybrid' listed.
Most likely you did what I did, which is delete whatever it was they already had listed, because the video is for Windows, and in Windows you have to search for it. Once you delete whatever it was they had there, you can't get it back. What a pain in the butt this installation is!

I got every single fucking plugin i own on there besides wobble and hybrid, wtf!
It does not matter. When I go to program, I click either plugin 1 or plug in 2. Then, I go to plugin and that is as far as I can go. It will not let me pick any other destination. I am stuck right there. RETURN. Such a waste of freaking time.
If you want this thing, don't do it. Pain in the ass.

SOLUTION FOUND! Change your display setting on your computer to 100% and restart your computer, then try it again! after your plugins finally install, you can change your display setting back to how you had them!

Same issue here I think. MPC essentials is not seeing the Hybrid plugin, which makes me think Hybrid didn't install, but I installed several times, and it's in a folder on my pc.

We did the same thing and nothing. Gonna wrap up for tonight. MPC Essentials needs to take some lessons from Adobe software programs.

My MPK mini has no sound. All plugged in. Set the appropriate audio input and output in the mpc essentials and still no sound. Im new in using this MIDI controller

noterepeat ilok will not open due to hybrid not opening up some other file or at least that's what I am guessing download essential also nothing is working at all.
To anybody having problems with MPC essentials closing when scanning for plugins, right click your desktop > display settings > change the scale and layout to 100% > close and reopen MPC essentials and try again. This worked for me hope this helps!

For my hybrid it install then it says an error half way threw it and then it starts uninstall
If there's a specific error displayed (other than just the word 'error), it may help tell you more about what caused the issue. This is an unusual symptom that others are not reporting. Guessing at a couple of potential causes...
1. The file you downloaded didn't download correctly from the website. Redownload the file and try again.
1. Your hard disk is full. Make sure you have 4-5GB of free space and try again.
2. You have some type of software running that tries to manage or protects your computer that is interfering.
noterepeat I have 1tb pc not even half way full. I don't have any protection software. I also tried to download over and over again and it still doesn't work. This is what shows up ERROR 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoftft.Vc80.ATL,type="win32,version="8.0.50727.6195,public key Token="1f c8b3b9a1e18e3b"process Architecture="x86"".
Here's what Microsoft has on that error: bit.ly/2o47SBv. It says ....
Cause: An unsuccessful install of prior Windows Updates OR Custom MSI packages could have left over faulty registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS
It also has a link under 'Resolution' for a fix you can install.

Ajw312's comment saved me: you need to open your display settings and set "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" to 100% (at least that's what it is on Windows 10). Restart your computer and try the rescanning steps again. After you've scanned, you can reset your display settings. Ha, it seems super unrelated, but this old software must not be able to adjust this menu's size properly and crashes.
Something is wrong with the AKAI website. Under maintenance for quite some time now. Guess IMMA return this. Too annoying man.

it's probably because so many people are trying to get on to the site at the same time
@@ybarrasdesigns4547 Did some digging around from previous forums about this problem and it's happening because the server was overloaded. Around this time every year there are a lot (like 300,000) people trying to download and get things from that site. So it will probably be online later this week or month. I downloaded "LMMS" Which is a Digital Audio Workstation that can be used with my AKAI MPK. I suggest just doing that for now until the site gets backup. Merry Xmas :D

@@ducxphvn6742 Nope., nothing. At least I was able to get it working as a keyboard in Reaper but can't change any of its functions.
@@ducxphvn6742 I don't know much about Fl Studio, but I am sure just like on Reaper you can get it going by selecting the Akai MPK mini as the midi device/input. Make sure you don't select the Hybrid VST for now.
