There's a unique charm to wearing a watch, whether it's a $10 Casio or a $4000 Cartier. I have certain watches that I would never sell because of those memories. And oh my three most worn watches of 2023 were 1) Kuoe Old Smith 2) Baltic Aquascaphe 3) Casio MQ-24
Your comment about wanting the same watch back makes sense to me I’ve had the same issue with with a couple of motorbikes I’ve got two triumphs tiger 800 I killed my first one after 88000 hard miles of on and off road adventure lots of crashes and falls so I got a second one to replace the first one but it’s just not the same and finding it really hard to jell with the new one
Its funny you and your husband share watches. My wife and I do as well! It seems as though she's starting to wear my Black Bays more while i wear the GS Peacock and Cherry Blossom more.
I wore a Hamilton auto Khaki almost every day for over a decade, but for the last 2.5 years my daily driver has been the Hamilton PSR Time Computer reissue. I own a working original from 1972 but only wear it on special occasions as I treasure it.
I totally get what you’re saying about reducing the collection size. I did that last year and purged 10 watches. I have a dozen currently and probably wear 3-4 regularly. ‘22 Black Rolex Sub, Blue dial Seiko 5 and Steinhart Nav B 44 I’ve had for 15 years seem to win out. Maybe I should purge more. Your Daytona is giving me the feels.
Great video! I have the same oyster perpetual but with a date window just because I prefer a smaller watch on my wrist and I absolutely love the wearability of that watch!
your hair looks really great today Britt :) oh, and the watches are also nice ;) I hope, your Cartier survived that washing machine torture and is fully repaired
My three most worn are my Omega Seamaster 300m white dial, Rolex OP34mm silver dial and my 1972 Seiko 5 (birthyear watch). Currently saving for a Black bay 54 and a Cartier Santos Dumont.
spot on about the winter-summer choices. Also agree that once you have a SS bracelet with some kind easy adjustment for that half a centimeter, it is hard to go back. Also hard to even entertain butterfly clasp SS bracelets with zero adjustment. Thats my main beef with Grand seikos actually, not having on the fly micro adjustment. If they added that, they would easily have the best bracelet on the market.
Hi Britt - I go through this as well. More leather straps in the winter and stainless steel in the summer. Some I can change out steel for leather strap. I find when I go to sell one, the watch dealers offer me $1,500 on a $3,000 watch. Most people I know wear "Apple watches" and will not spend big money on a watch. It's not that they do not have money, they will spend it on cars, vacations and so on. My fav watches to wear are.. Breitling TransOcean Day Date 43mm, Hamilton Feild Khaki 42 and Tag Hauer GMT Aquaracer Batman 43mm. My Rolex Sub 39mm too small on my wrist. Omega Seamaster 41 also looks too small on my wrist and my Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II is too big on my wrist.🤔
Seiko king Turtle, I have watches that cost significantly more but this one is my go to. It was my first automatic and I wear it to work, motorcycle riding, mountain biking, hiking and swimming in the ocean. The more wear and tear the more I like it. A bit ironic that my first watch on my collecting journey is still my favourite.
Currently the watch that is getting the most wrist time from me is my new Glashutte Original Panoinverse in stainless steel. I put an ostrich strap on it and all I can say is WOW. Well done GO.
I wore my Pelagos 39 every single day since I got it in 2023 and I love it to the f*cking moon! But I get the point with dress watches for winter, I’m really thinking about a Cartier Tank Louis Cartier for a while! You’re doing great, stay as you are ♥️
I totally get this - I amassed a 40+ collection and grew weary and tired of watches - collection anxiety / fatigue sets in I sold the lot and paired down to 3 watches 1 grail - 1 sentimental - 1 beater Never been more content Less is more
I completely agree! I'm keeping all my watches for these reasons. The memory and attachement + the potential regrets are not worth the money I'd get. I just wait a bit more to buy new ones, and as unuseful as they are, this is not a big deal :)
I recently swapped my stainless steel Omega Seamaster Professional Chrono bracelet for the Omega Seamaster black rubber strap and love the instant transformation. Obviously still have the original bracelet to swap again when needed.
My top three (in no particular order) 1. Omega SMP 2254.50 on a knock off modern Seamaster rubber strap 2. CW Sealander C63 GMT (white dial) 3. Monta Noble (silver dial)
Tudor FXD mn23 bought for me with the Gov State Pension (interest free credit) and Seiko Bullhead Black Horse. Are my most worn watches Rolex Milgauss GV Black 2014 is now a low mileage Volvo XC70. HaPpY New Year 🥳
Britt, that BB 54 is totally the business on your wrist - always keep this one. and I also have too many watches and seasonal is a thing and that is OK! Just yesterday I remembered I have 6 Tissot T-Touches so I hauled out the box they are in and drooled. I'm already on the 3rd one in 2 days. What does this have to do with your video? Nothing, I just felt like mentioning it
Seasonal is how I justify keeping some of the watches that don't get as much wrist time. Though as someone pretty active, I tend towards bracelets and non-leather straps throughout the year. My most worn this past year was my Grand Seiko Mistflake. Sometimes I wore it throughout the week. Others I would swap between it and another watch until the weekend hit. But I don't think it's ever had the power reserve fully run down since getting it back in January. I didn't actually but many watches during the year until the end when there were a few as gifts to myself for Christmas and celebrating finishing some painful work projects so I wore a good chunk of my collection doing this swapping. Besides the Mistflake, I'd say my blue Santos and a white G.O Panomatic Moonphase got the next most use. My blue Ti CW Twelve did give them a run for their money when it arrived in November though. It only left the daily wear pairing when I went on a trip for New Year's and didn't take it with me. We'll see what this year brings. I've had two new watches come in, one waiting to get through customs (though admittedly a weekend watch), hopefully my Bel Canto preorder being fulfilled in the coming months, and am trying to make sure I have some money banked in case anything new revealed at Watches & Wonders catches my interest.
I've been into collecting watches for about the same amount of time, and tend to buy 2-3 watches per year. Now I own too many watches, and am going through literally the same thing. I want to downsize my collection to only the few pieces I wear the most. And it just so happens that I tend to wear watches seasonally too - so this video really resonates with me lol. It's a tough call to make though when you love all your watches. I can't bring myslef to sell any of them just yet 😅
my 3 watch collection, the Galaxy 4 daily driver, Garmin Instinct beater, and black Bulova Lunar Pilot for when I want to go analog. it's heavy and I don't wear it much so I might replace it with an Orient Black Bay Raven, idk yet.
BB1954, Rolex OP, and Cartier are must keeps for you IMO. Seems to fit your style and personality so well. As for my collection, now that I have a Tudor BB54 my Yema Superman is on the chopping block, too similar to BB54 and the Yema has long lugs, which I simply do not like on my watches now. My Tissot Seastar and PRX will find new homes, as will my Seiko King Turtle (w/Japanese day wheel) potentially. I would like to think I will sell these, but will probably gift to friends and family - just more joy in that.
SALTY IN THE HOUSE! 💕🎉 Ahhhh babes! YES! The Tudor BB54, OP and Cartier feel essential to gringa land! OH MAN! It’s always hard when something is on the chopping block! But I can’t argue with it! If the Tudor is scratching the same itch as the Yema, but the Tudor is that wee bit more elevated, it totally makes sense. You need to keep me in the loop with what you end up doing!
@@BrittPearceWatches Agree, the BB 54 is significant step up on the Yema - which is no sloutch. So now in addition to an Omega Acolyte, I have become a Tudor Apostle! Is that heresy?
I wear mostly my speedy which looks very much like yours, bezel and dial wise, although the case is A LOT more beat up on mine. That gives me permission to just wear it whatever i do.
Fell out of love with my BB58 as well and traded it towards my new blue FXD, which I adore (and got at a 10% discount from my AD). For me personally, the FXD is a better watch and I have other dressy sport watches on a bracelet that have better bracelets and that I was wearing much more often than the BB 58. I know they are different colors, but it seems like you don’t need both the BB 54 and the BB 58, especially if you aren’t wearing the latter.
Britt!! Once again nice to peer into your mind....Never know what you are going to find, like selling the BB58! What! But really I get it, I never thought I would sell my BB S&G but it was not getting the wrist time and its loss allowed me to get the FXD-Black. As for my most worn watches in the recent past are a Tudor Cultist dream. The FXD-Black, the BB GMT S&G, and the Tudor Heritage. Especially with the quick NATO strap change on the FXD, I keep the FXD rocking daily. Keep up the great work, and Long Live the Cult(s), and 4:30 date windows.
I totally understand your situation and thinks its a good move tbh. I think having a core 3 watches to enjoy, bond with and make memories with is better than a larger collection. My 3 watches are the Rolex rootbeer, Rolex DJ41 (blue dial) and speedy sapphire sandwich (current gen). I go back and forward on the idea of adding a Reverso tribute. I particularly like the new opaline dial but its a lot of cash to spend on a dress watch that wont get much wrist time. Its a separate topic but in 2024 most people wear apple watches. Are mechanical watches becoming dress watches in general?
Definitely agree with the seasonal aspects of watch selection. I do pretty much the same. I absolutely do have way too many watches. I wear a lot of them, but some more than others. The ones that get the most wrist time are my Hamilton Khaki Field, Tissot Ballade, and my Glycine Combat Sub.
So I've just started "collecting" but I don't feel like a collector lol. I have 3 watches: my gshock casiok black for working out and outdoors activities, the tissot gentleman silver dial is my office everyday wear and my nomos orion 35 is the weekend and dressy option. I think im going to rotate them until i upgrade the tissot gentlman with a rolex oyster perpetual and the nomos with the cartier santos dumont like yours. ❤
I'm not sentimental. I love watches but they're just tools on a wrist. Memories are memories. Recently sold a lot of my collection. It was far too big and I didn't enjoy the OTT lavish nature of such a big collection. Enjoying a smaller collection that I actually connect with far more.
SEASONAL WATCH CHOICES!😃 TO me, like wake up early morning and going college on a COLD and CLOUDY day, makes me FEEL like wearing a blue divers watch (seiko sports srpd) cause it just relates to me😅, on a SUNNY early morning, definitely a poppy bright coloured dial watch like the citizen TSUYOSA (YELLOW) and when its RAINING, GSHOCK is the best I can wear cause I can be more CAREFREE about it! AND rolex OP is not at all a BORING CHOICE😅, ITS JUST SO SIMPLE AND DECENT! WHENEVER I think of a PERFECT WATCH, a rolex op always comes to my MIND! A year ago, I bought a super Mario x gshock watch cause I liked BOTH GSHOCK and SUPER MARIO, WAS REALLY HAPPY WHEN I GOT IT! but now I don't WEAR it that much but still really HAPPY😀 to OWN it! Thanks for the video WATCH GRINGA! that SHOT with the M&M's and those oyster perpetuals was really COOL AND CREATIVE!
My strategy for managing the collection is to not exceed the 6-slots in my fancy Wolf watch box…so 6 is the limit. I have to sell one before I buy a new one. It takes discipline but it works. Last fall I sold two Seiko’s for a Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition and a Longines Spirit 37. Both great additions that are getting most of the wrist time.
Leather is also a more tactical choice in the winter, it keeps your hands warmer in freezing temperatures than steel which will freeze. Rubber will get stiff so canvas and leather make more sense. I chose leather for a roadtrip in Alberta and it was the right choice. Britt, I also am getting very selective on watches. Im thinking about going from a $400 Helm Miyako to getting a Christopher Ward Aquitaine GMT, my grail. But the truth is I don't think I would ever feel comfortable with $2000 on my wrist that could be invested elsewhere for my future. I would rather go for a San Martin Milsub or Proxima original design for $300 and just enjoy that. I wouldnt worry about it getting scratched, thats for sure. What are your thoughts on that?
I completely agree that it is wiser to put £2000 somewhere other than a watch if thats a large amount of your net worth. However I also believe sometimes its better to just save up for the watch you really want rather than burning £300 for a 'its good enough' watch
@rf10is agree! I just think it's not a good idea to waste that money on a watch when it could be used to set up your future. Saving up really isn't an issue for me, it's just a question of opportunity cost
@younusimam-thesalamproject6340 I dont want to tempt you into a poor financial choice lol, but, A beautiful timepiece grail watch is kind of an investment into your future, thats something you fall in love with, and still brings you great joy 6 years later. Having said that its extremely risky to do this if you have only seen the watch online and not actually seen it in person or tried it on
@rf10is idk, the problem is it becomes hard to justify a $2000 watch. But a $300 that gets 96% of it right (like a Proxima) has a much lower financial impact, plus, I know im going to be able to enjoy it without concern. It's literally a drop in the bucket. That's what I'm having to grapple with. Maybe I will save the purchase of that grail for when I've gotten a promotion or financial windfall. Thanks for this though. The Aquitaine GMT really ticks off 99% of my boxes so it's definitely a consideration!
Seiko SUR has the most wear so far. Wore it as much as I could during the Christmas season since it was a gift from my wife. Chopping block? A knock off OLEVS which that is a knock off Rolex.
I've really started to debate whether I should keep watches I rarely, if ever wear. Idk. Unless it has a sentimental value, it seems wrong in a way to let them collect dust in a box. Even if the watch is worth at most a few hundred dollars or pounds, I'm not sure it should be kept.
it sounds like you should never sell the blue black bay haha it has a good reason to be in the collection and maybe you can fall in love with it again in the future

And oh my three most worn watches of 2023 were
1) Kuoe Old Smith
2) Baltic Aquascaphe
3) Casio MQ-24
ND Sub, Air King & my 40mm Explorer are my most worn Rolex watches 🫡
We have similar tastes. The watches I wear most are my Santos large blue dial, 41mm Sub Date and BB58. Something for every occasion there.
I was set on the Santos de Cartier as well until I tried on the Santos Dumont XL. The latter will be added to my collection one day. Beautiful piece.
The three I wear? Starbucks Sub, jubilee Pepsi GMT Master 2, black Seamaster 300m on a B&J NTTD NATO strap.
I totally relate, my go-to's are Seiko and Casio! 😅
your hair looks really great today Britt :) oh, and the watches are also nice ;) I hope, your Cartier survived that washing machine torture and is fully repaired
Another good video…thanks Brit! (And a good hair day as well!)
Same here ! Tying to get collection down to 4 ; even selling the JLC MC 39mm!
Good morning from South Florida 🌴
Seiko king Turtle, I have watches that cost significantly more but this one is my go to. It was my first automatic and I wear it to work, motorcycle riding, mountain biking, hiking and swimming in the ocean. The more wear and tear the more I like it. A bit ironic that my first watch on my collecting journey is still my favourite.
Honestly Britt, your content is Top Notch. I genuinely smile when you're videos pop up. Well done!
What an awesome collection!!
The Santos Dumont is perfection on your wrist. But the reverso would be the best.
The Santos is pure elegance... I could never wear anything like that because I'm like the opposite of elegant but... it suits you so well.
You’re doing great, stay as you are ♥️
I totally get this - I amassed a 40+ collection and grew weary and tired of watches - collection anxiety / fatigue sets in
I sold the lot and paired down to 3 watches
1 grail - 1 sentimental - 1 beater
Never been more content
Less is more
I completely agree!
My top three (in no particular order)
1. Omega SMP 2254.50 on a knock off modern Seamaster rubber strap
2. CW Sealander C63 GMT (white dial)
3. Monta Noble (silver dial)
I started collecting in 2022 and I have 8 Rolex’s and 3 Omega 1 Tudor. I wear them all.
Tudor FXD mn23 bought for me with the Gov State Pension (interest free credit) and Seiko Bullhead Black Horse. Are my most worn watches
Rolex Milgauss GV Black 2014 is now a low mileage Volvo XC70.
HaPpY New Year 🥳
most worn: Seamaster Planet Ocean, CartiernLe Calibre Diver and Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec
My 3 that get 98% of time. PRX 40mm glacier blue dial. Luminox Leatherback sea turtle giant. Rolex Datejust TT 36mm oyster bracelet slate dial.
Good luck! I couldn't have more than 5. Too much responsibility ha ha
my 3 watch collection, the Galaxy 4 daily driver, Garmin Instinct beater, and black Bulova Lunar Pilot for when I want to go analog. it's heavy and I don't wear it much so I might replace it with an Orient Black Bay Raven, idk yet.
Ahhhh babes!
Well at least I hope you didn't buy 17 watches in 11 months like me
Bouncing back and forth between my 1603 Datejust and my 703 Nomos Club in 2024.
I wear mostly my speedy which looks very much like yours, bezel and dial wise, although the case is A LOT more beat up on mine. That gives me permission to just wear it whatever i do.
Love this! I need to be reminded that watches are for wearing and to just wear them, not to sweat every tiny scratch.
Well, well, well... If it isn't MY FAVOURITE NEPHEW! ;)
No Britt youre right! you never get "your" watch back if you change your mind. Once theyre gone theyre gone.
My three most worn: JLC Polaris Chronograph, Holthinrichs Ornament 1, Kudoke 2
Possibly on chopping block: Cartier Santos Dumont (1995 yellow gold), Cartier Basculante, Piaget Altiplano Square
I sold all my watches and kept just the one that I love the most, Santos Dumont.
Rolex GMT Black , VC Overseas 3rd Gen and GS Winter SBGA415. Bluesy in 4th place
Rado captain Cook Green, navitimer, colt, citizen blue angels and mud master are my most worn 1 of them is a beater watch tho.
I’m thinking of picking up the green rado too. Did you get the 37 or 42mm?
That’s a great collection 🙌🏽
@@watchpapi thanks 😊 🙏🏻
1. Tudor Pelagos 42mm (black dial)
2. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 40mm (blue dial)
3. Jack Mason Strat-O-Timer GMT - Watch Crunch limited edition #49/50
Britt let me know when you are ready to sell your Tudor BB58. Maybe when you are visiting Canada I’ll pick it up 😊.
Never sell a Rolex. Easily wearable Daytona on my wrist for two weeks, waiting for a Rootbeer later this year and then Vacheron, Lange or Moser.
I have some others but need only mention one. The Pelagos 39, its perfection for me.
@younusimam-thesalamproject6340 I dont want to tempt you into a poor financial choice lol, but,
A beautiful timepiece grail watch is kind of an investment into your future, thats something you fall in love with, and still brings you great joy 6 years later.
Ooh, I like the trio in the role. The Speedy looks great on the vintage. Mine isn't as dark as yours. Could you say which brand it is? Keep em coming.
No Rolex Explorer in there? I’m wearing my 114270 36m. Next purchase is a Reverso dual time
I get selling certain watches, especially early on. But what’s the point of selling something you’ve enjoyed?
I've really started to debate whether I should keep watches I rarely, if ever wear. Idk. Unless it has a sentimental value, it seems wrong in a way to let them collect dust in a box. Even if the watch is worth at most a few hundred dollars or pounds, I'm not sure it should be kept.
Your hair looks so dang good!
CWC RN quartz diver, Rolex 114300 Rhodium dial, Tudor BB 58 Blue
3:33 you were missing the drunk Irish slur 😉🤣
Nico 🤷🏻♂️
😂😂😂
it sounds like you should never sell the blue black bay haha it has a good reason to be in the collection and maybe you can fall in love with it again in the future
Hi Gringa, you won a free Tim Write membership yesterday.🎉🎉🎉
Nice! I will always prefer the older pepsi's though, pre-ceramic 16710 just ooozes a little more fun and class for me
Metal bracelets are so cold in the winter. Breitling B25 Datora with the incredible moon face for me.
Hi Britt I’m loving the 67 Speedy that’s a birth year watch for me. Most warn watch this year is my Zero West FS-2 or Tudor Pelagos 42m in blue. Great video really enjoyed it. 👍👏👏👏
Still wearing my BB54 a lot, but in the winter I just love the feel of a nice leather band!
1 Rolex Submariner 14060m
2 Seiko Tuna Marine master Ninja Seiko
3 Heuer r 981.006 Monnin case JUMBO with the olive drab pvd coating
Hey there Britt, of course I have too many watches, but... it's an addiction for which no cure exists 😱
And yes, most of them I don't wear anymore but I must say that about a dozen of them do get a fair amount of wrist time. The rest are just there to fill the watch boxes 😁
Cheers Britt, looking forward to another year of lovely videos from my favorite watch geek 🙂
I wear my Tissot Gentlemen, Seiko Prospex 1959 Laurel reinterpretation, and Hamilton Khaki field automatic (silver dial) the most. I am in the process of selling my Laco Aachen 38mm. This is the first watch of mine I am selling. I love the watch but the thing is I just never pick it up to wear. I realized that just because I like a watch doesn’t mean I will like wearing the watch.
