    I worked two years in a Chinese restaurant, dish washer, and anything else Joe Lee or Wing Chin ask me to do, I was Bobby “ you numba one dish washer “ I save enough money working at Hawaiian Gardens ,$1.75 an hour to buy my 160 Honda,1966 ,and with the help of my mom. I was going for my drivers license and Johnny Rivers was playing on the radio “Poor side of town “ good memories, from a 72 year old who grew up in New Hampshire in the 60s

    I'm 70, and I'm sort of familiar with these, as a friend of mine had one back in the day. To a teenage kid, this seemed like kind of a larger motorcycle, never mind it was only 160 cc. And that SOUND! Man, the roar of thos twin carburators opening up is like music. They're just a cool bike all around. Not heavy, so easy to handle, and crazy fun to ride/drive. For a 14-15 year old kid, it had it all and was like a dream come true!

    I used to have one when I was about 13-14 it was a hand me down.Me and that bike literally went everywhere riding with friends. It did have a few problems though. I even rode it on a few trails but not the serious ones. It was black and pretty much complete. Then when I got interested in cars my family gave it away. I would not mind having it back but I would never find the same one.. Thanks for a trip down memory road!

    Can’t wait to see you start on this one. I just pickup a 1977 CB160 all white with 3700 miles. It looks a little rough for the mileage but not bad. I am going to do it next after I get the 1965 S90 I’m working on together.

    I am gonna be watching this one real close. I am hoping to pick up a cl160 scrambler in a month or so!!! Can you try to list where you are getting parts from during the rebuild. Best of luck!

      Might be a bit before I get to it. Probably later this summer. Got quite a few lined up. Looks like a lot of the 305 stuff is relevant.

      @@KeepOnWrenching Cool, thanks! Back in 1971 while in the Navy stationed in Kingsville Texas I purchased one of these bikes from a fellow sailor who was being shipped out. . It was my first motorcycle and I drove it all over South Texas.

    What a cool feeling ..1966 …wow…is it a 160 cc or is that just a model

  • @alwood9148
    @alwood9148 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    well the pistons have broken skirts never noticed till sandblasted !) going to need new and rebore but the camshaft runs in own bearings do they have issues like honda singles using just the head as plain bearing (people put brass bushes in) my cam has wear grooves which might clean up ? what would u do mate?

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ugh. For the s oh em parts I’d probably start searching for replacements. Not an easy task on these 160s. Maybe there are parts popping up eventually. I don’t get much into rebores etc so I’m not that experienced with machining.

    • @KeepOnWrenching
      @KeepOnWrenching  ปีที่แล้ว

      At the end of the day, clean things up as best you can and let it rip.
