You might be able to re-locate the clamps on the saddle bags to raise them by a couple inches. Just unscrew them from the support plate, then reattach them closer to the center. It would be easier, and more reliable than adding a bash plate to the muffler. Raising them would get them away from the heat. A shield would only provide a little protection.
I ride with music.. not all the time but most of the time. It’s nice to boogie to and navigation commands are great to have!. How much time have you spent on the Scram ?
