Great video! I went to Gurnee Mills once in the 2000s. I liked a lot of it. Thought it was unique that it had 2 food courts.
Back when I went I remember McDonald's was in the mall in multiple places. I think it is nice there is a one level Macy's in there now.

I haven’t been to this mall in the late 90’s. It has changed a little bit since the 90’s. The decor was a little bit pastel when it first open. The first time that I was in the mall with my parents, sister, and my grandparents on December 23,1991. It was just before Christmas that year. I have a lot of memories of that mall in my mid 20’s. Only one time that I rode my bicycle there and back home. I remembered seeing a thunderstorm coming towards Gurnee. Once I got home it started to down pour.

I like the interior. Colour scheme looks just right.
Built in 1991? 30 years and she’s looking good and solid.
How’s the economy of the surrounding area? What are the anchors there?
Any potential issues or concerns or problems anyone can see?

Issues I mentioned in the video are the outlets in Aurora and Rosemont that are in direct competition with Gurnee Mills.

@@mallaholicretailadventures To my understanding, malls croak because 1) the local economy goes sour, with the more monied and mobile people leaving, followed (or in some cases, preceded) by 2) management trying to save money by deferring maintenance, 3) anchors leaving or going out of business, 4) other malls syphoning off the customer base. Many of the detrimental changes a mall goes through before taking its final breath are incremental but cumulative.

A few summers ago I bought a blanket here cause I was on a vacation to the beach in zion il and I loved it, it was so soft and warm I only had for a couple of weeks because I took a vacation in California and I left it in the Las Angeles airport when I was leaving

There is also Pleasant prairie premium outlets 13 miles to the north in pleasant prairie Wisconsin. That has also probably cut into gurney mills as business because they have a lot of stores that Gurnee mills does and doesn't have.

after looking at it, whats the point of having pants on. wear shorts. it was hot that day. and people spend big bucks for that.
